Vendors/Venue PSA to brides re The Knot and Zola merger

• Upvotes

PSA to American Brides
Please be aware of Private Equity harming the U.S. wedding industry and its impact on your wedding. Today, wedding giant, The Knot, announced its plans to buy its largest competitor, Zola.
The Knot has been facing allegations of fraudulent and deceptive business practices and a monopolistic position in the US Weddings services industry. It has driven up rates on the wedding industry drastically since 2019 under private equity ownership. If this deal with Zola goes through, the consequences may be further pricing pressures on already struggling small businesses and weddings as a whole.
If you would like to support these amazing mom and pop creatives that care passionately about giving you the wedding of your dreams, would you consider signing the industry petition calling on Congress to hold a hearing into the allegations against these massive private equity firms that own and control these wedding platforms? Link to the petition here and you can find out more about the allegations and the class action lawsuit that vendors have brought against the company claiming they were defrauded. The private equity firms are trying to have the class action tossed out, denying these small businesses their constitutional right to their day in court. You can read reports on our website, The Knot Whistleblowers, about the matter as published in outlets such as The New York Post, The New Yorker, Forbes, Newsweek and others and quotes from the company’s own employees detailing what they are doing to harm these small business owners can be found on our website.

Recap/Budget I recently graduated- Here is my budget breakdown

I JUST got married last Sunday (10/11) and thought I would provide my financial breakdown as someone who married someone who does events so most vendors were friends that gave us discounts. Highly recommend lol. This is for 115 guests. I know it isn’t realistic, but here we are. I put a star on things we got a lower price through connections.

Officiant- FREE because his brother did it.

  • Venue- $8625 Originally $5995 but we added animal encounters- it was a ranch sanctuary, $350 to go past 10pm, and $200 for the campfire because Los Angeles was struggling last weekend.
  • *Bar- $1350 + $100 in tips. Groomsman owns the bar business and just charged us cost for an open bar (beer, wine, 2 signature cocktails).
  • *Food- $3100 + $300 in tips. We did tacos (chicken, carnitas, fish, and potatoes) and lomo saltado. As well as an equites bar, mini empanadas, and caprese skewers for cocktail hour.
  • Dress- $4700 including alterations and veil
  • 2nd Veil- $147 because we lost the first veil ☹️
  • Jewelry- $387 Necklace, earrings, hair pins
  • Shoes- $180 I loved but were sooooooo uncomfortable (customized so I couldn’t return)
  • Shoes- $120 New shoes I loved and were very comfortable
  • Suit- $500
  • Rings- $1000
  • Hair/Makeup- $2030+ 300 in tips. For 8 people plus bride
  • *Photography- $2700 + $200 in tips
  • *Videographer- $500 + $100 in tips
  • *DJ- $1100 + $100 in tips
  • *Photobooth- $350 plus $50 in tips. She also threw in a guest book and printed 2 of each pic so people can put it in the guestbook. I bought scrapbooking supplies for guests to decorate their page. Most people utilized them and now our guestbook is a wedding scrapbook. I love it.
  • Dessert- $1300 for a churro cart instead of cake plus $100 in tips. Bonus: they buy their churros from the same vendor as Disneyland does
  • Invitations- $650 through minted
  • Airbnb- $1700 to have a space to stay night before/night of and get ready day of for Bridal party
  • Plates/Cutlery- $175. I did palm leaf disposable plates and gold plastic cutlery
  • *Tents- $2500 last minute white tents since it forecasted rain (it didn’t start until almost the end thankfully)
  • *Coordinator- $750 plus $200 in tips (this was my one connection as my cousin has her business doing this)
  • Florals- $1300 for Costco flowers
  • Centerpieces- $1598 I did Star Wars Lego centerpieces, but I did have about $400 of them already
  • Favors- $220 I did customized Lego mini figures and ordered bulk ones to customize. It was like $50 more than what I wanted since I had to order a few minifigs from eBay and Mercari for the skin color (if anyone goes this route- just do the traditional yellow ones)Also- guests LOVED these. I am still getting messages or posts about these. Huge hit. Very time consuming.
  • Place cards- $112 to do laser cut wood name plates
  • Candles for Tables- $300 but half of that was bought for the engagement party and I reused them. I did an outdoor Los Angeles wedding, so all candles must be fake
  • Table covers and napkins- $330. $120 for the napkins and $110 for twelve 132" table covers bought on prime day, plus $100 for 4 we had professionally ironed, but I ironed the rest- would not recommend.
  • All the other decor- $1500 including wood risers for centerpieces, signs/banners, welcome table, sweetheart table, seating chart, etc

TOTAL- $40,274

What I took away:

  • Time goes by SO FAST. Ceremony was great, cocktail hour was great, but after that was like on fast forward.
  • Little things that didn’t go to plan didn’t matter.
  • I do not know how people get drunk at their own wedding- I couldn’t even catch a buzz. I’m a lightweight but my adrenaline burned through the alcohol apparently. Thank goodness for edibles.
  • Rain does kill the vibe lol.

Relationships/Family Nobody will throw me a bachelorette, I'm so sad

I just got so down recently because I realised nobody will throw me a bachelorette, nobody will even think of it or ask. I have a MOH, bridesmaid and bridesman but they don't know eachother. My MOH is my cousin and the other two are a couple and my housemates. They are all extremely busy and besides wearing an outfit I buy for them and standing up the front with me I won't be getting them to do anything else.

It's 4 months until my wedding and I overheard my fiancee talking to his best man and his best man is talking about a bachelor party and getting all the guys together and I just felt this gross jealousy. I wish i had friends like that but I don't I barely even managed to put a bridal party together at all. I feel so sad.

This isn't the first thing to go wrong, my immediate family refuse to attend my wedding so my mum, siblings and nana, my dad wants to but can't without ruining his marriage. So I will be walking down the isle alone, and the people I was once closer to than anyone else in the world won't be there with me. I always wanted my brothers in my bridal party but i will never get to have that now.

I know my negativity is rubbing off on my fiance and it's really affecting him and I feel really bad about that but I don't have anyone else to talk to about it and I don't know how to keep all of these feelings to myself. I just feel so sad.

Why can't I have what others do, why does my situation have to feel so bleak

Recap/Budget Graduated bride sharing some thoughts!

Post image
82 Upvotes

Happy to share we officially “graduated” on 10/11/26. It was truly a magical day and I still feel over the moon looking back at it. I feel our connection deepened even more through our wedding and it feels wonderful having an incredible husband and being his wife.

We live in a VHCOL area and had a 134 guests say yes (6 last minute drops, I don’t think any true no shows).

I wanted to share some after the fact thoughts of what we really loved and what we may have done differently in case it helps anyone. These are only my opinions and it’s fine if you feel different. Genuinely - even with the hiccups the day still felt perfect because I was so over the moon marrying my husband. Easier said than done but try to lean on that during the hecticness of wedding planning.

I will say - anyone you can find organically - do! Our florist was someone we stopped by after getting coffee cause the outside of their business looked so so beautiful. Then we found out they’re eco friendly, local sourcing and no foam etc. plus we loved their aesthetic. Our baker was someone we found as a stand before we even got engaged! It made it so much easier to trust them and their vision/inputs as they meld with your ideas. Vibes really matter quite a bit.

I’m going to preface by saying the two high impact factors (besides who you marry obviously!)

1.) I wish we did a Saturday wedding. We planned to - but our venue was booked except for Halloween and we didn’t want a Halloween anniversary. In hindsight we should’ve looked at other venues to get what we wanted. We decided since 10/11 was a “3 day weekend” it would be fine. Our venue also charges Saturday pricing for holiday weekends so we didn’t even save any money. Unfortunately I only realized this past week or two that many people (including now myself at my new job) do not get indigenous peoples day off anymore even though it’s a federal holiday… I was honestly shocked by how early some of our friends left. It was a bummer to have spent so much time and energy planning just to have some people leave right after dinner. Thankfully there were still plenty of people and we had a great time but we did get pulled away for a bit saying bye to some people.

2.) This is said again and again but the DJ is everything. We ended up finding a DJ who opened at a concert and he was so incredible I asked if he’d be willing to do my wedding and so glad he said yes. He is not a wedding DJ. It was a hard decision because he truly blew our budget out of the water and I had to pick up extra shifts but I’m telling you not a moment where I regretted it. He is what made the wedding fun and memorable at the end of the day. The dance floor was packed and we had so much fun. It was money well spent.

General things I’m happy we did:

First Look:
I am so glad we did this. After seeing him my heart immediately felt calm and truly felt like nothing else mattered. I hate rain beyond normal tbh and felt really upset because 10/10 (ie saturday) had perfect weather. I actually complained for months after booking our venue that I wished we stuck to Saturday so it raining essentially our entire wedding Sunday (also hilariously perfect weather Monday too) was not great…we managed our first look outside and then it started pouring until the end of our wedding lol. But at that point I was so over the moon and smitten that I genuinely didn’t care about anything else the rest of the night. The feeling of marrying my person kept me so grounded and present. The only thing that mattered was the warmth…and even though it wasn’t the plan having the ceremony inside made it feel all the more intimate and heart warming rather than a show or performance. I was happy we were able to get our photos done before the ceremony and could spent the rest of the day just present with each other.

Favors: not popular - I know. I think generic favors or nonedible are whatever but if you can do a unique one at a reasonable price it felt worth it. We have two very different cultures and did a small packed dessert from each of our heritages. I was happy to be able to support small business from my community too. Zero left over.

Cocktail hour: we planned to have 10-15 minutes alone and join cocktail hour but we ended up spending the whole time mostly alone with small moments with our wedding party that was very special. Our coordinator brought us lots of apps and drinks so we got to enjoy that in peace.

Coffee cart: We both love coffee / matcha dates and cafes. We had a little last minute wiggle room and added this on. It was a lot of fun, kept people energized and we got to print some of my husbands art work on the lattes (including our dog) which was super cute!

Photobooth:
We did a KRUU photobooth. It was a hit and I think biggest reason was we rented a really cool flower wall with signage that attracted a lot of folk, plus the kids had a blast and we had great photos. I think the backdrop added a lot to its popularity. We were able to find a $300 rental that included set up and pick up. I will likely print out some of these pics to include in thank you cards!

Florist:
I spent months trying to figure out how to DIY flowers and looking to do fake flowers because I knew I couldn’t handle last minute putting flower arrangements together and transport. I kept finding it not only stressful but I find DIY flowers quite disappointing (for bouquets and centerpieces). Even getting the expensive high quality ones wasn’t impressive. I got a ton of florists quotes and many were barely more money than the fake flowers. There was wide variety of pricing. If you’re not going to get real flowers- the only ones I ever found worth it were something borrowed blooms. But I’ll say it again- if you’re having a big wedding the amount you need to rent is similar to some florist pricing. We did use something borrowed blooms for our rehearsal since we only had 7 tables.
I’ll admit I wish we simplified our florals slightly (we added a flower curtain for hanging effect that I don’t think did much) but I definitely am very happy we got the florist. Also having a flower arch made a big difference after we got forced indoors. I can’t imagine having the stress of flower arrangements to worry about on my wedding day. There was already so much to manage!

DIY Temp Tattoo bar:
Seriously a hit. I thought we had too many tattoos and didn’t use up all we had and let me tell you it was an empty bin at the end of the night. My now husband is an artist and made some custom ones, but we didn’t get that many because they were quite expensive. We got some other customized ones from Etsy and a mix of generic ones from Amazon. I was surprised how many ppl liked the dragon ones (I love my dragon themed romantasies). It made for some hilarious pictures.

A minimoon before a larger honeymoon:
I personally wouldn’t have had the bandwidth or energy to plan a large honeymoon immediately after the wedding. We instead went to a cute cabin about 2 hours away and are having a more relaxing chill time. We were both so tired and have enjoyed being able to just relax together!

Kid friendly wedding / leaning towards inclusivity (within reason lol):
It made it possible for guests to be there and we all had a blast together. We contemplated no kids wedding briefly because of costs but I’m glad we didn’t go that direction. We will likely be a childfree couple but regardless, these kiddos are our family and I wanted to include them since we could. The kids had some of the funniest dance moves too 😂

I’m happy we did QR codes for invites and text reminders for RSVP but wish we sent a follow up a few days before deadline of let us know if your plans changed! We had to pay to add someone last minute and then someone dropped the next day but they knew they had to drop the day before. The deadline snuck up on us so I thought it was too last minute to send anything else.

I’m happy we got two photographers who really vibed with us:
We happened to get a photography married couple (so cute)! My friend recommended we have two and I’m glad we listened.
One took photos of my husband and his pals
While the other was with me. It allowed them to help each other so we could get all our
Formal photos done quickly and get more candids. All of my family all day kept saying how great my photographers are because they just meshed with us, made it fun and truly kept the day moving and timely.

I’m happy we were extremely organized:
Every vendor complemented how organized we were. We put a separate bin for every table with everything that table needed on it and the seating layout taped onto the front. We had a master timeline and my coordinator had a separate guide for the “extras” for each part of the days. It made the rapid need to switch indoors more smooth.

I’m happy we got a venue with a good day of coordinator:
The coordinators had a lot of complements on the reviews. I asked if I should get a separate coordinator cause some people kept going “oh, they’re for the venue not for you!”. They told me most people don’t and that I don’t need to so I didn’t. She made sure we had food and that the day went smoothly. An extra coordinator wouldn’t have been worth thousands of dollars.

Happy we skipped:
Live wedding music - maybe because we had a wonderful DJ but this was an added cost that I don’t think adds much (have been to many weddings where they have live music either at ceremony and / or reception). I did want a harp player but we decided against it because our DJ already cooked our budget lol. If I had an unlimited budget it’d be cool but otherwise it’s too one dimensional and costly without major benefit.

Wish we did:

On other coin of the photography, I wish we got a second shooter for video.
This is kind of dual purpose because I am SO glad we got videographer. I understand why some people think it’s a budget cut item, but to me it was nonnegotiable. Yes you look at photos more but videos is where the memories are much more vivid. Even now it’s hard to fully remember speeches and other fun parts of the night. I realized while he was shooting how angles and moments are missed even more with just it all on one person. There’s also a wide range of budgets for video and if you can’t get a videographer get a content creator - just something for video. It’s truly special to look back on and even now I like the videos my friends are posting more than the pics! We didn’t get a content creator but I do really wish we got something extra for video coverage.

A bridal suite:
Do not compromise on this IMO! I said I wouldn’t and alas I did lol. They own a hotel nearby that has a space they use as a bridal suite but it honestly would’ve been better to just already be at the wedding space and also would’ve given us real opportunities for outdoor pics cause we wasted time at the hotel and transporting. I also kept having family staying at the hotel trying to pop in while I was getting ready.

Paid more attention to what’s going on in the area:
It was a more remote-ish location. Not terribly- larger city 30 min away but in the immediate vicinity there were less options for larger gatherings and not as many hotel choices.

Asked venue about the table layout:
They sent us the floor plan layout and it listed how many people can fit at each table. I didn’t realize they had some people sitting at the edges / head of the table because it didn’t show the seat layout.

I wish we picked a roomier venue:
The dance floor was packed and there is something fun in that and also wish we had more dance floor space. Additionally because we had to move the ceremony inside there was less variety in spaces to take photos.

I wish we picked a one story venue:
Again we liked our venue so much we didn’t think about it at the time. It ended up being fine, we had a bar on both floors. We had to pay a little extra to have two bars but it was worth it and I think stopped it from feeling as separate/ encouraged people to use the bar. I think people appreciated having a space that was a little less rowdy to go to. That being said making the seating chart was a nightmare lol.

Overall it was an incredible day even with some things I wish we did a little different. I think you can choose to focus on what went wrong or right and we had an absolute blast. Wish you luck on your wedding planning journey!

Dress/Attire What if my dress doesn't fit the day of?

I'm getting married in about a week. My dress fit well at my last fitting two weeks ago, but it's strapless so its fitted pretty snuggly. I've been having this constant anxiety since then that its not going to fit on my actual wedding day and that it'll be too tight to zip.

Has anyone actually had this happen to them? How'd you fix it?

Tough Times Pregnant on my wedding day

Just found out I’m pregnant and I’ll be 29 weeks pregnant for my wedding.
I have such conflicting feelings because yes, I’m so excited that our family will start sooner, but I’m also a bit sad because of the vision I had for my wedding.
I had expectations of losing weight and looking a certain way for the day, having an extravagant first dance (I’m a former dancer), and just partying and having the energy to celebrate with my family.
Now all that is kinda taken away-I will most likely have a noticeable bump that even my ball gown won’t be able to cover; we may have to replace the lifts in our dance and maybe make the moves simpler bc of how pregnant I’ll be; and I might not even have the energy and kinda worried that I’ll just be miserable the whole day because I would be so tired.
I’m not wishing for things to be any other way because I would absolutely be devastated if anything happened-so for the brides that were pregnant on their day, how did you feel? Am I alone in feeling this way? How did you cope with these conflicting feelings? Did it even make a difference?

Recap/Budget Our last minute intimate ceremony

We got married on 10/10. Some backstory- We’ve been friends for a decade and were never single at the same time until December 2025. Found out I was pregnant the end of February/early March 2026 and through hell and high water I was determined to keep the baby as I have never been pregnant before. Since we were still an early couple, things weren’t perfect but we realized no matter what we would come together to raise our little best friend on the way with all the love we have. At first there was some pressure from family to get married as soon as possible and that gave him cold feet. We spent weeks talking it through and that we could be a couple, and enjoy eachothers’ company and focus on having fun/building a better relationship. We’re both lucky to have family that supports us as people and supportive of the baby, and have committed to helping us with anything.

I found out a month ago my insurance was terminating tomorrow, 10/15, a month before my due date. I made arrangements as best I could to find new doctors and mental health professionals that could accept Medicaid in the chance he still wasn’t ready, I would be covered. After my final therapy session with a therapist I connected with over the last 2 years, I was in tears. I told him honestly, losing my doctors I have a relationship with, some 10+ years with was very hard on me emotionally. He told me he would once again consider marriage so I could be covered. I kept him updated on the health of our baby and myself throughout my whole pregnancy and we both committed early on to being kind and patient with eachother. And one day, it clicked for him, that life would just be harder for everyone involved and he trusted that I love him for who he is and that he loves me for me, not just because of the baby.

We decided 10/2 we would get married. No rings, no reception, no guest list, no DJ, no cake, no bach parties. Immediate family only with my uncle who is a pastor, and like my second father, officiating the wedding. I had just had a big baby shower where zero of my friends attended and it felt good to not stress about who would attend my wedding ceremony.

$28 at the local registrar for the marriage license. Since I’m 8 months pregnant there was no way I was finding a dress I wanted in short notice so my only option was Amazon - $35 on a prime day deal and I was gambling on it fitting since I’m also 4’11” with no alterations.
His suit - $106 at H&M that he bought for a previous wedding of a friends 4 weeks prior.

I’m lucky to have an older sister who treated me the day before to getting my nails done, bought my shoes from a Clark’s outlet for $30, and we made my bouquet at wegmans for $60.

The venue cost us nothing. We got married at Cooper River Park in Cherry Hill, NJ where you don’t need a permit. Our original plan was to get married under a gazebo close to the sculpture park but the day of my uncle texts me that this section of the park is closed to a big event. My dad and I arrived 5 minutes later to see the cops blocking off the road. Looked it up and it was a 5k race for a charity event that would last all day. I quickly scrambled onto Google Maps to see if I could find another gazebo/pavilion that was still in the confines of the town. I knew crossing the bridge meant we would be in Collingswood. Push come to shove- I was ready to get married under a nice tree if it came down to it.

But I was lucky again, and found a pavilion “Subaru Pavilion” only 1000 feet away from the skatepark and still within the town that we put on the marriage license. Since it was 10:30 am, we were lucky there wasn’t many people at the park. I sent the location to the pastor, my sister/mom, him, and his mom. Within 10 minutes we were all gathered and ready to go. I cried pretty much the entire time we said our vows from happiness.

Photographer was my sister using my DSLR camera and her 1 photography class knowledge from high school came in handy.

Once the ceremony was over, we all headed to a local restaurant for brunch. They normally don’t take reservations but worked with us to seat all 17 people and keep our table even though we ran a little late.
Our dads split the $315 brunch bill.

We agreed to write vows for eachother and read them privately and we did that the next day when we were both alone with eachother.

Marriage certificate and extra copies came out to $45 cash.
While there is some things I wish we could’ve done differently (like have a Chinese tea ceremony), I’m still grateful and over the moon happy with how we chose for our very simple, low-budget, intimate wedding so we can give our baby a better life. We agreed maybe someday we will have a bigger reception down the line with my giant family and more of his family to celebrate our marriage but for now, buying a house and raising our son is our top priority.

Relationships/Family Am i wrong for wanting my wedding to be to my fiance and Is liking?

for context, my fiancé and i will be getting married after 3 years of dating and 2 years of living together. As a hispanic woman it’s normally not traditional to live with a man if you’re not married so you can see why my parents were not happy. after constant pressure and long conversations about marriage ny family finally stepped back from trying to pressure us into marriage…now my fiancé and i feel ready to tie the knot but no here’s where the issues start, my fiance and i conversed to christianity after leaving the Catholic Church, my mom was NOT happy about that but that brings one of the wedding issues up, she wants us to have a catholic ceremony, we do not as that is not our faith

she kept saying that my family wouldn’t want to participate if our ceremony is christian, and saying that we probably wouldn’t receive a lot of help financially from any family members since it won’t be a catholic wedding…after a lot of mental manipulation we folded and started looking into the catholic wedding process we began it but now realized this is not want we wanted at all not to mention they literally made you jump thru hoops to have a catholic wedding

another issue is we wanted a smaller wedding 200 guest max, yes i know 200 seems like a lot but for a mexican wedding it’s not much… but my mom decided to take the reigns and start to plan a 400 person wedding at some fancy ranch venue…first of all she’s expecting us to pay for the venue…the venue is close to 10K and that not something we were planning to do let alone spend, like i said small but nice wedding. how do i even begin to tell her she killed all my excitement for this wedding that turned huge. this is not what we wanted at all and now feel obligated to invite everyone to our wedding and spend more then we expected. and these are not the only issues arising :/

sorry if this was all over the place but I just feel since it’s gonna be our wedding we should be the ones being catered to and not us catering to everyone else. does anything by think i’m maybe not being considerate, my family will be helping us pay for the wedding but they are a lot more financially stable then we are and have a bigger budget and we do not hence why we were opting for a smaller wedding. any advice is welcome and appreciated:) and please delete is this is the wrong forum for this story

Everything Else Cocktail hour

Any recommendations on what guests actually ate and didn't eat at your cocktail hour? Wondering whether to keep or skip basic things like the veggie and fruit displays or at least limit the amount so a bunch doesn't go to waste. Thanks!

Everything Else Just got engaged! Wedding planning time.

Just got engaged!

So exciting! Just got engaged in NYC. We’re thinking of doing our wedding out in Montauk. I’m 32M and she’s 31F.

I proposed to her in Central Park after 5 years of dating. We’re both VPs at large tech companies so our schedule is going to be pretty hectic as we try and plan this thing.

I’m doing an engagement party next month at The Plaza which I’m super excited about. It’s going to run us back like $20k cuz of all the guests and it being the Plaza but you only get married once!!!!

Everything Else Sending invitations late

Ok so due to a ton of shit hitting the proverbial fan this year with my wedding (venue cancelled 6 months from my date, new venue hunt to keep vendors who’d been booked, family emergencies, injuries, etc etc etc) I’m super late getting my invites out (getting married on 11/21 😬)

I’ve printed my invites and I am wondering what the fastest way I could get invites into people’s hands is. I’m even considering just cramming the whole suite into a priority mailer at this point to make sure people get them ASAP but wanted to see if anyone here had any ideas before I blow $13 per invitation.

Everything Else A warning to anyone about to send Save the Dates or invites in October… (USA)

All stamp cancellations done by USPS in the month of October have a big “Dog Bite Awareness” logo on them. We have had several people text us after receiving StDs and ask us why we went with the dog bite awareness thing 😂😂 Not a big deal, but if the aesthetic matters to you, either bring them in for hand-cancelation or wait until Nov 1!

Everything Else Help with Vows

Hey, I'm currently working on my vows and just looking for some guidance. I'm a pretty poor writer at least with emotions.

We've decided 2-3 minutes so I'm not close to done yet but I want to get some critics on what I've started with. Thank you for you help.

Today, I stand before you {NAME}, ready to give you my heart and pledge my love to you. From our earliest dates playing putt-putt and endlessly talking in the car to this very moment, our wedding day, I have known that you are the person I want to spend the rest of my life with.

I feel so blessed to have found you, to call you my best friend, my girlfriend, and my fiancée. I hope you know how grateful I am for everything you are and for everything you do. You are the most compassionate person I have ever met, and your loyalty to your friends and family is one of the many reasons I admire you. You aren’t afraid to stand up for what you believe in no matter the push back, and you are so protective of the people you love. Anyone would be lucky to call you a friend, and I feel even luckier that I get to call you my wife.

Over the past six and a half years, you have shown me so much about life. You've shown me that no matter where life takes us, what matters most to me is getting to share it with you. Someone who will continually challenge me to think and to strive to become a better version of myself. Someone who will encourage me to step outside of my comfort zone, even when I really don’t want to. Someone who always finds a way to bring excitement to the mundane, and someone whose sense of adventure drives them to try every new experience life has to offer.

I vow to laugh with you on the good days, to give you a reason to smile on the bad, and to remind you that you never have to face life's difficulties alone. I vow to hold myself accountable for my faults, to learn from my mistakes, and to be worthy of the love you have always shown me. I vow to never stop dating you, to never settle, to take you on adventures from traveling abroad to the local movie theater when a new horror movie comes out.

I plan to add more to the vows section, just haven't got there yet.
The second paragraph I feel is repetitive with the loyal to people then protective. Let me know if you also think that.

Some other lines I'll re-word and add when I find a spot:

As long as you are by my side I know nothing else matters.

I will continue to choose you {NAME}, to love, to adore, and to protect, For and Ever

For and ever is something we say and Nothing else matters is our song for context

Tough Times Negative Nancy MOH

• Upvotes

Hi everyone so I’m getting married March 2027. I had picked my MOH and bridesmaid back in 2025 when I first got engaged. My MOH is my childhood best friend from highschool. The last few months I have been feeling stressed/anxious and having her as MOH. She struggles financially and I made it clear from the start if it was something she couldn’t handle I would completely understand. I’m paying everything for her (as I should) apart from wedding night accommodation. Every conversation we have weather that be about the wedding or just life in general is always negative. Any time I have a problem or vent to her she always turns the conversation around to be about her every single time. I don’t know if she realises she does it or if she’s jealous I’m having a wedding (she’s been engaged for 10 years). She also has a partner coming and made a massive big deal about him not staying the pre wedding night with everyone as she was worried about him being alone for a night.. (he’s not part of the wedding party nor one of the girls so why would I want him to?!) am I wrong for feeling like I just don’t want her to be my MOH anymore? I love her but I just feel like now I won’t be supported properly by her on my big day or she will be too focused on her partner.. (he’s a grown ass man!) I’m so lost as to what I should do and need some advice please.

Vendors/Venue Is this Wedding Planning Service a Scam?

TL;DR: I found what I thought was a perfect wedding planner for a multicultural wedding only to be given the runaround, asked for money, and sent seemingly AI-generated emails. Has anyone used Statuesque Events or Wedded Details before and have proof that they are real? If not, does anyone have other recommendations for multicultural wedding planners who work in the DMV?

I’m at the very beginning of wedding planning and I’m looking for a planner just for 1 day of a traditional Nigerian ceremony as part of a Nigerian-American fusion wedding. I thought I’d found the perfect wedding planner (Statuesque Events/Wedded Details) and was scheduled to have a call with the planning team earlier this week but it was abruptly cancelled 5 minutes before the intro call with a cursory excuse given about an emergency. The cancellation, while annoying and a bit unprofessional, seemed legit.

When they cancelled, I was directed to a look at a subsidiary company of theirs that deals with lower budget (<$50k) weddings, given that I’d mentioned my budget in an intake form. I go to fill out the form for this sister company and within minutes I’m provided with a “proposal” and a contract asking for $1500 in order to move forward. At no point was there an invitation to have a call first — just a generic contract and generic online booklet of their services. I was later able to find a link to book a 15 minute (the other call was going to be an hour) session with the team for later this week.

This afternoon, they sent a pre-meeting email that seems detailed and acknowledged the prior appointment cancellation. On closer inspection, however, it just regurgitates almost word for word information I’ve provided just in a different order, includes overly flowery language, and has a weird on and off again bolding that looks like it was taken directly from ChatGPT. My alarm bells are ringing because of the ask for money (which I did not pay) and a feeling that if they are so lazy that they use ChatGPT to respond to emails, will that reflect in how the wedding is run? But also maybe this is just what large planning firms do and it turns out okay? Idk, not sure what to think. Any advice folks could give would be great!

Relationships/Family Should I bother planning my bachelorette

Its almost a month before my wedding and my MOH never knew what to do about a bachelorette party, and kept asking me if I thought about what I wanted to do. She doesn't have any PTO to take a day off so it would have to be a weekend but the schedule is tight if we were to travel. I just settled and said let's iust do something small here and mentioned what I want to do like a spa day and a movie or something. Im planning the day and where now, and paying for myself. Is this normal? If its not normal should I just go do these things by myself? I mentioned i wanted a surprise but she never knew what to surprise me with

Dress/Attire Another Generation Tux Post

All week I've been calling, and I would choose "Call me back." Wait literally all day, then another day, and still no call back. Then I start the process over. I'm currently just sitting on hold this time (at 25 minutes), but saw someone was on hold for 4.5+ hours. Has anyone actually got a call back recently?

Relationships/Family Torn between practical and dream wedding

My fiancé and I have been engaged for a little over a year and we are just under one year until our wedding! We have a decent amount already planned and booked at this point.

I’ve always dreamed of a “traditional” wedding: ceremony, reception, father daughter dance, first dance, speeches, dancing the night away, etc. My fiancé didn’t really care if we had a “big” wedding, but wanted to do it since it’s something I’ve wanted for a while.

Since we’re having a long engagement, financially we are in a pretty good spot. Saving for the wedding and making payments as we save up. We are getting help from both of our parents also.

With that, my MIL and FIL are covering the venue and the bar tab. They mentioned having an open bar all night, and we pumped the brakes on that. Now, on the year out anniversary, my MIL tried to have a conversation with my fiancé and I about it again. She made some good points and I was considering everything she said but still said I was unsure if this is something I wanted. She kept drilling into me and trying to pressure me to change my mind and give her an answer then. Things got a little out of control and my fiancé stepped in and said something along the lines of it’s our wedding and our choice and we just kind of abruptly ended the conversation.

Fast forward and there was a phone call and it did not make the situation better. She basically said “sorry if I came off that way” and was not taking accountability at all for blowing this out of proportion.

Now my fiancé and I are considering just doing a ceremony at our church with our already selected bridal party, immediate family, and aunts/uncles/cousins. After the ceremony we are playing with the idea of just having cupcakes and basically a social hour and then leaving for a private dinner and then meet up with the bridal party later.

I’m really struggling with coming to terms on not doing the “whole” thing. I know it’s not needed, and the most important part is we’re married in the eyes of God and proclaim our love and vows, but I can’t help but grieve the loss of the “party”.

This whole dynamic is also tricky because the venue is my MIL and FIL’s and we all work in their family business together. The last few days have been extremely awkward and I’m having terrible anxiety everyday. No one is talking about it and my MIL and I have barely talked at all.

Would love any advice and wisdom - just really struggling mentally with everything.

Relationships/Family I feel greatfull

So I have no contact with half my family, the only two I talk to is my sister and brother. My mom was hoping I was never getting married and my father is in prison. Because my siblings had work I don't have them at my wedding today, witch I was fine with they told me in advance they wouldn't make it and I understood completely. Now because I was never aloud to leave much around my mom ( she was stealing my disability money and was afraid if I was gone to long id never come back) so I don't have any friends other then one. I met her because she was dating my mom's friend at the time and she saw through her bs fast. Well I told her I was getting married and since I wasn't expecting anyone to come for my side I told her it wasn't a worry I was just letting her know. She is a struggling single mom, and she scrapped up enough money to drive 12 hours and come to my wedding. I told her she didn't have to and she said " ik but I ain't having u get married without someone there for u".

Wedding/Engagement Photos Engagement Shoot

Post image
6 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I was hoping to get some feedback. Me and my Fiancé just got our sneak peak back from our engagement photographer.

When I sent my inspo I did send photos that were more soft/candid. I am attaching a reference photo of what I got back. I am really disappointed as I feel they are more portrait style/harsh. In this photo the beach/sky almost looks fake.

Am I being picky? I have not messaged them yet about my concerns.

Thank you all!

Hair/Makeup Feeling like I picked the wrong hair style. Help?

So I’m torn on how to wear my hair. Intuitively it seems like a low chignon with a couple pieces in front would be the best looks, but my mom and stylist didn’t love that idea because you won’t see the pretty styling of the bun at all from the front. I do agree that it might be nice to look more feminine with my hair flowing a bit in the front, but I also think it might mess with the look of this dress, covering the high neck detail.

What do you think? We ended up trialing out my hair pinned to the side, and I like it…but I don’t know if I love it
