So my cwp expired 6/7/26 I submitted my renewal 7/27/26. It’s been 78 days, does this seem odd for a renewal wait time? Anytime I call the lady just says, if there’s an issue we will contact you, otherwise it’s on track, please allow the full 90 day period before contacting. Some wait time may surpass 90 days.

been seeing everyone saw off their shotguns in other states regarding the new federal laws. can't get a straight answer on if it's legal in SC or not. anybody know?

I highly recommend this range, they put on some great stages.

Howdy all, I recently moved to South Carolina and live southeast of Columbia. What are some good outdoor ranges for at least 200 yards of rifle shooting? I understand I might need to drive an hour and half if I want something that long range.

Any recommendations for a rifle shooting class, more tactically focused? I've googled Sawmill and hopefully y'all have some anecdotes.

TIA!

Great facility BTW, love this place.

Hi All,

New to town - just moved here from New Jersey a few weeks back. Now that I finally have my SC Drivers license I wanted to make my first transfer, but there's a lot of options that seem to mostly be run out of residential housing and it's difficult to find any information online about good FFL's in the area that have decent pricing.

I want to buy a handgun soon, likely a suppressor in the near future.

I've tried calling a few but haven't recieved a response back... Is there any place in the area someone could recommend?

Edit: Just to be clear, because my OP wasn't. I will be transferring online purchases to an FFL. Handguns / Rifles and someday soon NFA items - so as long as the transfer costs aren't crazy it doesn't have to be a class 3 FFL license holder.

Is there any towns near the ocean that allow me to shoot on my property?

Anyone in here looked into how the new federal NFA injunction affects SBRs in South Carolina?

SC law generally prohibits short-barreled rifles unless the person is “authorized to possess” them by ATF or another federal agency. With the Texas injunction now blocking the Form 1/registration requirements for covered plaintiffs and members, does that satisfy the SC exception, or is the state-law side still unclear?

Hey, any of y'all ever been to Skip-J Range in Anderson?
Any thoughts you want to share about your experience? I'm planning a visit but I'm not finding a lot of info outside of the competitions that they host.

My daddy's old gun. He had it since he was a kid and it was his #1 until he passed. Very sentimental to me. When I shoot or release the slide, it doesn't go back smoothly. I have to push forward first and it used to not do that. Any suggestions on what the issue may be? Or the right man to take it to? I have done some work on old guns such as replacing electors and extractor on old Auto 5s and such. If it's an easy fix I can do it. But I really want to make sure it is right so would appreciate a good gunsmith

I’m 20, looking to buy ak pistols, specifically a Romanian mini Draco, and Zpap92. I’ve had good experience with armlist for basic handguns, but there’s not much options for ar/ak pistols.

Hey all, I am 18 and was gifted a Beretta 80x cheetah for my birthday that I carry when I can and it is legal. I was thinking of purchasing a smaller pocket .38 spl revolver when I want something smaller, and also because I don't own any revolvers.
As always the law is endlessly confusing so I just want to confirm.

The law is that it is 18 to buy long guns and 21 to buy handguns from licensed firearm dealers

and 18 to buy long guns and handguns from private sales?

Thanks

Hey guys I’ve been looking at a new outdoor range ever since champions shut down, rest in peace. And I basically have narrowed it down to the mid Carolina rifle club or Sandhills shooting sports and was wondering if anyone had any experiences good or bad with either. (Specifically curious about Sandhills)

I just moved back to Charleston and am looking for an outdoor range. I know public outdoor ranges are limited here, I looked at Boggy Head and Twin Ponds, I think Boggy Head is more relaxed, my only worry is what is the crowd like. Does it get super crowded and since there is nobody on staff to facilitate an order when it's full how does the flow progress?

Looking for somewhere in the upstate to get a shotgun engraved for a form 1. Is there anyone yall recommend?

Okay ill ask. I live in Sumter and NEED a range to train at. Every good one is a ways away. Who here has land that its okay to shoot on? Will no problem pay you for the time. I shoot about once a month. Or if you know a group that trains let me know. Going to Ohio Range Day and need to hammer out some stuff to prepare.

Just moved to the area(Sumter) and need a range that wont kick me out for firing 2 rounds in a second. I dont mind driving an hour and a half give or take since I get in a long session about 1-2 times a month. Champion Defense closed permanently so i have nothing that allows how I like to train. Moving and shooting, drawing from holster, etc. Came from Tampa, FL where I had access to a range that allowed it all. If yall know anything please let me know!

I live in MA which obviously has terrible gun laws. Would the difference between ma and sc be night and day in terms of noticing a difference in guns legal to own and walking into a store in terms of what’s available in stock on a daily basis? Ik it’s a stupid question cuz I know what the answer is I’m sure but just curious how vast of a difference it is in sc

Hello I am looking for suggestions for a competent gunsmith preferably in the Rock Hill/ Fort Mill area that can thread my savage .22

Incredibly disappointed with the selection at Palmetto State armory in summerville today but want to try some Beretta's and the Canik line to pick a new CCW.

Thoughts or ideas? I'll drive wherever but yeah, only having M&P, no 380's basically, and PSA's only was disappointing as hell.

Specifically looking at SA and/or DA for a concealed carry moving forward as I rebuild my firearms collections

I'm literally looking a CCW, an AR 16" barrel, and a shotgun at the same time to get my collection back up and running. Was going to move out the country so gotta start over

Trying to give yall a heads up a little earlier this time. This is a phenomenal course for those looking to sharpen their skills beyond EDC and the occasional indoor range trip. Competitive IDPA shooters from Novice-SharpShooter and USPSA D-B class - this one’s for you!

Hey all I’m looking for a new range the two I use closed down, I need somewhere where I can move and shoot. I live in the cross area. Any suggestions?

near the indian land/fortmill area looking for a range/place to test frt triggers at that’s not a 2+ hr drive
