I was so excited to get a "real" pocket pistol to seriously carry and this just took it all out of me.
I received my bodyguard carry comp 2.0 last week and immediately cleaned it up and lubed it and spent hours upon hours racking the (incredibly gritty feeling) slide every single day to loosen it up, flicking the safety on and off so many times to "break it in", and i finally took it to the range today, alongside my other cheapo 380 pistols and a bunch of different ammo types since i know 380 pistols are sometimes picky.
Nothing but issues. failure to go into battery, constant failure to eject/stovepipes, frequent light primer strikes no matter the ammo, (Remington round nose UMC (which ALL my other 380 pistols will eat consistently, its my go to for testing out a 380), Winchester white box, federal punch, federal hydro shok, and Hornady critical defense.).
the mags are genuinely impossible to load, and now i know why, because it seems to use the mag as help with the ejector, because if the gun didn't have a mag in it, it would never eject the casing, like not a single time i tested it, it would stovepipe each time, in a super weird angle like it wasn't even pulling it to the side. i put maybe 300 rounds through it and it never once got better.
the slide is insanely painful to rack. i normally run 365 xmacro, glock 19, usp compact, etc. im no pansy with grip strength but the slide is not only insanely difficult to rack, the serrations make it feel like its cutting into you, in a bad way. i don't feed that it provides "grip". i feel that if they weren't there at all or were very much less aggressive, it would be so much easier to rack.
To compare, i have some "garbage" 380 pocket pistols, taurus curve, taurus spectrum, and an old used and beat up Ruger lcp (not max), and to compare them, the slides are all easier to rack, the mags easier to load, and most importantly, (and unbelievably in the case of the curve), work reliably. no issues with light strikes, no issues with ejection with or without the mag, no issues getting into battery etc. and even if they did have a failiure the slides are so much easier to rack that i wouldn't be worried about tap rack banging out the failiure.
all that just to say, i am incredibly disappointed that i could never trust my life to this gun. it is insanely unreliable and i wont be playing roulette on whether ill get a light primer strike and have to wrestle with the incredibly hard slide to clear it, or whether ill get a stovepipe and again have to wrestle with the impossible slide under pressure with possibly sweaty hands.
I dont want to spend an extra like 200$ on more rounds of 380 ammo just for the chance that it'll "wear in" and get more reliable over time. Despite what the general consensus says, i have never had an experience with a modern production big brand gun being unreliable out of the box and magically becoming actually reliable after an undefined number of rounds through it.
I'm not looking forward to sending it in to S&W to service, since my previous experiences with S&W CS has been nothing short of atrocious with return times ranging from 6 to 10 months, (despite them swearing it'll take 4 weeks tops) and they rarely end up fixing whatever issue is causing malfunctions anyways.
i think im done with S&W for good. Ive had issues with their revolvers out of the box (cylinder binding on a brand new TRR8 out of the box), issues with their full size semi auto pistols (issues with ejection mostly) , and now issues with their pocket pistol. I'm done giving them chances because this is just too much. I'm in awe at how a damn taurus of all things is more reliable for me than a big name brand like Smith and Wesson.

Sent 2 boxes down range today to test how they’d shoot. I liked them and I was comfortable with how I handled the recoil. So these 2 boxes will be for carry.

OK so I succumbed to peer pressure and bought my first Osight. Just kidding, I want to check one out and I am presently surprised so far. I will take it to the range this weekend and give it a workout.

This might get asked already but for Glock 43x MOS using 147gr JHP. What would be the best zero distance for red dot?

I see a lot of guntubers bitch about how it’s quiet on certain guns… they act as if they’re really gonna be listening for those clicks in a real life situation 😂 after you let off 1 round you ain’t gonna be able to hear for shit anyways it’s just seems like a moot point to me surely I’m not the only one ?
The best part is that I can ring steel easily at 30y quick fire over and over again when using the extended mag. It also has an Overwatch trigger. And yes, shot over 2k (~100 carry) on it and the with extra power springs, the mags have never had a failure. If I'm not carrying this, I usually have a CC9 + Tenicor which is also fantastic and I'm objectively better with but the G43 is no slouch.
Glock 43 with a cerakote slide and rds cut from Wager. Mag extension is from SI and the holster I is from Bradec.
The HC belt, IMO is worth the money but I also often just wear the Mastermind tactics cheapo belt sometimes.

I carry sig 365, and it's fine. But I have several full size, 1911, PX4 and some stikers, and I just prefer hammer fired. I don't hate strikers, I just prefer hammer.
But its next to impossible to find an affordable hammer fired CCW.
Any recommendations?

Does anyone know of a company making plastic/kydex holsters today like this Null SKR here: https://vintagegunleathertoday.com/products/k-l-null-skr-black-bk-polymer-shoulder-holster-for-s-w-j-frame-revolver-36-60-2
I can’t explain why other than just wanting an interesting/fun J-Frame holster in my collection. I’d buy a vintage one, except I’m left handed and haven’t come across one yet.

My buddy just got the Bodyguard, and we're going out to the desert to shoot it soon so I can decide if I want to get one, but I read a bunch of stuff that it has almost half the stopping power of a 9mm. I'm already a Springfield fan, so I naturally gravitated to reviews on the Hellcat, and I really like what I see. My XD 9mm is just too big for ccw. I recently asked this community about a good IWB holster, but after all my research, I really think its just better to get a different gun for my needs. Any input is greatly appreciated. Also, totally willing to look at other models in the micro class if anyone has suggestions! Thanks!

Hello yall,
I am a big guy. Around 6'5 and 300 lbs. Used to play some football lol but as I am dropping playing weight. I am still chunky guy. Looking for a good holster for G45.6 and TLR-1 HL.

On Amazon it looks like most .380 bore sights either don’t chamber properly or are wildly inaccurate (or both).
I’ve noticed that some dummy rounds just don’t work with the bodyguard.
Maybe we should have a lending library here cause it’s not something I use every day 😆

Hey yall, I’m looking into getting my first CCW/handgun. I live in a pretty shitty town where break-ins and carjackings are pretty common so I’ve been wanting to get something to protect myself. I’ve done a little research over the last few days, and have come across so many different options, and honestly don’t know how to choose between them. I’m looking for something preferably 9mm, pretty compact, and in the ballpark of around $500. Right now, im leaning towards something like the G43X or M&P Shield X, but thought I could ask yall for your opinions and input as well.

Waiting for a pocket holster from Mr Mika but this thing is absolutely amazing for carrying at work.
I have a glock 23 gen 4 that i can somewhat comfortably carry but i have to move around and reach high places which makes concealing more of a chore.
Anyone have recommendations for speed loaders or anything of the sorts?

Anybody experience any problems with the 9.8mm screws that come with the Defender on their G43x/48? I'm experiencing some failure to eject. I want to say it's me, but it happens way too often.

I haven’t shot my 19-5 since i qualified with it about a year ago. This is my jungle gun. Trout fishing on rivers. This gun was a good friend of mine that died. I baby it with .38. This was at 10 yards on double action. Boy that’s a long pull. Still pretty damn accurate. I have the shakes so I am happy with it! I get lazy about shooting all of my guns I have on my ccw permit in fuddafornia

Taking Greyhound for the first time and didn’t know they ban firearms.
I was thinking concealed but saw this video on their Google reviews. Looks like they wand you down in El Paso.
Too late for other means of travel anyone traveling on Greyhound from El Paso to Houston?
Never leaves house naked but I might have to because of this. 4 stops are midnight too and 4am arrives in Houston downtown doesn’t sound good either….
Just want to see if anyone recently traveling conceal from El Paso to Houston. I wonder if pocket knife allow. Man this sucks.
Thank You.

Hey guys. I bought some blazer .38 special to shoot at the range and good thing I only bought 4 boxes. I missed that it is aluminum cased. Any issues shooting this through my smith and Wesson 19-5? It’s my fishing and hiking gun. It’s also on my CCW permit and need to shoot it more.

I currently carry a G43x and was wondering what companies you would recommend for porting, I do like the look of the Glock C cuts but it’s not necessary. I recently had a radian ramjet and loved it, but it made the gun a little less comfortable to carry (I know carrying shouldn’t be comfortable) but there’s no reason it shouldn’t be super uncomfortable, and I would rather carry the gun every day than on occasion, so I’m not using it anymore. I also know that it’s not necessary to have ports or a comp on a G43x, but I want to make it more enjoyable and comfortable to shoot so I train with it more, I’m not worried about all of the low light and close quarters scenarios, because I would rather have a gun that I carry everyday and am more proficient shooting, than not being as proficient because of a possible scenario that might happen. Thank you for your recommendations and time!
So I did some research online and I guess this is kind of a common thing with the LCP Max, but I wanted to see what you guys think.
I just got this LCP Max Magpul edition not even a month ago. Honestly, I love this gun. The way it feels in the hand is just amazing with that extended Magpul magazine. If it wasn't for this extended setup I wouldn't have even bought an LCP Max, because I have big hands and with the regular flush clip it just does not feel right at all. With the extended mag it grips perfectly. That's why it really sucks that this started happening.
I took it to the range twice and put about 100+ rounds through it with zero issues, ran totally smooth. But I noticed this issue at home and I have not fired it ever since this started happening. I am kind of hesitant to even try shooting it right now just in case something goes wrong with it hanging up like this.
Basically when I go to clear the gun for safety, drop the magazine and rack the slide to eject the bullet, this is what happens about 3 out of 5 times. The slide locks all the way back, and the round just stays sitting right in the barrel like you see in the photo. To get it out, I don't even need a rod—I just press down lightly on the bullet with my finger and it drops right through the empty grip hole where the magazine goes.
I called Ruger and they gave me the whole speech about going out to buy three different brands of ammo to test before shipping it back to them. I never had this kind of issue with my other guns like my Sig or my Canik, they clear with no problem at all.
I really hope there's an easy way of fixing this. But honestly, even if I just have to deal with it doing this on manual unloads, it's not a huge deal to drop the bullet out with a finger tap. I just want to be sure that it will still fire 100% at the range with no issues, without harming me or damaging the gun.
Has anyone else dealt with this on their LCP Max? Did you guys feel safe shooting it after seeing this happen, or did you end up sending it straight back to Ruger?
