Rules Update - Sales, Exchanges, and 3D Printing Files

The Reddit User Agreement and Reddit Rules have changed, including details related to Illegal or Prohibited Transactions.

As a result, some of the activities we have previously enjoyed must cease immediately.

From Reddit:

Users are not allowed to buy, sell, gift, or encourage the transaction of the following goods or services with other Redditors, whether implicitly or explicitly:

  • Firearms, ammunition, explosives, firearms parts and enhancements (e.g., bolt, clips, trigger, scope, silencer/suppressor, muffler, bump stock, magazine, Glock switch, conversion kit, etc.), or specific instructions (i.e., 3D printing files) to produce any of the aforementioned.

To simplify this:

  • No sales or exchanges of anything gun-related
  • No sharing or linking of 3D printing files for anything gun-related

All Reddit users have a responsibility to understand and adhere to the rules.  Ignorance of the rules is not a valid defense.

This is a zero-tolerance policy.

10/22 Charger on a Form 1, Franklin Armory binary trigger, post 10/9 homemade suppressor, and the final piece was tracking down a Samson B-TM side folding stock. This build has been years in the making.

New Trigger (it’s awesome) ✅
New bolt release installed ✅
New extended mag release ✅
Picture of finished bolt and trigger housing ✅
Put the hammer block (grey piece) back on the trigger housing just in case it dry fires, very light trigger weight… I could put it all together as is but I’ll just have to take it apart again when the barrel comes

Best loader for the 25 round 10/22 mags?

I'm new to the 10/22 scene and wonder if some of y'all who have been around it more can recommend the best loader for the mags. Even tips on loading them by hand would be cool to hear. I can get by and it's not a HORRIBLE experience, but I'm sure there are a few tips that might make it go a little faster. Thank you in advance for input and advice.

“Brand New” Carbon series refuses to feed anything non jacketed or not in the 10-round mag it came with.

Title says it all, brand new in quotations because i have shot ~300 rounds of mini mag and suppressor max through the original 10 round mag with little to no issue. Any lead tip ammo such as cci standard or federal 325rd box fails to feed and the projectile is ruined. With the bx-25 mags, at least the 3 or 4 I’ve tried, nothing feeds at all and every projectile jacketed or not looks like the barrel took a bite out of it or the whole round will be bent. Any advice on where to start with fixing this would be much appreciated and I can provide pictures as needed.

Magpul hunter build question

Thumbnail

I'm thinking about building a 10/22 SBR in a standard Magpul Hunter X-22 stock. The plan is a 10" threaded barrel with a suppressor.
What I'm picturing: the barrel exits the receiver, the suppressor starts inside the forend, and the can sticks out the front by an inch or two. The barrel-to-can transition would be hidden in the stock.
Magpul lists a 12.5" minimum barrel for the Hunter, so I assume I'd have to modify the stock.
Has anyone actually built this? If so, I'd love to see photos and hear what you cut or changed. I'd rather not chop into a stock until I know it works.
The photos above aren't mine. Credit goes to the original posters, and the usernames are left visible. None of them are the Hunter X-22, but they show the look I'm going for.

Grouping issues at 25 yards

Post image
22 Upvotes

I recently built a 10/22 and am having issues with it holding any type of group at all. I have checked the scope and scope mounts they both appear to be fine. I have also checked the V-block and made sure the barrel is properly attached and has no visible damage to the crown. I have also tried different ammo’s and that doesn’t seem to make a massive difference it makes it slightly tighter but not a lot. I’m kind of lost at where to go from here and am looking for any helpful advice.

The build list is
a factory receiver
a volquartsen trigger spring kit
A Faxon Rimfire 10/22 Straight Fluted Chameleon Pvd Threaded Barrel 22 Lr 16″
A vortex 2-7x scope I can’t remember the exact model right now
A butler creek heavy barrel stock
A Amazon bipod
All this was shot from bench shooting and I had other people shoot it to make sure it wasn’t me and they were getting the same results

I’ve also tried multiple different types of ammo such as federal, Winchester, augila, cci, Norma, and eley and there has been no major difference between them besides cci and eley slightly tightening the group up but not enough to be close to a half decent grouping

Generic MI build #1438

Assembled this a couple weeks ago and with this chassis installed, I will get intermittent failures to feed. I have tried the bx-25 mags, buttlecreek mags, factory 10rd, and a pro mag 10/22 clear mags. The bx causes the most issues (which I had read they aren’t stellar mags) but the others have issues as well. Any suggestions?

My first 10/22 since I was a kid playing around with my dad's old one. Had been eyeing the carbon fiber for awhile. This one sat in my local gun store long enough to go on sale and I started foaming at the mouth. Just threw the $100 vortex on it for now. Plan to supress and bipod. Just have a fun range/camp gun. Rabbits, ground hogs and squirrels beware

Need help picking new scope

I currently am using the scope that came with my model the virdian 3-9x. I have used a pistol dot vortex venom on it before it was cool. But now i want to get tighter groupings and the extra magnification is nice. I currently only have a 25yd range to shoot but am planning to get a member ship at a 200yd range. Not sure what scope to get i read an article by i think MOSTLYRIMFIRE that suggest the vortex diamondback 4-16hd found it for 190 would then need rings, but ive also seen vortex crossfire hd 2-7 with ring for 90 dollars or 4-12hd with for 130 i would like to keep it under 200. Are there any other options i should look at in the 100 to 200 dollar range here my rifle with the different optic i have used on it. At one point i was thinking of using a lvpo weight not an issue. Also i like vortex but willing to try something different

How to barrel mount Romeo5 XDR on stock SS Takedown model?

Hi. I own a stock stainless steel takedown with black polymer furniture and want to mount my Romeo5 XDR to the barrel portion. I have seen some photos here and there. Could someone provide info on mounting hardware for my specific setup ie: stock furniture, and any do's/donts with this setup. Thank you much.

Employing the moniker coined by @Daniel_Day_Hubris

Here is the vintage Eagle Industries cheesegrater handguard on a traditional 10/22 carbine stock with barrel band.

The handguard is aluminum, so going to using aluminum darkener or cerakote to blacken handguard to give it that look. As well as install metal screw posts in the wood stock to facilitate the smalls screws being repeatedly tightened/untightened without causing damage to wood.

The 10/22 is a 2026 model with the improved BX trigger, automatic bolt release, and reciever cleaning port.

It came running flawlessly, but I still chose to upgrade with an improved volquartsen extractor, an extended kidd charging handle and kit (spring/rod), and a kidd poly buffer tube.

Am going to install an improved Kidd Surefire pin and an XS ring sight next. This will help curb any potential misfires and help gain quicker target acquisition.

Might also cut the barrel down to 14" or 12" given the new ruling. Not yet sure on that.
