Please use a 4473, Stop being scared into using the Form 4
I see a lot of people being scared into sticking with doing a form 4 instead of now using a 4473 to transfer suppressors. The more we stick together through the 4473 and suppressors become common use the stronger our case will be moving forward. Don't let the GunTubers looking for clicks and Fudds with Stockholm Syndrome scare you out of it. We have STRENGTH IN NUMBERS!!! 💪🏼🙏🏼
EDIT FROM MY PREVIOUS POST FOR ACCURACY

Legal Question ⚖️ All glory to 4473s but what about P2P sales with already registered items?
(Pic of mini4 I just picked up on a 4473 for attention)
So here’s the situation I have:
Just did a trade with a dude, I gave him a Form 1ed SBR that was a factory pistol. We mulled over the ATF’s FAQ and came to the conclusion that we can do the swap without any paperwork, as per out state law it’s not prohibited at all. BUT, in the event the injunction is dissolved, he is now in possession of an “unregistered SBR” and I’m technically “trafficking contraband”.
2 options are A) let the pony ride and send it no form 4 B) Form 4 it over to him so were protected in the future
C) request removal of the of Form 1 on my end but then it will be a problem if it’s ever dissolved.
So my question is what would yall do? Obviously in a situation where this was already not a Form 1ed item, we would exchange and go about our day. Leaning towards option B to protect ourselves especially since he’s probablt going to give it over to a friend.

Meme However much you hate Fudds I promise its not enough
In Colorado for small game like rabbits and dusky grouse rifles and pistols are fine, but SBRs are not.

🎥 Silencer Video with Sound 🤫 Silent Steel Micro Streamer vs HuxWrx FLOW 762 & AB Little Bird with 5.7x28
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Comparing sound signature between my 3 suppressors with 5.7x28. 3 rounds each, shot into the berm.
First up, AB Little Bird on a psa rock 5.7. This actually sounded the quietest, but it's unusable on the ps90 as it has so much backpressure that it will pop the magazine up after every round.
2nd is a HuxWrx FLOW 762 TI on my XF50/Strike night vision setup. It's a little louder then the Little Bird that was on the pistol. Zero backpressure, glows under nods real fast.
Lastly the Silent Steel Micro Streamer. It ended up being louder than the HuxWrx to the naked ear. With ear pro, it sounds the same. Low backpressure, compact, and worked great with the FRT.
I love my Micro Streamer. Aesthetically, it can't be beat on the p90. Low backpressure, compact, easy to clean, full auto rated. Sound wise, it can be beat lol.

AI 6CM is hawt
Finally got this thing put together. Had been waiting for a Proof 14.5" 6ARC PXT barrel and managed to get it sent off to u/unclemoak for the MRP conversion. Haven't seen anyone post the AI 6CM on a build either.
The reflex works perfectly with the 13.25 LMT MLR upper and 14.5" barrel.

NFA Photo As an Oregonian I may not be as free as some, but happy to have a can either way
Purchased and form four'd 10/9. Mainly went in to ask my FFL if the form 3 changes might make transfer costs cheaper, decided to just pull the trigger on this guy.

Oh no, another polonium 556k post
Posted a week or so ago asking for opinions on what to do about my barrel threads being flush with the handguard. Ended up cutting the handguard by about an inch. Went smooth. Only had OD green rustoleum on hand so I sprayed the exposed metal with that instead of black. Does the job 🤷. Anyways, here’s the setup for how. Budget setup but able to hit steel at 150ish yards pretty easily. About as far as I’d like to take this one out. I’m hoping tomorrow this freedom slinger makes it out to the range and see how it cycles. Anybody have some advice on what buffer / spring combo to run? I don’t have anything special in this one.

Process Question 📝 Delays in forms and background checks
Does the ATF seek answers from other agencies when they do your background? Or is it literally all behind a desk?

✔️ PEW Science Results 🥼 New Sound Signature Review and Tone Study - Otter Creek Labs Infinity 556K on the 14.5 M4
Good morning, folks! Six deliverables for you today. First, conclusion of the large testing and analysis case study on the Otter Creek Labs Infinity 556K with all three of its end caps - this time on the M4, to add to the MK18 evaluation. PEW Science Members, once again, get an in-depth tone analysis case study too. Also, a Hazard Map Brief for spatial looks at blast overpressure hazard reduction for all three end caps. Then, a podcast episode with the LPM Torch 762 MK18 technical deep dive and the Infinity 556K M4 intro.
Lab Data Stuff
Report 6.240 - Today we examine the high fidelity test results for the Otter Creek Labs Infinity 556K silencer with all three end caps in the supersonic ammunition combustion regime with 5.56 NATO M193 fired from the standard untuned 14.5-in barrel mid-length gas M4A1.
Tools to help you in addition to the very large report:
- Silencer Hazard Map Brief 8.1.37
- Updated Rankings (filter by M4; Record Numbers 281, 282, and 283)
- Podcast Episode 326 (intro today and deep dive next episode, as is tradition)
Does "tone" matter? Yes. Always has.
CliffsNotes
You already saw the Infinity 556K with all three end caps on the MK18 in Report 6.233. If you are familiar with that study, today's M4 Report 6.240 will be very familiar.
What's the main difference between Infinity 556K performance on the MK18 and the M4? Lower risk in the forward field (more suppression adjacent to the muzzle) and higher risk in the rear field (the over-gassed M4 lowers operator protection with this silencer, as it does with several others).
What have we learned about OCL Infinity technology in the significant amount of tests published in the research? Today makes 17 Infinity technology tests in the Rankings. We know that Infinity tech scales with barrel length (Suppression Rating increases as barrel length increases), dedicated bore application improves consistency (re: Infinity 7.62 MK18 testing compared with Infinity 556K), back pressure in early time is low enough for a lot of systems, and is adaptable in late time with variable end caps, and finally - FRP control is decent but not groundbreaking. That's the summary of technical performance.
If you aren't familiar with the Infinity 556K at all, here's more info we presented before:
The Infinity 556K is just like the larger .30 caliber Infinity, except it's made out of Haynes 282 instead of Inconel, it's around an inch shorter, it is a .243 caliber silencer, and the blast chamber venting is slightly different. You can check out our .30 caliber Infinity research here. (there's a lot)
The Infinity line continues to push 5.56 NATO suppression from Otter Creek into advancement. The intro section to the report compares all of their other muzzle flush mount AR silencers on the MK18, with the exception of the Universe-36. You can see our Universe-36 report here. The point is that it started with the Polonium, and each successive iteration has changed the performance, learning has occurred, and the Infinity 556K is the most balanced silencer for suppressing 5.56 that Otter Creek has created, so far. It behaves like a Polonium with lower back pressure, basically, without losing performance anywhere, if you want to sum it up in one sentence.
There are three different end caps available. The silencer only includes one end cap - the partially vented variant. As it turns out... on an untuned MK18 and M4, that variant had the highest performance in our overall test program.
"But how could that be? How could the partially vented end cap have a higher muzzle Suppression Rating than the solid end cap if it has higher blast pressure and impulse measurements?" Because the Suppression Rating doesn't just look at peak pressure and impulse. It considers the entire signatures and all the signature components. Keep reading.
There is, again, a tone analysis in the full Member version of the report. Not a PEW Science Member? That's OK. Hope we can earn your support in the future. I'll just give you the bottom line so you feel no pressure to support our lab: the partially vented end cap only vents from the annulus (it doesn't provide additional primary bore venting) and as a result, the higher flow rate drops signature frequency in a certain band and rides the line such that healthy human ears should perceive it as a little more boomy but not as harsh. It's technically safer, by a little bit. Also in the research supplement - if you have your audiograms handy from your ear doctor, and you know if you have hearing damage in certain frequency ranges, you will be able to see which configurations of the silencer will sound different to you and why. This advanced analysis is not new to PEW Science. We have done this for years and all Suppression Rating calculations include tone because it's baked into the math. We couldn't remove tone even if we wanted to. It's not possible to remove tone from the Suppression Rating dynamic analysis calculations. The Suppression Rating simplifies the science by taking what you think is "subjective" regarding tone and objectively quantifying it with math.
You saw previously that the Infinity 556K controls blast propagation better than the .30 caliber Infinity on the MK18 because it's not as over bored for the cartridge. The .30 caliber Infinity has better control on the longer barrel M4 than it does on the shorter barrel MK18. This report is chock full of continued evidence that many times dedicated bore silencers are superior for suppression performance, all other things equal. This is something PEW Science has been telling you for years, publicly documented, starting when the silencer industry told you otherwise. Last week's report on the Torch 762 is one exception, and most certainly not the rule.
As shown in the Hazard Maps, does it really matter to you which end cap you pick, from a blast hazard perspective, with the Infinity 556K? Maybe, maybe not, to you. Depends on your system. Maybe you should pick the version that gives you the least gas blowback in your face based on your particular weapon system. PEW Science doesn't care what you buy and we will never (and have never) recommend a silencer to anyone. So do what is appropriate for you.
Commentary:
You can get the silencer with and without a mount. We tested it with the mount option you can purchase with it - the Rearden Atlas + Single Port Brake (SPB). OCL told us it gave the best performance, so that's what we tested it with because that's what they asked us to do. What happens when you use a direct thread mount? I would guess it slightly drops performance with this particular silencer. Go experiment and tell us. Anyone selling mounts and telling you their mount is optimized for all silencers is most likely not correct.
Big thanks to Otter Creek Labs for continuing to trusting us to perform these 3rd party laboratory performance validations. OCL has come a long way in 5.56 suppression since the Polonium. This concludes the Infinity 556K study.
I hope you folks find the data and analysis useful!

I searched high and low for this footage, couldn’t find it, so I made it. LMT Specwar, CAT WB 718, Wolfpack armory flush plan b hub, recessed night howler short comp, black hills mk262 mod1.
The ai nano and the tsfx does better, but I was trying to shorten the overall package. Overall I’m extremely satisfied with the flash performance. It’s much more visible on the recording than to the naked eye. Multiple people in the room in different positions to confirm.

Stealth Additive Works customer service?
Does anyone have feedback on SAW’s responsiveness/CS? We ordered (and paid for) a Shiv 9 test can from them in July. Their site currently says lead time for these is 1-4 weeks. Haven’t seen the can yet. Have sent three emails to them between August and last week asking for an update, with every person in the initial email chain copied. No response to any of them. Just curious if this is par for them.
