Maryland Monthly Marketplace - Advertise your Maryland services, events, or merchandise here.

Since we have rules against advertising on the main part of the subreddit, we figured it would be nice to create a thread where users can get a little more leeway when it comes to advertising.

Use this thread to advertise any Maryland related services or merchandise to the users of r/Maryland. Got an Etsy store? Drop it below! Your favorite restaurant running a great special? Tell us about it!

Rules for this thread:

  1. All items, events and services must be related to Maryland in some way.
  2. Services and sales cannot be country or worldwide. (Walmart is having a sale! Is not okay. Old Bay is being sold at the Annapolis Walmart for 50¢ is appropriate)
  3. Ads should be posted by regular r/Maryland users, not bots or brand new accounts/accounts which have no connection to Maryland.
  4. We may remove any ad at any time for any reason should we deem it inappropriate.
  5. Any services or products advertised here must be legal in the state of Maryland.

This thread may evolve as time goes on and we see what it's used for.

The mods of r/Maryland do not endorse any products or services on this thread. Use your head, we will not intervene in any transactional disputes between any users.

Hello, I am Katie Thomson, Secretary of the Maryland Department of Transportation. Ask me anything!

Hello Reddit!

I was appointed by Governor Wes Moore last December to serve in this role, but I’ve worked in the transportation field for more than 30 years. Previously I had the honor to serve at the U.S. Department of Transportation and the Federal Aviation Administration.

The Maryland Department of Transportation is responsible for maintaining our state’s transportation system – and it’s more than just roads! Our responsibilities also include the Port of Baltimore, the Francis Scott Key Bridge Rebuild Project, BWI Thurgood Marshall International Airport and our state’s public transit system, including MTA’s service in Baltimore and the upcoming Purple Line. We also oversee the Motor Vehicle Administration, which helps our residents through vehicle registration and driver licensing. We are Serious About Safety for all users of our system, and we want to ensure transportation in Maryland is sustainable into the future.

I am eager answer your questions about transportation (or where my favorite place to run in Maryland is!).

Proof:

I’ll start answering questions at 12 p.m. on Monday, October 5th, and plan to stick around for about one hour.

AMA!

EDIT (12:10 p.m.): Hi, I'm Katie and look forward to answering your questions!

EDIT: (12:37 p.m.) We are answering questions. There was a little glitch but the mods are working on fixing that. Our answers should appear soon.

EDIT: (1:00 p.m.) Thanks everyone!

Along with Virginia and Delaware. This has been posted on other subreddits before but didn’t see it posted here and thought I’d share. We’ve obviously been hit with hurricanes before and tropical storms have made landfall here but no hurricanes.

Things To Do In Maryland October 15 - 18

Things to do in Maryland October 15 - 18 include the Annapolis Sailboat Show. On Saturday, you can eat oysters at the U.S. National Oyster Festival in Leonardtown or at Captain Avery Museum in Shady Side. Oktoberfests take over Berlin, Frederick, and the Maryland Zoo. Festivals run from Oxon Hill to Poolesville, plus SpookyFest and a haunted hike for anyone getting an early start on Halloween. On Sunday, the fun moves to the Maryland Avenue Fall Festival in Annapolis and Carroll Creek in Frederick. Whatever you’re after, here’s what’s happening across the region this weekend. https://chesapeake-inspired.com/events-this-weekend-in-maryland/

MD News BREW: A disgruntled boss filed theft charges against her. When she went to court, ICE arrested her.

Post image
625 Upvotes

On Sept. 29, a 25-year-old woman named Nayeli went to court to address a theft charge. When she got there, four plainclothes ICE officers arrested her before her hearing. The charges weren't filed by the police, but by her disgruntled ex-boss. Maryland allows any member of the public to file criminal charges, a process that has been widely criticized as easy to abuse. The charges were over a $12.08 charge on a company credit card.

Nayeli remains in ICE detention.

Jim Thorpe-like day trip without the crowds?

Thumbnail
1 Upvotes

Looking for somewhere to go on a day trip no more than 2 hrs from Elkton.

Love the Jim Thorpe vibe, want to see the fall colors...meander around (no hiking or biking suggestions please) town....visit antique or thrift stores.....wineries......coffee shops....sceanic train rides....resturants that serve good food (not just fried selections)

We often go to Lancaster and all of Chester and Montgomery County in PA so looking for someone's hidden gem outside of those areas. We dont get to get away often so hoping to plan something great. Thanks!
