Maryland Monthly Marketplace - Advertise your Maryland services, events, or merchandise here.
Since we have rules against advertising on the main part of the subreddit, we figured it would be nice to create a thread where users can get a little more leeway when it comes to advertising.
Use this thread to advertise any Maryland related services or merchandise to the users of r/Maryland. Got an Etsy store? Drop it below! Your favorite restaurant running a great special? Tell us about it!
Rules for this thread:
- All items, events and services must be related to Maryland in some way.
- Services and sales cannot be country or worldwide. (Walmart is having a sale! Is not okay. Old Bay is being sold at the Annapolis Walmart for 50¢ is appropriate)
- Ads should be posted by regular r/Maryland users, not bots or brand new accounts/accounts which have no connection to Maryland.
- We may remove any ad at any time for any reason should we deem it inappropriate.
- Any services or products advertised here must be legal in the state of Maryland.
This thread may evolve as time goes on and we see what it's used for.
The mods of r/Maryland do not endorse any products or services on this thread. Use your head, we will not intervene in any transactional disputes between any users.

Hello, I am Katie Thomson, Secretary of the Maryland Department of Transportation. Ask me anything!
Hello Reddit!
I was appointed by Governor Wes Moore last December to serve in this role, but I’ve worked in the transportation field for more than 30 years. Previously I had the honor to serve at the U.S. Department of Transportation and the Federal Aviation Administration.
The Maryland Department of Transportation is responsible for maintaining our state’s transportation system – and it’s more than just roads! Our responsibilities also include the Port of Baltimore, the Francis Scott Key Bridge Rebuild Project, BWI Thurgood Marshall International Airport and our state’s public transit system, including MTA’s service in Baltimore and the upcoming Purple Line. We also oversee the Motor Vehicle Administration, which helps our residents through vehicle registration and driver licensing. We are Serious About Safety for all users of our system, and we want to ensure transportation in Maryland is sustainable into the future.
I am eager answer your questions about transportation (or where my favorite place to run in Maryland is!).
Proof:

I’ll start answering questions at 12 p.m. on Monday, October 5th, and plan to stick around for about one hour.
AMA!
EDIT (12:10 p.m.): Hi, I'm Katie and look forward to answering your questions!
EDIT: (12:37 p.m.) We are answering questions. There was a little glitch but the mods are working on fixing that. Our answers should appear soon.
EDIT: (1:00 p.m.) Thanks everyone!

MD Politics Moved to MD from MN 8/2025. After Renee Goode was killed by ICE in MN, I pleaded to Andy Harris to stand up for Constitutional Rights violations and murders by ICE.
I’d like everyone to know who they’re voting for and against.
Here’s Andy Harris’s official reply letter to me after ICE shot and killed Renee Goode in Minneapolis and refused to let the State of Minnesota and Minneapolis PD investigate the murder by a Federal Agent, of a U.S. Citizen exercising her Constitutional Rights.
Andy Harris stands on the side of Authoritarianism and is not a representative of We The People.

MD Politics Marylanders back Moore by wide margin, but not redistricting push or data centers
Democratic Gov. Wes Moore leads Republican former state Del. Dan Cox by 27 points, according to a recent poll by the University of Maryland, Baltimore County Institute of Politics.
The 2026 Maryland gubernatorial race is a rematch between Moore and Cox. Moore defeated Cox by more than 30 percentage points during the 2022 gubernatorial election.

Question 3, supported by Moore and other state Democrats, asks whether the state will be allowed to rewrite redistricting laws via a constitutional amendment, allowing for boundaries to be redrawn that ignore geographic barriers.
In the poll, 25% of the voters polled said they would vote for Question 3, while 53% said they were against the measure. Opposition crossed party lines.

Respondents largely viewed data centers negatively. Among respondents, 80% answered that data centers would have a mostly negative impact on the cost of electricity and 75% said they would have a mostly negative impact on quality of life for residents living near data centers. Respondents overwhelmingly said they saw data centers as hurting both air quality (60%) and water quality (68%).

Just an interesting fact I discovered. No hurricane has ever made landfall in Maryland
Along with Virginia and Delaware. This has been posted on other subreddits before but didn’t see it posted here and thought I’d share. We’ve obviously been hit with hurricanes before and tropical storms have made landfall here but no hurricanes.
