Looking for a good primary care physician in or around Columbia
I am looking for a practice where I can see my real doctor more often than the nurse practitioner. I find it ridiculous that these days the doctors are not available and I can only see the nurse practitioner. Appointment times, even for something serious is long, doctors have no interests etc. Does anyone have better experience in the area with other doctors? Please share.

Independent, In-House Optical Lab with Eye Doctor
I am looking for a new optometrist in AACo/Hoco. The office MUST HAVE an in-house optical lab that cuts their own lenses - no lens work off site/lens orders sent off to another lab to fulfill. Gimme the good stuff, Reddit!!

Nanny for (almost) 2 year old
Hey everyone , we are looking for a nanny for our 2 year old son. My wife works from home but is very busy and im out of the house usually until 445. We are looking for someone passionate about children and that likes to play games or read to them. Ideally long term job but just looking for the right fit! No housework outside of what’s related to toddler (light laundry, keeping areas clean, washing his dishes after breakfast/lunch). Plus he naps from 130-430 most days anyway so there would be some downtime from kid activities! DM me if interested or if you know someone interested!

Need recommendations for small construction/ repair job.
The post holding up my porch roof has started rotting out at the bottom. Would be grateful for recommendations of construction companies that you've had good experience with that would do this kind of job. Thanks!

Need Primary Care
I am looking for a primary care office near Dorsey Search/Columbia. My current primary is great but its worthless because there is so little access. All sick appointments must go to urgent care, and when they want you to have a follow up appt in 6 months, they can’t get you in for 9, and it takes 9 months to get an annual on the books. Is there a practice that has great docs and accessibility in the area? Thanks!

A long-running Howard County milk plant is liquidating. Its 101 acres could soon turn into housing
If anyone happens to need a 60,000-gallon stainless steel milk silo or a butter-packaging robot, they’re auctioning off all the plant equipment starting Sept. 28.
But seriously, whoever buys this property could end up asking the Zoning Board to put apartments or other housing on the main property, which is right now zoned for industrial or business uses.
What do you want to see there?

Highland - Ethanol Free Fuel?
Need some ethanol free fuel for my 2 stroke leaf blower. Any leads in Highland, Clarksville, Olney?
Edit: looking for a gas station with E0 pump fuel so I can mix my own. Pre-mix sold at stores is very expensive.

Haunted motel off route 40? Back in the early 2000s
hi does anyone know the lore about the sketchy motel off route 40 by Ellicott city. I recently drove by I can’t recall exactly where but there’s one spot that’s now a 55+community apt complex and down the road is a fairly new gas station. I’m not stopping at either place it’s one of those spots that owner as the former motel. my cousin back when we were in college (early 2000s) said her friends wanted to rent a room to see if they could see paranormal activity. did anyone ever give it a try? would love to hear about it. it creeps me out but yet here I am ha ha

Restaurants worth trying before summer's over + housing price cuts in Hoco
Quick roundup of what's happening around Hoco this week 👀
🐶 Events: Paint with Puppies, the 50 Years of Ellicott City Station Museum celebration, and a bourbon & cigar night — all happening before Labor Day.
🏡 Housing: Noticing a real shift in the market — every listing I've been tracking locally got a price cut this week. Rates are still around 6.7%, so if you're house hunting right now, there's probably more room to negotiate than you'd think.
🍽️ Food: If you haven't tried Grille 620 or The Turn House yet, get there before patio season wraps up. Both are solid.
I cover Hoco news, crime, real estate, and local tips weekly every Sunday — free, full issue linked below.

Wed Aug 12 -- Sun Party at Alpha Ridge
First and foremost -- NEVER look at the sun, especially with binoculars or a telescope, without proper eye protection. Regular store-bought sunglasses are NOT sufficient protection to look at the Sun.
The Howard Astronomical League will hold a Public Sun Party on Wednesday August 12 from noon-ish until 4pm-ish. Our Observatory will be open, and HAL members will be out with our telescopes safely sharing views of the Sun.
There will be a partial Solar Eclipse from about 1:30pm until 2:30pm. Let me be clear, this is not a particularly exciting eclipse. If you still have your Solar Glasses from the last one, you almost certainly won't notice it. The solar disk coverage will be less than 4%

But we invite you to join us with our safe telescopes enjoying views of the Sun.
This event is held rain or shine (except for severe summer thunderstorms) at Alpha Ridge Park in Marriottsville, just minutes from I-70. This event is free and open to the public.

Looking for Black Male PCPs in Howard County
I am looking to switch PCPs. I am struggling to find providers that would be the best fit for me. Any recommendations would be great!! I want to avoid doctors that are almost to retirement.
