I still remember when I was a child, people from Mumbai used to come to Pune during summer vacations because Pune's climate used to be pleasant as compared to Mumbai. But when I see it today, the condition of Pune has by far the worst in the country. Unplanned urbanization, huge building constructions, enormous tree cutting this all is making the city the worst to stay.

I really miss my old city. If we keep going like this I'm afraid the city infrastructure will totally collapse in the next 5 yrs..

I came to Pune from Bangalore for a trip, and I was surprised to see so many people riding bikes without helmets, even in the heart of the city. Is helmet enforcement not strict in Pune, or do the police take action against these violations? Just curious to know what locals think about this.

Someone went to YCM Hospital (PCMC) in the middle of the night for a death certificate, got made to wait for hours, and walked in on staff allegedly throwing a full on liquor party with snacks inside the actual postmortem room. On top of that, they claimed they were asked for ₹9,000 just to release the body.

Went to Pune Airport to pick someone up and got charged ₹300 via FASTag on private vehicle.

Checked the parking rates later and ₹300 seems to be for commercial vehicles, not private cars.

Anyone else been charged ₹300 recently? Is this normal or am I missing something?

It will be 100% Free Open Source website/webapp that will connect drivers to passengers and the payment will be made offline via UPI/Cash or online via UPI with 0% platform charges. Anyone can become a driver and set their own charges such as 10₹/km and it will show on the website, similarly passengers can choose between different riders and they will see the prices they have set.

Also it will be an website so that it is easily compatible across all platforms, will be easy to maintain and will not incur any charges to me as well. Also it will be open source so if the website gets taken down it can be rehosted by someone else. You wouldn’t need to enter too much personal information except maybe google login one time to verify it is a genuine account and maybe phone number. Also I will not reveal my identity to avoid any confrontation between government or anyone else.

This model will make sure riders earn maximum money as there are no platform charges as well as passengers can get the best deal. Also there will be server upkeep and domain and other fees that I will pay initially but there will be no charges to anyone although anyone can donate after using the website if they wish but it is completely optional.

Pune District Collector and RTA Chairman Jitendra Dudi has reportedly ordered R@pido to immediately halt its unlicensed bike-taxi services in Pune.

I want to know what ordinary Pune residents think about this decision.

Bike taxis can be an affordable and convenient option, especially for short distances, avoiding traffic, and reaching places where public transport isn't easily accessible. At the same time, there are questions about licensing, passenger safety, and fair competition with other transport services.

After eating a Misal pav full of Oil and Red chilly powder (shared as well), today I was lucky to have one of the best Dal Khichdi's I have ever had in my life. The tadka on the khichdi looked and tasted so yummy (could not be captured in this picture)

Its cost is 169 which is really a good cost for a khichdi like it. It's been a few hours since I had it and I did not get any pain in my stomach or food poisoning symptoms. I am glad there is still some clean and tasty food left out there in restaurants

I am looking at various option such as Bluedart and Dehlivery.

Can you all suggest which would be great option and secure ?

Taking tomorrow (Friday) off and heading out for a 3-day ride from Pune from Oct 16 (Friday morning) to Oct 18 (Sunday).

The main spark for the trip is visiting Pratapgad for the Mashal Mahotsav / Navratri festivities at the fort. From there, the plan is wide open—I'm keen to explore Mahabaleshwar and then descend down the ghats to hit the Konkan beaches (Harihareshwar / Shrivardhan / Diveagar side) for Saturday and Sunday before heading back to Pune.

Tentative Route & Flow:

Day 1 (Friday): Pune -> Shirwal -> Wai -> Pasarni Ghat -> Pratapgad Fort (Mashal Mahotsav vibe & fort exploration) -> Night stay around Mahabaleshwar / Poladpur.

Day 2 (Saturday): Early morning viewpoints around Mahabaleshwar -> Descend the ghats toward the Konkan coast -> Coastal roads, beach sunset, and overnight stay near the beach (Harihareshwar/Diveagar belt).

Day 3 (Sunday): Morning by the sea -> Scenic climb back up through Mangaon / Tamhini Ghat (or Varandha/Bhor) -> Return to Pune by Sunday evening.
