Relationships I am done with this hypergamy.

Post image
276 Upvotes

I am done with this hypergamy shit. I don't deserve love it seems just because I live in a particular place.

I am 27 and my age it's date to marry and settle down.

So if I do meet someone from Vasai the conversation goes nowhere as they are looking for someone from Mumbai to marry and settle down.

If I meet someone from Mumbai they initially like the vibe and conversation but as soon as they get to know I am from Vasai Virar they leave, unmatch, ignore.

This is the 5th time it's happening.

I give up on finding anything.

Now my goal is to grind, lock in and hustle to earn more so I can move out of this shitty place to Mumbai and find love.

Or maybe I should just give up and force myself to stay single forever.

Thanks for listening to my rant.

Discussion Nalasopara Imperial Heights Fire: Questions for VVMC on High-Rise Fire Safety

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I want to discuss the recent fire at Imperial Heritage (Imperial Heights), Nalasopara East, where two women tragically lost their lives.

Residents have reportedly alleged that the building’s fire safety system was not operational. The exact cause and any negligence still need to be established through an investigation.

But this incident raises serious questions for the Vasai-Virar Municipal Corporation (VVMC):

- If high-rise buildings are being approved, are their fire safety systems actually inspected and kept operational?

- Do our fire brigade teams have adequate equipment to rescue people from the upper floors?

- Why aren’t modern rescue systems, including suitable hydraulic platforms and drone-assisted operations, being strengthened?

- Who is accountable for checking fire safety before residents are allowed to live in these buildings?

The fire brigade station is reportedly just about a minute’s drive away on the same road. That makes it even more important to understand what difficulties occurred during the rescue—not to blame anyone without evidence, but to demand answers.

A city cannot keep building higher without making its emergency response stronger.

What should VVMC prioritise to prevent such tragedies in Vasai-Virar? And how can residents demand transparent fire-safety inspections?

Discussion Does anyone else feel depressed coming back to Mumbai after a vacation?🫩

Every time I travel somewhere outside Mumbai, whether it’s another state in India or another country, I come back feeling this strange sadness.

Being away reminds me of how beautiful life can feel when you’re surrounded by nature, greenery, open skies, clean air and places that actually have a sense of aesthetic to them.

And then I come back to Mumbai and the reality hits. Back to the daily commute, the same concrete buildings everywhere, the pollution, the constant rush, and the feeling that life is just going to be an endless cycle of waking up, going to work, coming home, sleeping and repeating it all over again.

The sky is one thing I notice the most. I’ve travelled to most states in India and I’ve always noticed how different the sky looks outside Mumbai. You can actually see the blue. The air feels lighter, the surroundings feel more open and somehow even doing absolutely nothing feels good… The moment I enter Mumbai, it’s like this huge grey blanket covers everything. Sometimes you can barely see the sky properly and in certain areas, you literally have to cover your mouth because of the pollution!! 😷

When did human life become sooo disconnected from nature? When did living become just about earning money, paying bills, commuting for hours and waiting for the next vacation to feel alive again?

I’ve reached a point where I genuinely want to earn enough money to be able to travel every two months without having to overthink the financial implications. To be able to leave whenever I feel like I need a break, experience different places, and not feel guilty about spending money on something that makes me feel alive. But then I realise how difficult that is and how this is probably what so many of us are chasing anyway!

I know Mumbai has its own charm. The people, the food, the opportunities, the energy. And I understand why people love this city. But sometimes I feel like we’ve normalised living in an environment that is genuinely exhausting, both physically and mentally

Does anyone else feel this way, or am I just going through post-vacation blues? How do you cope with this??

Sometimes I genuinely wonder if this is the life we’re all supposed to be working so hard for…

Discussion Does anyone feel burdened by high home loan EMIs in Mumbai

We all have a dream to buy our own house one day. However, the prices of real estate in Mumbai are almost 2x-3x of what they should be. Most of us get discouraged and give up on this dream. But there are some who won't. They are ready to pay more than 50% of their salaries in EMI. I wonder what happens in such cases when high EMIs vis-a-vis salary makes you sacrifice small luxuries and pleasures in life. For example, going by bus in this heat and humidity instead of Uber. Not going out on weekends. Postponing vacations indefinitely.

Relationships Need genuine advice about a gym situation that’s getting out of hand

A month ago, I had a confrontation with a woman at my gym. There was an issue involving her boyfriend, and she tried to put allegations on me that I had come close to him. I swear I never had that intention.

Things got ugly, and since then, I’ve been trying to avoid unnecessary drama. I’ve changed my gym timings, but somehow our timings still clash, even if it’s just for 10 minutes in the changing room.

She continues to pass comments loudly. Recently, she openly commented, ā€œHijde ki shakal ki.ā€ Other people have also come to me and told me that she’s been talking about me.

Her boyfriend sometimes stares at me, which makes me anxious because of the previous allegations. There was even a time when he tried to stop her from making comments.

After our confrontation, she repeatedly said she didn’t want to talk to me, yet she continues making comments. I tried to remain unbothered because I genuinely don’t want drama, but I’m human too. It hurts when someone keeps targeting you, especially when you’ve already changed your routine to avoid them.

The gym isn’t refunding my membership either. They have only asked me to change my timings.

Honestly, I’m exhausted. I’ve reached a point where I’m getting so angry that I understand how prolonged humiliation can push someone towards doing something they might regret. I don’t want to become that person, and I don’t want to ruin my own life over someone else’s behaviour.

But I’m also tired of constantly being the one who has to adjust.

So I want to ask people here
What would you do in my position? Would you confront her one last time, report everything to police, or simply leave the gym even if that means losing money?

I want to stand up for myself without making the situation worse. I’m genuinely looking for honest advice, not just people telling me to ignore her.

How do you deal with someone who keeps provoking you even after you’ve made it clear you want nothing to do with them?

Discussion Why are trek leaders and agencies so scared of bad reviews that they allow such shameless act.

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

So I went on AMK trek last weekend and there was a 3-4 trekking agencies groups so around 40-60 people.

But chunk of people of one particular group were bathing on the edge of the water tanks.

If anyone has been on madan gad they know that there are only 2 water tanks on this forts and no other sources of water and night stay is also done at this fort.

I was sitting at top of the fort watching sunset peacefully, but later on when saw the other side I saw these visuals my blood boiled (ą¤…ą¤¶ą„€ ą¤¤ą„€ą¤µą„ą¤° सणक ą¤—ą„‡ą¤²ą„€ ą¤”ą„‹ą¤•ą„ą¤Æą¤¾ą¤¤) but as I was solo on this trek and also an introvert I could not gather courage to speak up but I saw some people talking to them maybe it was their trek leader and local people. So I thought maybe they will stop and no one will now do that there.

But to my suprise another group of people went there and started bathing and this time no one went there to stop them.

I thought that's enough if no one speaks up now all the people will go to take a bath there. So I dithched the sunset and went down to stop this. I raised my voice and told them that these is only source of water on the fort and one side is used for drinking think of the trekkers coming here in winters and summers who crave even a drop of water. Their argument was that they saw there was kachra in it we asked other people and gave some bullshit reasons.

The trek leader came to me and I asked him who is responsible for this why aren't you telling your people to follow some etiquettes of the place. To my suprise he said they are taking water from tanks and showering further. I showed him this video and he just looked at me and kept smiling like a fool saying that what can we do we told them they don't listen.

I mean they listened when I told them these leaders don't care about the environment in the first place I swear I felt like slapping him hard for taking the people's side and staring at me like an idiot.

To all the people gping on such monsoon treks - kindly maintain the water on the water tanks this is not a picnic spot for you to enjoy and not all people depend on water bottle sellers because they don't sell anything in off season when other trekkers go.

Don't put your feet inside the water and think like it is a pedicure session. Hands is fine is you want to freshen up take water in bottle and do it far from the tank such that water will not seep into the tanks.

Please if you can't even think for others don't do such treks.

I think there should be a hard fine or something taken by these agencies for destroying the nature on treks because no one goes to clean it there and the people who think it as a picnic hardly care about the environment. They think that they have given guidelines for ciggerate and drinks their work is done but there is more to it not only this.

Let me know if I should name and shame the trek agency in comments.

General Passport Seva Kendra (PSK/Malad)

I had an appointment for Passport renewal and had an great experience. Seems like the process has been handed over to TCS and they are doing a great job.

Note the below pointers which might help for new appliers as well renewal, normal issue not TATKAL

My passport expired and I had an address change plus my middle name was missing in the old passport so I wanted to add that also.

  1. You will get a message on your phone number, you can reach 15mins before that time and they will allow you, long are the days gone when you had to wait for a long queue and worry your number shouldn’t be missed. (Specifically talking about MALAD PSK) \*\* very important thing is to have an account in DIGI LOCKER and your latest updated Aadhar card issued in that.\*\*

Make sure you reach 15mins before

Download the application form (ARN), I know the notice says that you can show the message received in your phone. I did the same they allow you the entry based on your phone message but read ahead and you will know why a printout will help. Also there is one printout on the website which specifies what documents you need based on what is the purpose of your passport application. Make sure you read that and keep documents ready.

  1. Keep one set of Original documents handy, I kept it in a very accessible plastic folder which I could remove and keep it in bag easily

Take 2 xerox copies of all the original documents and keep them in different folders too. Make sure they are signed which accounts for self attested.

  1. After security guard lets you in, there will one more security check who would check your bag and the application again.

  2. He then will tell you to enter inside and turn right.

  3. You will see 6 counters, 3 for Normal and 3 for Tatkal.

You can stand in the line whichever you have chosen

I had booked Normal, so I stood in the line of Normal.

  1. They will check you Application form and documents and will ask for original documents also so keep them handy.

  2. The same guy will tell you to scan the application form which has a barcode and get it back. This is the reason I am asking you to carry the printout of application form, this eases the process for you.

  3. Once scanned go to the same guy and hand him the form again.

  4. 1st counter same guy will write down the token number on the form

  5. You then turn back and head to the A token waiting area

  6. There you will see the screen where you will have to wait till your token number is displayed

  7. There are employees waiting for you, just show them the Token number, they will call each and every number and guide you where you have to go next.

  8. So once your token number is displayed you will head to Counter A (this will take around 5mins of waiting)

Important tip- Open Digilocker and take a screenshot of your Aadhar card from it, since there might be network issue inside, so utilise the waiting period and do that.

  1. Counter A person will check your original document and xerox.

  2. You will have a computer screen in front of you, they will update and ask you to verify the data.

  3. So my address was updated, but my middle name could not be updated, since you need a Gazette magazine name change document.

  4. I thought it will be rejected but they kept the same name as my old passport and was cleared.

  5. Then counter A will click your new photograph and taken finger prints

  6. Counter A will again ask you to verify your data on computer screen. The counter A person will give you the set of your xerox. Keep them handy because later counters will ask for it.

  7. Counter A takes maximum 10minutes (Counter A person will also remind you take a screenshot of Digilocker Aadhar card)

  8. Now you have to proceed to counter B and Counter C. Both the places are at same location.

  9. The counter B is at the left hand side (kind of a cabin but doors are open). After you enter the waiting area and Counter B is on the left and counter C is an open area in front of you.

  10. There are screens again, where you will have to wait similar to counter A. You will have to check your Token number on screen for Counter B ( waiting will be around 10minutes)

  11. Again there are employees who will call out your token number and great thing for elder or confused people is they also call out the name if no one responds to the token number.

  12. Now you proceed on the Counter B once your token is displayed.

  13. Counter B person will ask for your Original Passport and documents and the ARN form set which you got it from counter A (xerox copies). Counter B will ask you to show the photo of Digi locker and Aadhar card in it (the screenshot you took earlier)

  14. Counter B will take around 2-5mins max

  15. You then have to come out of the cabin the same place again and wait again for your token number on same screen for the next counter, Counter C

  16. Counter C will take waiting around 5-10mins

  17. There is a chance your Counter will be C or AP

  18. I got counter AP 1, which is same as counter C

  19. The last counter, they will ask for same documents again the original passport and the xerox paper set.

  20. Counter C will also ask you to show the screenshot of Digilocker Aadhar card.

  21. Counter C will punch in your old passport and put a stamp of validity expire and voila the process is done.

  22. The overall time from entry to completion of Passport process will take maximum 1 hour, and if you are lucky you could also get done within 40mins

  23. Then while exiting the watchmen there will ask you to fill the feedback, there is a touchscreen computer.

I gave excellent to all sections, it will take around 2mins

  1. Thats it, I hope the above helps whoever is applying or renewing. No need to be stressed people there are way too gentle and friendly. They give you

Key points:

  1. Digi locker is a must

  2. ARN application form printout

  3. Original documents kept in single plastic folder for easy access

  4. Download and Read about what documents are specifically needed for you ( available once you login in the psk website)

Thanks !!

Any other recommendations that offer a good mix of food, ambience and activities? Thanks

General I got groped in Andheri local station yesterday around 7pm, apparently that guy was drunk, i feel traumatised.

So I boarded a Churchgate fast local from my home station and got down at Andheri, i was in ladies first class and the moment I got down i felt something on my thighs, that man touched my thighs and tried to come closer and even touched my waist and made weird face expressions.. all this happened within 10 seconds in a crowded local station… i was with a female friend and we quickly started to walk away… I still feel shocked and my friend told me you could not have done anything since ā€œhe was drunkā€ and might have even tried to beat or assault me if I tried to fight w him.. I was wearing a knee length skirt and a non revealing top. I am still a teenager..

AskMumbai Decent coworking space near Andheri for focused work?

I have been exploring coworking spaces to work out of and can do focused deep work for hours.

Unfortunately the options I explored so far have been taken over by the sales team people who are just cold calling all the time. They are constantly on the phone, loudly talking with no regard for others working next to them.

I used to work out of WeWork at Nariman Point & Worli. They both had dedicated quiet zones that made a huge difference. It was a bummer for me to learn that no such thing exists in WeWork Andheri spaces.

I’m reaching out to the community to see if there any other options.

Political Mumbai’s groundwater under threat amid drought: Seawater could contaminate water sources

Nearly 35 per cent of Mumbai’s area is highly vulnerable to seawater intrusion into freshwater aquifers, raising concerns about the quality and future usability of groundwater.

Excessive pumping could lower freshwater pressure and allow seawater to enter aquifers, making groundwater unusable even in areas where extraction levels are considered safe.

General Delay in Passport

I went for a passport appointment in August it went smoothly then after a week or more of waiting I got a call from the local police station to come for police verification it also went smoothly but it's been a month now, and the passport status is still stuck at ā€œPolice Verification Report for passport application is under review at the Regional Passport Office. Passport will be dispatched after the Police Verification Report is found clear. The applicant would receive an sms/e-mail once the passport is dispatched.ā€
Why is it delaying if someone has experienced this please help
