I would like to tell you all a serious concern regarding the pricing practices of a Bharatgas distributor/retailer in Kothrud, Pune, involving a 5 kg LPG cylinder.
During our latest order, the person handling the booking informed us that the cylinder price had increased by ₹30. When I asked him to clarify the total amount payable, he quoted ₹1,080, including delivery charges.
I repeatedly asked him a straightforward question: What is the actual price of the cylinder, excluding delivery charges? Instead of providing a clear answer, he continued quoting the total amount and avoided disclosing the cylinder's price.
When I pointed out that he had previously charged us ₹970 including the delivery and that an increase of ₹30 would not explain the new amount, he first stated that the cylinder cost ₹860. A few minutes later, when I asked again because I wanted a proper invoice, he changed the quoted price to ₹830.
This raised serious concerns about the transparency and consistency of the pricing. Despite asking him several times to separate the cylinder price from the delivery charges, he repeatedly responded that the final amount would be reflected in the bill. He did not provide a clear breakdown after I informed him that the call was being recorded.
Subsequently, when we visited the Bharatgas retail outlet in Kothrud in person, the invoice for the cylinder showed an amount of ₹760 something, substantially lower than the ₹1,080 demanded over the phone.
The primary concern is not merely the difference in amounts. It is the repeated refusal to disclose the actual cylinder price, the changing quotations of ₹860 and ₹830, and the substantial discrepancy between the amount demanded and the amount reflected on the invoice.
Where to complain in this regard and make him accountable, can the whole store be included in this scam with him?
