Research Professors/Instructors: Has anyone completely dropped traditional lectures? I tried it and got a 100% pass rate, but I'm curious about your experiences.

• Upvotes

I've been experimenting with replacing traditional lecture hours in Higher Education and one of the most recent one was use of "Flipped Class Model" and Game-based-approach.

While engagement went up, students accomplished good marks, I am finding some friction regarding its widespread adoption by other practitioners'/faculty members.

For those of you who have tried similar models by reducing the pure lectures: what kind of pushback did you face from administration or students, and how did you handle it? Would love to hear what works.

My qualifications: I have been a visiting professor and taught many subjects like ERP, Analytics and Project Management. I also have been actively teaching the faculty through Faculty Development Programs on use of game-based approach.

AdmissionProcedure/Fees/CollegeAdmin Regarding completing masters degree in Math, one year was completed, second remained at Delhi Univ.

Hey everyone,
My current qualifications nclude a 3yr Bsc Honours in maths from delhi university, done in 2020, and then i enrolled in MSc straight away in DU itself, but becuase of some really personal financial/family issues in covid, i could only do one year - from 2020 to 21, and then i had to start working ... I mean i got a good job as a financial analyst and that's fine i guess, becuase my marks and skills were somewhat ok i feel, but still i feel like a phd could make sense or such for which i need whole masters degree.

but bcz standard "span period" was 4 years , so now what could i do to complete it....I mean i just feel too lazy now to give entrance like CUET or such, and then start from complete scratch- is there like a way to get somehow 1st year recognized and give 2nd year exams and assesssments etc...
it could be in DU itself, it could be elsewhere...

Kindly suggest.
With Love & Regards ❤️

LifeSciences/Biotech How should I navigate translational R&D / Project Scientist roles vs PhD paths with 2+ YOE in BSL-3 and antiviral screening? (MSc Clinical Virology)

my_qualifications:

  • M.Sc. Clinical Virology (Manipal Academy of Higher Education)
  • B.Sc. Biochemistry, Genetics, and Microbiology (Bangalore University)
  • 2+ Years of Research Experience as a Research Associate in translational drug discovery and antiviral evaluation (Bengaluru).
  • Co-authored publications evaluating repurposed and novel small-molecule inhibitors against viral pathogens.

Hello everyone,

I have spent the last two years working as a Research Associate in preclinical drug discovery, focusing on in vitro antiviral pipelines and live-pathogen handling in high-containment setups. I am at a transition point and evaluating next steps across academic project positions (Project Associate II / Project Scientist I), translational research institutes, and industry R&D.

Core Bench Competencies:

  • High-Containment (BSL-2 & BSL-3): Hands-on operational experience handling pathogenic respiratory viruses (coronaviruses, influenza), vector-borne models, and neurotropic strains (Rabies virus CVS-11). Strict adherence to containment SOPs, biosafety compliance, and waste disposal.
  • In Vitro Antiviral Assays: Phenotypic screening of small molecules/NCEs, plaque assays, TCID50 titrations, viral replicon platforms, and cytotoxicity/viability assays (MTT, luminescence).
  • Molecular Biology & Cell Culture: Maintaining primary/continuous mammalian cell cultures, generating viral stocks, RT-qPCR, nucleic acid extraction, and ELISA.

What I'm Seeking Guidance On:

  1. Academic/Institutional Project Positions: For institutes like NCBS, inStem, JNCASR, IISc, THSTI, and ICMR-NIV—how common is it to secure funded Project Associate / Project Scientist roles requiring high-containment or antiviral screening expertise without having cleared CSIR-NET JRF? Do PIs actively recruit based on prior bench experience via cold emailing with a targeted CV?
  2. Industry R&D vs Academic Centers: For those working in Indian biopharma/CROs (e.g., Syngene, Anthem Biosciences, Biocon, Bharat Biotech) or translational foundations: what is the long-term trajectory for wet-lab virologists holding an M.Sc. + publications versus immediately pursuing a PhD?
  3. Leads & Networking: If your lab, consortium, or startup is actively seeking researchers experienced in live-pathogen handling, replicon systems, or antiviral screening, I would appreciate connecting via DM.

Any perspectives from PIs, current project staff, or industry scientists would be invaluable. Thanks!

Career In MNCs of India, there is almost no value of the Distance Education Degrees for most of the entry and associate level jobs. Then why do online degrees get preference among them?

I have seen plenty of friends facing discrimination to land an entry level job or secure a promotion, even though they have the right skill set. Searched on reddit and found most redditors in India have the same experience. At the same time, the demand for online degrees is surging, especially among the working professionals.

Can anyone explain why this is happening. I mean most of the employers disregard the distance education degrees, including my company (as per the CEO & HR), but they happily recruit online degree holders.

Is not the learning scope in both online and distance the same? More than the skills, most companies also prefer interpersonal skills, which are missing in both type of degrees. Then why is online degree favoured by the employers?

Career Title: I'm in Class 12 with PCMB and confused about my career after losing interest in JEE/NEET

Body:

Hey everyone!

I'm currently in Class 12 with PCMB, and I'm really confused about my career and what I should do after boards.

Initially, I was preparing for JEE/NEET, but Physics has always been a huge struggle for me. I find it extremely difficult to understand the concepts and solve Physics numericals. No matter how hard I try, I struggle with the subject.

Over time, this started affecting my interest in preparing for competitive exams, and now I've lost interest in JEE/NEET. I don't think I want to continue down that path anymore.

Now I'm in Class 12, and I have no idea what career I should choose after school. I'm looking for a course that offers good career opportunities and decent placement prospects after graduation.

My budget is also limited, so I can't afford to spend a huge amount on college fees.

I'm feeling really lost because I don't want to choose the wrong career path and regret it later.

To those who have been in a similar situation, what would you suggest? Which career options should I explore after Class 12 with PCMB if I'm no longer interested in JEE/NEET?

I'd really appreciate some genuine advice because I honestly don't know what to do next.

Thank you! ❤️ My qualifications: Currently studying in Class 12 with PCMB (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Biology).

IT_Career I'm 21. After countless rejections, I finally got placed in my 4th year, only to get laid off because AI can now do entry-level jobs. I'm losing hope.

My_qualifications: B.E. in Computer Science Engineering (2025/2026 graduate), with experience working at a Bengaluru-based startup before being laid off due to Al automation of entry-level tasks.

I'm 21, a Computer Science Engineering graduate from India, and honestly, I'm starting to lose hope about my future.

During my final year, getting placed was my biggest goal. But it turned out to be one of the hardest phases of my life.

I attended multiple placement drives, prepared for countless assessments and interviews, and faced rejection after rejection.

Meanwhile, I watched my friends getting placed while I was still struggling. Every rejection made me question my abilities and whether I'd ever get a job.

But I kept trying.

Finally, after multiple rejections, I got selected at a Bengaluru-based startup during my fourth year.

That moment meant everything to me. I genuinely believed my struggles were finally over and that I could finally start building my career.

But recently, I got laid off.

Not because of poor performance or lack of effort, but because AI can now handle much of the entry-level work I was doing.

After fighting so hard to get my first opportunity, I'm suddenly back at square one.

What hurts the most is knowing that I did everything I could to get here, yet things still fell apart for reasons beyond my control.

Apart from IT, I've always had a passion for filmmaking. I dreamed of pursuing it alongside my career once I became financially stable. But now, even that dream feels distant.

I'm only 21, but watching others move forward while I'm starting over again makes me question my future.

If AI is already replacing entry-level work, how are fresh graduates supposed to gain experience in the first place?

Has anyone experienced something similar?

Did you ever feel completely lost at this age and eventually find your way?

I don't need unrealistic motivation. I just want to hear genuine stories from people who faced setbacks early in their careers but eventually built a good life.

I just want to believe that all these struggles will mean something someday.

Other My brother (ninth grade) refuses to read aloud.

Myquals

I don't know what I can do to make him study. While I do dislike how rote memorisation is a big part of our education system, it's still something we can't bypass, especially in theoretical subjects.

But he refuses to read aloud!

My parents have been yelling at him for years to read aloud while learning, but he resists writing, and he resists reading aloud while memorising.

I've explained the benefits of reading aloud to him and even shown him, by example, how I used to study when I was in school, but he doesn't listen.

I can't even let him do his own thing because his own way of studying doesn't work! When he reads silently, he misses so many words and makes so many mistakes. I know a lot of those mistakes could have been avoided if he simply hadn't been staring at the words in his head.

I'm honestly demotivated at this point. I wish I could just let him do his own thing and face the consequences of his actions, but somehow, I know he'll end up being dragged through his exams by my parents, kicking and screaming, just to make sure he passes.

Political Science A simple breakdown of how the Constitution, CAA, NRC, and NPR actually connect

Hi everyone,

There is often a lot of confusion around how India's citizenship laws fit together. Here is a short, neutral summary breaking down the legal framework step-by-step:

1. Constitutional Baseline (Articles 5–11)

Defines who was a citizen at the commencement of the Republic in 1950 and gives Parliament authority over future citizenship legislation.

2. The Citizenship Act, 1955

The core statutory law regulating citizenship acquisition (birth, descent, registration, naturalization, incorporation) and termination post-1950.

3. NPR & NRC

The National Population Register (NPR) collects usual residents' demographic data. Under the 2003 Rules, NPR serves as the preliminary base to verify citizenship for the National Register of Citizens (NRC).

4. Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), 2019

Amends the 1955 Act to fast-track citizenship for specific persecuted minority communities from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, and Pakistan who entered India before Dec 31, 2014.

my_qualifications: Author of The Citizenship Question (Amazon eBook breaking down Indian citizenship law and constitutional principles for students and general readers).

Full disclosure: I am the author of The Citizenship Question, an eBook written to explain Indian citizenship laws in simple, jargon-free language for students and general readers.

It's available on Amazon (Free on Kindle Unlimited / ₹199).

Career Title: 2nd-year BCA student, confused about my future and feeling lost. Could really use some guidance

Hey everyone,

My qualifications: I'm currently pursuing a Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA), in my second year, and have just started my 4th semester. I'm studying in Bengaluru, India.

Lately, I've been worrying a lot about my career and future because, honestly, I have no clear idea about what I want to do after graduation.😭😭

Sometimes I start overthinking everything — my career, my family's responsibilities, my future, and whether I'll be able to build a good life for myself. There are times when the anxiety gets so overwhelming that I feel like I'm having panic attacks. I constantly feel stressed, lonely, and low on energy.

I'm willing to work hard. I understand that building a good career takes time, effort, and consistency. I'm ready to put in the work, but the biggest problem is that I don't have proper guidance or anyone to show me the right direction.

I see people learning new skills, building projects, getting internships, and planning their careers, while I feel like I'm still trying to figure out where to even begin. It makes me worry that I'm falling behind.

I don't expect anyone to magically solve my problems. I just want to learn from people who have gone through a similar phase in their lives.

If you've ever felt lost, confused, or anxious about your future during college, how did you get out of that phase?

- What did you do during your second year to build a good career?

- If you're from a BCA or similar background, what skills or career paths would you recommend exploring?

- How did you find the right guidance, mentors, or people who helped you move forward?

- What would you do differently if you could go back to your second year?

I'm genuinely looking for advice from people who have been in a similar situation. If anyone is willing to guide me or share their experience, I'd be really grateful.

I want to take responsibility for my future and make things better for myself and my family. I just need some direction to help me take the first step.

Thanks for reading.

PhD Is it a realistic idea to pursue phd in liberal arts with my background?

I had been doing an independent research in the field of art and documenting a dying art form. I am in process of publishing the work I have compiled in form of a book, hopefully by next year it might be published if everything works out as expected. So right now I am on a career break after being laid off, however I had been researching (doing field interviews, primary research etc before leaving my job) for a while now.
I had been thinking of doing Phd (in process of researching institutes, eligibility, I do have a few research topics in my mind.). But I am concerned if my background (non liberal art degree) will be an issue.

I am aiming for a direct Phd. I am not sure if it is a far-fetched idea or if I am being delusional.

My qualifications: B.Tech , 5+ Years of experience in MNC (IT).

Engineering Final-year engineering student feeling lost about career choices. Need honest advice from seniors

my_qualifications: Final year engineering student

Hey everyone,

I'm a final-year engineering student, and we're already halfway through the 7th semester. Honestly, I'm feeling quite lost about my career and could really use some advice from people who have been in a similar situation.

During my first year, I focused mainly on academics. In my second year, I started learning Machine Learning but left it midway because I was struggling with my core subjects. Later, I started preparing for DSA in my fifth semester, but after looking at previous placement statistics, I shifted towards non-tech analyst roles.

Now, despite applying to several non-tech positions, I haven't been shortlisted for any interview. I've also started preparing for core engineering roles, but very few companies are visiting campus, and the offered CTCs are quite low. I'm considering getting back into tech, particularly SDE or AI/ML, but I don't have any internship experience, and my projects are incomplete.

My biggest concern is my financial situation. I come from a middle-class family, have an education loan, and am the eldest child. I feel a lot of pressure to secure a decent job and become financially independent.

For the long term, I'm considering preparing for PSUs and other government engineering jobs. My current plan is to take whatever reasonable job I can get and prepare alongside it. However, I'm unsure whether I should focus on getting a job first or seriously consider GATE preparation at this stage.

I'd really appreciate advice on a few questions:

  1. Should I focus on campus placements or start preparing seriously for GATE and government engineering jobs?
  2. Is it realistic to pursue SDE or AI/ML roles at this stage, given my resume and lack of internship experience?
  3. Would taking a core or non-tech job for financial stability while preparing for government exams be a sensible approach?
  4. What would you prioritise if you were in my position, with only a few months left before graduation?

I know I've made mistakes and wasted time switching between different paths, but I want to make a practical decision now rather than keep repeating the same cycle.

I'd especially appreciate advice from seniors who have faced similar circumstances or had to balance financial responsibilities with career preparation.

Thank you.

Other To people who got ICPC INTERNSHIP selection response.

I've seen quite a few accepted people already in the ICPC internship by PPGF (October Cohort)
And here i am still wondering whether i got accepted or not. Submitted the round 3 presentation on 4th October.

I have 2 questions:
- To the people who got accepted
Did you get any further information regarding the process?

- To the people who got rejected (after round 3) (ques to people who applied earlier as well)
Did you receive a mail stating that your application is rejected?

After many days you got the mail? (In both cases)

JEE/BITSAT/EnggEntranceExams I made a 100% Free Physics Formula App for Class 11 & 12 Board Exams / JEE / NEET (No Paywalls or Signups)

Hey everyone,
To give you some context on my background: I cleared JEE in the top 1 percentile and completed my Computer Science Engineering from a Tier-1 college

Class 11 and 12 Physics can get incredibly overwhelming with the sheer number of derivations and formulas we need to remember for school exams, boards, and entrances.

To make revisions faster, I built an Android app called Physics Formulas IIT JEE & NEET.

Why it's useful for CBSE and JEE students:

  • Covers all major chapters: Mechanics, Electrostatics, Optics, Magnetism, Modern Physics, etc.
  • Perfect for a quick 10-minute glance right before a school unit test or board practical/viva.
  • Clean, lightweight, and works fast when you just need to look up an equation for a numerical.

Full Disclosure: The app is completely free with no locked chapters or premium tiers. It does contain standard banner ads at the bottom to help me cover basic costs, but they don't block your screen or disturb your reading.

I'm a solo developer, so if you find it helpful for your studies, please drop a download and leave a review. Let me know if there are any specific features you want me to add next!

App link:- https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.study.physicsformulas&pcampaignid=web_share

Science/B.Sc/M.Sc Hey VELS, Any Seniors or MSc Biotechnology Students/ Alumni Here? Would Love to Connect and Get Your Advice. 😊

Hey everyone! 👋💜

I’m thinking of joining VELS University, Pallavaram, for my MSc Biotechnology and would love to hear from students or seniors who know the place! 🥹

myquals: Final-year BSc BTMC student, exploring MSc Biotechnology options.

I have a few doubts and thought I’d ask here.

Disclaimer: MANY QUESTIONS BELOW 👇😭🤧 But honestly, I can’t think of a BETTER TRUSTED PLACE TO ASK than here! 😂💜

• Department: How are the faculty, teaching, syllabus and lab facilities?

• Internships: Does the college help students find internships or industrial training, or do we have to search for opportunities ourselves?

• Campus life: How’s college life in general? Are there fun events, cultural activities and opportunities to make friends?

• Hostel: From what I saw online, the shared rooms seem a little crowded, with limited personal space. Is it comfortable to stay there? Also, is the single-room option better in terms of facilities and comfort? How are the:

▫️ Food and personal safety

▫️ Curfew timings for boys and girls

▫️ Laundry and room-cleaning facilities

• Placements: Do MSc Biotechnology students get placed through the college? Which companies hire them, and what kind of starting salaries can we expect?

I know everyone’s experience is different, but I’d genuinely appreciate your honest opinions and advice. I’m sure many students like me would find your experiences helpful when deciding where to study! 🥹💜

Thanks a lot to everyone who takes the time to reply! 😊✨

Career Thinking about pursuing an MA in Archaeology after BBA

Hi! I'm 21 and have completed my BBA. My qualifications are in business administration, but lately, I've been considering pursuing an MA in Archaeology, even though I don't have a background in archaeology or history.

I'm curious about what studying archaeology is actually like, especially for someone coming from a completely different academic background. I'd love to hear from people who have made a similar transition or have experience in this field.

I'm also trying to understand what life after the degree looks like in India, particularly the kinds of jobs people get into and what the career and salary prospects are really like.

I'd appreciate hearing about your experiences, advice, or anything you think someone in my position should know. I'm open to hearing different perspectives!
