40k Tactica Best disposition for DG

I’m debating weather to go purge the foe or priority assets with DG for a RTT next month

If I do purge I’m doing virulent vectorum with Morty,LOC+DST,DP with RR,10 PM+biologus+plauge caster in a rhino, defiler, 10 blight lord termies with either tall man or 10 poxwalekrs not sure which yet and feels very pressurized but SUPER anemic stat check

And

If I do priority I was gonna maybe try something with tallyband and paragons of putrescence maybe? Haven’t made a list for it yet

But I really want to use Morty and withe the drops to blight Lord temries I have been wanting to use them too also with this my first try at death guard I’ve had the army for a bit but never played them out of favoring other armies ATM but feel like busting them out right now

40k Discussion What do you do with 10 man assualt hammernators as a mele army?

Playing a mele dark angels - Lion, icc, deathwing knights. Seems obvious that my skirmish units should screen against nators ingress. By math they seem to one tap most of my hammers and anvils, meanwhile I kills mostly half the squad. Should I just avoid them and screen with chaf while lion deals with other parts of the opponent army? -1 damage stray also seems to bother me.

40k Discussion Incursors vs. Infernus (Reroll 1's 18" vs. +1 BS 12")

I'm having a hard time evaluating these two.
I usually run a heavy dreadnought Iron Hands list and losing the +1 to hit on techmarines and incursors has hurt severely.

Wondering if Infernus Squads are the new Incusor flavour given that:
A) The majority of enemy units will be affected by cover (which Infernus strips)
B) Infernus has better shooting than Incursors overall
C) Negating cover (+1 to BS) is statistically better than rerolls of 1 provided by the Incursors

The only downside being that Infernus only has a range of 12".
On top of this, the Dreadnought detachment already grants them rerolls of 1 to hit.

Has anyone else had success with Infernus replacing Incursors?

40k Tactica Where to deep strike terminators

I've got a 10 space marine terminators unit + ancient + captain.

I normally deep strike close to the enemy, so I can shoot and try to charge.

However, even with the terminator detachment and a charge reroll, there's a 34% chance of failing the charge.

If this happens, my opponents usually come after the terminator unit, reducing it's models significantly.

Losing an important brick in a 34% gamble seems absurd.

Maybe I should deep strike close to weaker units? Maybe deep strike close to home if I see the unit might have problems if the charge fails? Maybe support the terminators with other melee units I'm almost sure are going to charge properly?

EDIT: rapid ingress seems to be the favorite option, which seems obvious if going 2nd, but not so much if going 1st. At least doesn't seem so obvious for a noob like me.

40k List Space Marines into necrons

• Upvotes

Hi all,

I'm playing a 1.5k point casual match over the coming weekend and I was looking for advice on my list, I'm a bit fed up of getting forced around the board by his big units.

I know he's playing a nightbringer C'tan and destroyer spam, so I'm looking to be mobile, get around his c'tan and kill as much as I can. While still scoring good points with priority assets actions.

1.5k | Space Marines - Ultramarines | ICTFF & TSF | PA | 1490 / 2000pts

L1W Marneus Calgar

B1 6 Bladeguard Veteran Squad

L2 Captain in Terminator Armour

B2 5 Terminator Squad

3x5 Intercessor Squad

Ballistus Dreadnought

2x Redemptor Dreadnought

5 Reiver Squad

The plan is to use the three squads of intercessors to screen my backline, and then action on my expansion and maybe the middle of he's playing PTF.

Calgar and the BGV are intended to kill anything in melee, and heroic intervention into units that get too close to the dreadnoughts

The terminator captain and terminators are intended to kill everything on the other side of the board, forming much the same function as Calgar and the BGV just on the other side of the board.

The Ballistus dread is to try and force the C'tan out of its sight lines and to kill any long range destroyer units that are a threat to the melee bricks

The Redemptor dreads are to act as hybrid units, shooting into a brick and charging in to finish it off (with crushing impact if necessary). As well as being a threat around expansion objectives.

Finally the Reivers are to act as utility, reducing OC on contested objectives and forcing his holding units off objectives with support from one of the other units.

I'm looking for advice on the suitability of this list for that purpose and also how you'd play it into his main threat of the C'Tan, which is especially annoying on the centre when I have to play PA into PTF.

40k List First few bricks to get as a new Space Marine player?

I got some great advice yesterday about how to change my Space Marine collection into a more viable list for competing. Basically, I have no bricks. I only have minimum squad counts of a lot of units.

I am leaning towards detachments like Assault or Devastator Brethren, Tacitus Attack Force, and Ironstorm Spearhead. This means I'd prefer Tacitus units, no agressors or heavy intercessor bricks.

I have a Repulsor and a Repulsor Executioner as my only transports right now.

So which of the following below would you recommend? I already have half of these squads already.

Bladeguard Veterans: I think this is the obvious first choice, I have a chaplain or a lieutenant to lead them.

Hellblasters: A box of 10 to form a brick around a lieutenant might be fun. Plus, I could see it being fun to run 2 squads of these, 1 x5 and 1 x10.

Sternguard Veterans: Because their datasheet changed so much, this one is a bit variable.

Jump Pack Intercessors: I've read conflicting things about a brick of these guys. I think it would be cool, as I loved painting them. But I also don't currently have a jump pack character, which I want a captain for the cool factor and I like their ability for movement buffs.

Thank you!

Hey all, looking to try my hand at my first tournament. I haven’t had much success using Dr Google so far, so asking the experienced hands here. Hoping to play 1000-2000pts. Looking in the South East Queensland region. Where and what event organisers would you recommend?

40k Discussion TO here, how do tournaments around you deal with terrains layouts ?

Hello everyone, I organized some tournaments in 10th with some homebrew terrains set up adapted for smaller tables for 1000pts games but with 11th I'm beat and now forced to comply with GW tyranny !/s

So how do events actually deal with terrain layouts around you in 11th ? Do they setup a predetermined layout ?

Do they letcplayers select one from the ABC pool ?

Thanks !

With the speed and development of AI how long do you think it will before AI will instantly be able to solve the most effective lists? I mean it is likely with the right data set it already can.

40k Analysis How have your experiences been with Gravis since the Codex release?

Question in title. Im still working on piecing together an updated Salamanders list. Off the rip people seemed pretty hot on Eradicators and Aggressors, but Im curious what people's experiences have actually been now that the Codex has been out about two weeks. Are they notably improved, or are they still the paper tigers they were pre-codex?

My OCT and early NOV are pretty booked up, so Im not likely to get a match in any time soon. I'd love to hear about other people's experiences. Im bouncing between Forgefather’s and Assault Brethren/the Gravis detachments/Terminator Stormforce. I know recent tournaments have seen Salamander success running tons of Impulsor + Eradicators and Gladiator Valient spam, but that's just not my style.
