So basically, me and my friend were playing some Space marines 2, and we saw these big orbital defence cannons, which we assumed were plasma, then we got into a little argument about how they work.
Now I’m not exactly sure what his argument was, it was kind of unclear, it kept changing every now and then, but basically the gist of it was he was saying that while the gun was being charged and all blue (second image) (hasn’t fired yet), it would make the surrounding environment quote “super hot”.
I disagreed, as it’s fundamentally just a regular plasma gun, just bigger, and if that were the case, imperial guardsman and space marines wouldn’t be able to hold the guns, and I was talking about how the gun is probably made out of some form of heat resistant material, and that the air would only get moderately hot when expelling the heat, except for when it overheats.
I did some research, and apparently the guns are made of heat resistant materials, but also the gun uses some kind of electromagnetic fields to keep the heat contained or something.
Now neither if us are no experts on thermo dynamics, or plasma guns, so pretty much I just wanna know if when a big ‘ol plasma gun is charging, would the surrounding environment get “super hot”.
