When 11th edition started, it seemed like Hidden would be a key factor in every game, especially when shooty armies were involved.
However, in all of the 15+ games I've played, I think it prevented me from shooting only once? Between the fast movement, large terrain footprints, being able to toe into those to see all the way through, and being able to toe in on the outside edges where walls used to be in 10th, it just seems trivial to get within 15 of something and shoot it.
Not a single one of my opponents has ever taken or relied on rules that increase detection range, and neither have I. Gone to ground is so hard to get that it also never comes up. Every game has reverted back to the 10th edition style of staying outside the footprint until I'm ready to activate, which hidden was supposed to make less common, I thought?
Idk, it just seems like a flop of a rule, especially since every new book has hyper mobility built in so far.
Has hidden been a huge factor in your games, it has it been as irrelevant for you as it has been for me?
ETA: I only ever play on 11th competitive terrain layouts. Also, in response to those saying "it forces your opp to get closer" that's definitely true. However, in my experience whenever they get close enough to shoot, whatever they shoot at is 1 tapped and wiped off the board. Because of this, I almost always stage behind a footprint or solid wall, so my opp never even tries to get within 15. This has made almost all my games play out like 10th edition: we both stage behind ruins to avoid getting 1 tapped, and only commit when we have to. This makes hidden almost never come up, and no one I have ever faced has even cared about detection range rules.
