[SIB] Where does the gameplay loop of Enshrouded fall within the rather wide genre of sandbox survival?

• Upvotes

I’m quite tempted by the visuals and the building details, but I’m curious.

Valheim (back when I played) had good building, but a lot of the loop was around finding boss fights.

Minecraft was always, and will always be resource gathering to build or create.

Terraria is..well, it’s terraria, it is the infinite wiki game

Subnautica, Dune Awakening, even games like V Rising, Grounded, and Raft, all have their own nook within this rather vague and wide genre.

Where does Enshrouded fall in it? Is the combat the focus, is it the building, is there NPCs, is it an isolation experience, is there an end goal or is it a personal path you take, what’s the vibe of the progression?

Marvel Cosmic Invasion or Belmont’s Curse?

• Upvotes

I kind of know where this is going to go, but putting it out there anyway. I’m a huge Marvel fan and have wanted to give this one a shot for a while; however, the temptation of a new Castlevania is strong as well. Both have the same price, and both reviewed around the 8/10 level, so what are your thoughts?

[PS5] Should i get Ace Combat 8 or Final Fantasy 7 Twin Pack?

Quick Note :

I'm getting either of them in Physical Format

I was contemplating on which to get due to both franchise being my favourite. I have played almost all the Ace Combat Series except 1,2,4,6 & AH. While for the FF7 i never even played the original thus will be entering it with full blind on the plot. But i do familiar myself with the Final Fantasy franchise as FF8, FF10 and FF12 being my favourite.

Based on your experience, which between this two will be more fun too play and not getting too stale like around midgame or something where the plot getting boring repetitive that make it feels slog to even play?

[PC] Europa Universalis 5 or Crusader Kings 3

Hey there,

After enjoying Stellaris pretty much , i'd like to get another Paradox game.

I've narrowed down to these 2 titles with a slight preference for EU, need some advice knowing that:

- Stellaris is the only paradox game i've ever played, so no Eu 4 or Ck2

- From Stellaris i loved the economics and diplomacy, but i did not love war.

I d rather "build my own castle" without having to worry about other empires coming to claim mine.

- I ll play while kids sleep so its better if i choose the "easier" game from a learning perspective.

I know that both are very hard with a steep learning curve but i d rather pick the less steeper.

- Good/complete tutorial is a bonus

Thank you!

[PC] Should I buy the Dark Arisen dlc for Dragons Dogma 2 full price?

I have the base game already and the dlc is a tad expensive for me. I liked the base game, never really finished it. And by like, i really mean "like". I dont LOVE it as in, its the best game ever, but its also not the worst. Back when i played it, i had a bad pc so it didnt perform well. Now i have a better machine, but even then, the base game isnt changed. Im wondering if the dlc has enough content to justify buying it full price. Fresh enough to renew my interest in the game.

Either that, or i gotta wait for a sale in the winter but im very conflicted. Ive been both positive and negative reviews on the dlc.

[PC] Games similar to *Keep Driving*?

About a year ago, I played *Keep Driving*.

It was probably one of my best gaming experiences—do you guys know of any similar games?

It doesn't necessarily have to be about cars; what I really liked about that game was the nostalgic feeling it gives you—it makes you feel like you're floating on a cloud of thoughts, somewhere between happy and sad. The combination of the “lo-fi” music and the atmosphere, with the sound of the road and the wind...

[PC] Naruto connections

I was playing Storm 4 online on PC today, and it wasn't a good experience. I kept getting the same 3 to 4 repetitive matches on the Asia server, though no one disconnected. I only want to play online matches, but people say the game is dead and has serious in-game connection issues. Is that actually true for everyone?

[PS5] Elden Ring or Crimson Desert

Which open world game is better?

I like open world games with good exploration. Which has better exploration? Like finding secret areas, secret weapons, unique enemies.

I also want some narrative threads to tether myself to the world. I’ve heard neither have a good main story, but I’m fine with that, as long as the lore, world building, and general writing are quality. I like to dive into lore of games I play. Which is better written?

I haven’t played much soulslikes, but I really enjoyed Bloodborne when I played it a while back.

My favorite open worlds are Breath of the Wild, Fallout New Vegas, Subnautica, Witcher 3.

[PC] Arc Raiders or Wardogs?

To preface, I have around 8k hours across tac FPS titles like CS2 and R6S. For large scale warfare games, I played around 1k hours on BFV, which was one of my favorite games due to the gunplay and aesthetics (I never was able to get into BF6, however).

From what I’ve seen, I feel like Wardogs is an intersection between the tac FPS elements I’d enjoy and large-scale warfare like battlefield. It seems like a more casual game I can play solo without needing to rely on teammates. That said, Arc Raiders is on sale for $20, and is a more established game with unique elements than other games don’t have. Given this information, what game would you recommend?

Mortal Shell 2=fun?

I will preface with the fact that I hated Demon’s Souls, Dark Souls, Bloodborne and never tried similar games after these. It appears that Mortal Shell 2 is like these but playing the trial and finding checkpoints and the ability to die and regain your shell makes me hopeful I can play one of these games and not get frustrated or feel my time was wasted, as someone who is more limited now and been gaming for about 40 years. Any opinions are appreciated.

[PS5] Ace Combat 8, Dragons Dogma 2 Dark Arisen, or Blood of Dawnwalker?

Just curious what everyones preferences are. Coming off of finally finishing up Crimson Desert (long ass game) and all three look like my vibe.

With AC8- I played a tiny bit of Ace Combat 7 - my only experience with the genre. Played Armored Core though and it felt similar enough, enjoyed it for what it is. I'm not generally the kind of gamer who does multiple playthroughs, so I'm on the fence bc I foresee it being kind of short.

DD2-- I've held off on it bc I heard the base game was real rough, but been hearing the DLC fixes it up a fair bit and its decent now. I do like me some Capcom games and open world exploration, but the worry IG is that the game is still rough around the edges.

Dawnwalker is almost entirely on the fence bc I hate time constraints. I know thats like a dead horse at this point, and that its not SUPER constricting, but still. Witcher 3 might be my fav game OAT and I see this compared to that often, which catches my eye.

[PS5] Been wanting to give Crimson Desert a try

My main concern is how well the game performs on a base PS5. Didn’t buy initially because of similar concerns but now with the Enhanced version out has the game improved performance wise on a base machine. I know the game is not for everyone but if the game ends up running well who knows i might end up liking it.

Should I buy Active Matter if...

  1. I love STALKER

  2. I enjoy extraction shooters

  3. I suck at pvp

  4. I'll mostly play solo and PVE but might dabble in PVP if it's not too sweaty

  5. I love STALKER

I don't hear it mentioned much, but it's often praised highly when it is. I just want a game to play in between longer story games and I think Active Matter looks pretty cool. How's it looking? Considering my conditions, should I buy it? Thanks.

[Other] Recommend me a good detective/logic game

I absolutely love logical deduction/detective/mystery games. Case/Rise of the Golden Idol, Obra Dinn, Chants of Sennaar, Outer Wilds (my favorite game of all time). Even a game like Tunic has some mind blowing logical discoveries.

I’ve tried a few others and they just didn’t quite scratch the same itch. Blue Prince and Seance of Blake Manor come to mind. Solid games but not quite for me.

Anyone have any other recommendations? I’m sure some things have come out more recently that would be up my alley (heard something about this Roottrees game, maybe that’s good? Dunno)

[PS5] Hellraiser Revival or Valor Mortis?

Hey all! A little background: I love horror and I love history. I am a veteran souls player so soulslike games don’t bother me. This has been a great month for games, but I can really only get one for now. I like what I’ve seen in both games, but I honestly can’t decide between the two. I know Hellraiser has some jank in it, but I’m willing to look past it. Valor Mortis looks amazing and like a true hidden gem of a game with its setting, gameplay, voice cast, and art. So ultimately, which game should I get? Many thanks in advance friends!

[PC] Looking for a game that I can sink hours into with rewarding loot

Destiny 2 is kind of dead but I miss playing for hours and finding rare loot/completing long quests to get a specific reward. I've heard ARPGs like diablo 2 or monster hunter world could be good for this, but I've never played a traditional ARPG. Would one of these scratch that itch? Any other recommendations?

[PC] [BACKLOG] FF7 rebirth, kingdom hearts collection, kingdom come, or something else.

So bit different from usual, already got these games and they are sitting in the backlog. Just finishing FF7 remake, specifically doing the intermission, wanted to ask, am I better jumping straight into rebirth, or would it be better to take a break and touch something else? Of note in the backlog, to fill the "rpg" niche, it has kingdom hearts, the full collection and kingdom come deliverance 1. Theres also Crimson desert but that one is on hold after a few hundred hours to focus on the ones that can actually be finished. Or I could take a break from it, without having to jump into another big ass rpg and go play something else, like, idk mortal shell? Another month long minecraft phase? It would probably be faster than starting any of those.

In short, almost done with ff7 remaks, do I follow up with rebirth straight, take a break from ff and play some other rpg, or take a break from rpg overall to no exhaust rebirth and go play some more action focused or just shorter game.

[PS5] Stuck with a growing backlog

Hoping to have some help picking between the following:

RE Requiem
Silver Pines
007 First Light
Pragmata
Ghost of Yotei
Indiana Jones and the Great Circle
The Blood of Dawnwalker

Am I missing any major games from 2026 for PS5?

Recent games that I beat include Mina The Hollower, Silksong, Hades 2, and the Demon Souls remake.

EDIT: Ok but what about Onimusha?

Persona 3 reload on switch 2 is beautiful

Especially on handheld - it runs like an absolute dream and the visuals are beautiful.

I’m 5 hours in and excited to get my teeth into this one. So awesome knowing that metaphor is coming to the switch 2 soon and next year we’ll have persona 4 revival…and eventually persona 6!!

How do you guys feel about these?

[PC] I played Doom 2016 recently I really loved it and since the halloween sale is coming up whitch game should i get? Wolfenstine 1, Doom Eternal, Dmc5

Ik Doom Eternal might be the obvious choice but i kinda want something a little different from the Doom formula and setting, but im willing to get it if the two games differ enough. As for Dmc 5 i fear it might not be my cup of tea, idk why but i like the premise. That leaves Wolfenstine it was what i was planning to get but i heard it was just as long as Doom. So what should i get yall?

[PS5] Ace Combat 8, Control, or Galactic racer? Which one will be most expensive longest?

I understand there's no way to predict this, but based off of past patterns what do you all think? I definitely plan to play all 3 eventually, but with GTA6 coming I'd prefer to not buy two full priced games within a month. I'm torn between these 3 so figured that should be the tie breaker!

AC8-I have loved ace combat games since the PS2 era. I seem to remember buying 7 for around 40 a while after it had been out, but dont recall if it ever really got lower/found its way on PS+

Control Resonant - Control was such a pleasant surprise to me when I found it on PS plus. It was one of the games that I played that I feel really showcased the PS5 and my Samsung TV could do. Not only was the first on ps+, but i feel like other games from that dev have landed on ps+ in a reasonable time frame l.

Galactic Racer - its been a long time since I've played a good face paced, chaotic arcade-y racer. Obviously the nostalgia factor is there, but the gameplay seems tight, and I'm intrigued by the premise of the campaign. I feel like star wars games are hit or miss with discounts/ps+.

[PS5] Dragons Dogma 2: Dark Arisen, Control Resonant or Crimson Desert?

Trying to pick out a game to ask for Christmas and have narrowed it down to these three.

I like open world action RPGS so all fit my preferences but from what I can tell the strengths are:

Control Resonant: Best story telling/plot of the three with most creative visuals and environments.

Dragons Dogma: Biggest emphasis on big monster encounters and boss fights.

Crimson Desert: Sheer variety and quantity of things to do.

I also have a base PS5 so let know about anything to do with performance I should know about

[PC] should i buy galactic racer or control resonant?

they both look great but i can only afford one right now, i was planning on getting control resonant but then galactic racer came out. i haven't played the first control but i was hoping that wouldn't matter, although i guess i could also buy the first one. i think i'm slightly leaning towards galactic racer since it has multiplayer, although i'm a little bit worried that it's going to die

Should I get Star Wars Zero Company if I enjoyed Baldurs Gate 3?

I really love Star Wars and like many fans have been waiting for another good game from them and I hear Zero Company has a really good story and focus a ton on it. But there are 2 things I hear- its a strategy game I have never played one of those before but the gameplay looks similar to Baldurs Gate 3 and I loved that. The other thing I have heard is the game is very hard I like playing video games but im really bad at them and often play on easier modes so I can actually play and enjoy it the reason im asking is because I heard even just normal mode is very hard so is easy mode very hard as well?

[PC] Should i buy Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy?

so i've never played any Plague Tale game before, but i heard so much good things about this new game that now i want to try.

i just don't really understand what the game is about, is like Uncharted or somenthing? idk it reminds me uncharted 4

oh and one more question, can i play this game before the two other ones?
