Murdered By Words 𩞠Post-birth abortion doesn't exist
32
u/BIayneRobinson 13h ago
Republicans are genuinely unintelligent enough to believe this nonsense.
Theyre a lost cause.
30
u/henryeaterofpies 13h ago
At first its hard for me to believe that anyone would think a woman would intentionally to through 9 months of pregnancy with all its complications and body changes (and health risks) to have an abortion at 9 months unless there was a strong medical reason to do so.
Then I remember Republicans view women as property and less than human, so they definitely don't think about what the woman is going through.
4
u/MelloBea16 13h ago
Republicans feel like a different species of Humans. Utterly dumb and braindead!
3
u/clonedhuman 12h ago
They are not a different species--they're just the lowest form of our species. They genuinely (and measurably) lack the features that separate us most distinctly from the rest of the apes like creativity, empathy, feelings of community, the ability to rationally and consistently process information, and so on.
Creativity and imagination are some of the most recently evolved distinctly human characteristics, a higher human function located (more or less) in the prefrontal cortex, the 'newest' part of the brain that separates us from apes. The prefrontal cortex is "[o]ne of the last places in the brain to mature [and] is thought of as the 'personality center' and is the cortical region that makes us uniquely human." The prefrontal cortex also "controls much of the brainâs creativity, a factor in bolstering oneâs imagination."
A study from 2021 that measured political attitudes correlating with damage to different sections of the brain found
...people with frontal lesions held more conservative (or less liberal) beliefs than those with anterior temporal lobe lesions or no lesions. Additional analyses predicting ideology by extent of damage provided convergent evidence that greater damage in the dorsolateral prefrontal cortexâbut not the amygdalaâwas associated with greater conservatism.
The Conservative mindset not only correlates with damage to the prefrontal cortex, but an inability/failure to mature fully and actually develop the prefrontal cortex. It's why they lack empathy--to empathize, one must be able to imagine experiencing life as someone else, and the Conservatives are quite literally incapable of using their imaginations like that. It's a higher human function, one of the very few things separating us from the apes, that Conservatives simply don't have.
2
u/MayoBear 10h ago
Also an enlarged amygdala- so they over-respond to fear.
I would love to see some college dudes roast their conservative classmate "haha, your amygdala is enlarged!"
1
u/BizSilver5013 12h ago
I wonder, then, why people with frontal lobe dysfunction due to autism or ADHD tend to be more left-leaning than average.
Is it because they were treated like shit from day one? Or is it because it's a different type of dysfunction from people with frontal lobe lesions?
3
u/The_Rope_Daddy 11h ago
Because the âdysfunctionâ in an autistic or ADHD brain is an overdeveloped frontal lobe, not a damaged or under developed one.
1
u/clonedhuman 12h ago
I think the 'failure to develop the frontal lobes' is likely the culprit for the strong correlation between that lack of development (our outright damage) and Conservative politics, but I'm not 100% sure. Conservatives tend to stop developing their brains as teenagers, while most of us keep developing our frontal lobe functions into our 20s.

I Always assume , possibly mistakenly, that the representative isnât really that stupid. On the other hand he definitely, and strongly, believes that his Fox News watching constituency has the intellectual capacity of warm oatmeal. The really sad part is that if they believe this, heâs probably right.

It's unintelligent to believe people want abortion all the way until birth? There are comments right below yours supporting exactly that.Â
13
u/Significant-Dog-8166 13h ago
Stupid post. Many miscarriages require abortions. Yes I am advocating abortion up until the moment of birth because a miscarriage is exactly the moment of birth of a non-viable fetus.
8
u/BizSilver5013 12h ago
Plus many of these "late-term abortions" are stillbirths, and the parents generally wanted the child.
Source: foster sister had to get a stillbirth removed seven months in, she gave the baby a funeral and everything.
5
u/Significant-Dog-8166 12h ago
That's a painful experience. It blows my mind people don't listen to these personal stories more. Thanks for sharing.
3
u/thegreatjamoco 10h ago
You mean women donât get accidentally pregnant and then wait 8.5 months to get an abortion just for the sick thrills?
14
u/DangerousQuestions1 12h ago
Nobody likes abortion. Nobody. What democrats value is bodily autonomy, privacy, and rights to choose. Republicans are quick to scream "No government interference in my life" when asked to use taxes to help oeople, but are all in on government intervention when it comes to ensuring that women's righ5sxare destroyed.
6
u/saintsithney 10h ago
I've started asking them "Would you support a 0.5% tax increase to make NICU stays free?"
90% of them don't understand the correlation at all, or say, "Hospital bills are the PARENT'S RESPONSIBILITY!!!! NO ONE WANTS TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY ANY MORE1111!!!!11!1!!" So shareholders are allowed to murder babies, but rape victims aren't allowed to abort embryos.
6
u/Beauvoir_R 13h ago
He's a republican with a microphone in front of him. It's assumed that he's lying.
6
u/Nick_Bruiser 12h ago
GOP never campaigns on "Here's what we're gonna do for you..." It's always "The Democrats are gonna do this if you don't vote for us." And GOP voters fall for it. This is why nothing ever really gets better for Americans under Republican governance. Because they never say they'll improve anything so they're not held to that standard. Their only reason for existing is to prevent Democrats from actually doing things. And I say this as an independent over. But I've admittedly moved left since the tangerine-tinted tyrant because the figurehead of the GOP.

- Abortion up to birth - there are comments in this very thread supporting that
- "Abortion" after birth. Very obviously referring to the Clancy trial, where people have been fully supporting her and excusing the killing of children.
- Mutilating children - support for childhood transgender surgery has been growing and absolutely exists
Prove a single one of those wrong
5
u/CowabungaCthulhu 13h ago
Circumcision is the gentlital mutilation of children. But, hey, no one ever accused transphobes of being smart...

4
u/ZongoNuada 13h ago
Trump accused Democrats of this during a Presidential debate in primetime and no one stood up to him. We are past trying to correct anyone because they let him pass on that years ago.
The US is very cooked when this cannot be seen clearly. On both sides of politics.
4
u/Exotic_Insurance_610 13h ago
Republicans are just americans who failed the education system so badly they cannot tell a lie when told to their face.
4
u/Useful_Strength_0405 13h ago
1% of the population has had an abortion past 13 weeks. 1% has held steady since 2000. The people that believe itâs ALWAYS the womanâs choice to do what she wants with her body!!
2
u/haey5665544 9h ago
Just want to clarify, is that 1% of the population, 1% of women, 1% of pregnancies, or 1% of abortions?
1
u/Pasta-Al-D3nte 11h ago
rule of really big numbers still applies here, that's about 3.4 million abortions in a quarter of a year, that's about 12 million abortions in a year and 312 million abortions since 2000
1
u/ophmaster_reed 9h ago
Your numbers are WAY off. https://www.guttmacher.org/fact-sheet/induced-abortion-united-states
1
1
u/Mandy_M87 9h ago
I thought it was 1% of abortions occur after that point, so it would really be far less than 1% of the population.
4
u/starberry87 12h ago
Ugh had an independent surveyor (that I'm pretty sure was a GOP push poll even though he denied it) ask me if Talarico supporting abortions full term/post birth would change my mind. I may have went on about a five minute rant of talking about how such a thing doesn't exist and I felt insulted they'd even be asking such things and then went into really graphic details about pregnancy complications that require a termination to the guy on the phone. I think it was the most he ever learned about the female reproduction system.
5
u/freemanposse 12h ago
They know their base will believe anything a Republican says and nothing a Democrat says, so they can tell whatever wild, ridiculous lies they want.
3
u/KingHygelacReturns 12h ago
Can I sign up to be post-birth aborted at 32 or is it too late

u/Mandy_M87 9h ago
I read an article where someone was saying that some allow it up until 40. Obviously it's fake, but if it was real, you still have time.

Where do these people get this hokum?

3
u/Agreeable_Sweet6535 12h ago
Iâm arguing for abortion up until the moment of birth, because throwing red tape and uncertainty in front of a doctor making life and death decisions during the final days of a pregnancy is more dangerous than betting nobody is psychotic enough to want a last minute abortion for no good reason and that theyâll find a doctor willing to do so also for no good reason.
People donât go 8+ months expecting a child, and say âletâs kill it for funsiesâ. They suffered morning sickness and gestational diabetes and having their skin stretched out because they wanted a living child to raise. If they and their medical professionals feel an abortion is necessary, they owe no justification to a politician.
3
3
u/Jayalp12 12h ago
Dem Governor:
What he said: While discussing a proposed bill in the Virginia General Assembly that would ease restrictions on third-trimester abortions, Northam described a scenario involving a severe fetal abnormality or a non-viable pregnancy. He stated that an infant could be delivered, kept comfortable, resuscitated if desired, and that a discussion between the physician and mother would ensue regarding the infant's status and care.
3
3
u/Eikthyrnir13 12h ago
Nobody is trying to "mutiliate" children. I hate this so much. People I love dearly have done this journey. It takes YEARS in a queer friendly state to jump through the hoops necessary before you even TALK about surgery of any kind. There is nowhere in the US a kid can go to school and come home with surgery done. Schools literally have to call a parent before giving a kid an ibuprofen.
3
u/ScottTJT 12h ago
My god, with each passing month, more and more South Park jokes are becoming reality...
3
u/dracorotor1 6h ago
The fact that they obsess over âpost birth abortionsâ to try and appear like the good guys tells you how absurd their actual position is.
4
4
u/Sonar_Taxbreak_1138 12h ago
Someone says "up to birth" they should be called out by news media, immediately asking who is advocating for it, keep pressing them for details. Humiliate them into admitting they're liars.
4
u/ophmaster_reed 9h ago
There are states that have abortion up till birth, but the republicans fail to mention that abortions that happen close to term are wanted pregnancies where something has gone catastrophically wrong with the development of the fetus and the parents and doctors decide that an abortion is the best course to reduce suffering of the doomed fetus and grieving parents.
Republicans would rather the mother be forced to carry the doomed pregnancy and birth the child and watch it die in front of her.
1
u/Sonar_Taxbreak_1138 7h ago
Time to clarify the difference between "on demand" and "to save the life of the mother when the fetus is unviable".
1
u/ophmaster_reed 6h ago
Agree, but in the context of a situation where the fetus is nonviable, but alive while in the womb, the motherâs life may not necessarily be at more risk than an average pregnancy.
1
u/Sonar_Taxbreak_1138 6h ago
If the fetus is nonviable and the removal isn't more dangerous to the woman than leaving it, there's little reason not to abort it. If "abort" is even the right word in this case.
3
u/ophmaster_reed 6h ago
Itâs absolutely medically and legally an abortion, and one that would be outlawed in places where âonly life of the motherâ is allowed after a certain number of weeks. Thatâs why o support removing those barriers completely and let doctors and pregnant mothers be the ones who decide when an abortion is warranted, not a lawmaker who has no medical knowledge.

Seems that most american government officials are.. simply put, fucking simple. How do all these brain dead people lead that country??? And then brag about being the hottest country in the world? If what is happening in the u.s. didn't affect the rest of the world, we would agree that its horrifying yet overwhelmingly comical. That's if the idiocy didn't reach far beyond the borders of the United States. Thanks to the hottest country in the world, the rest of the world suffers immeasurably because of the arrogance and absolute lack of intelligence of one ignorant nation.

Oh no.. I know the rest is beautiful .and people are amazing.. what im wondering is how this is happening? That's all. Love the u.s. and the friends and people we have got know from there. Just don't understand why ? Literally why? Why is this now a worldwide problem?
2
u/Gruejay2 5h ago
Social media. Only thing that plausibly explains why it's happening all over the world at the same time.
1
u/justdisa 12h ago
My opinion? Voter suppression.
1
u/wilmaCat76 10h ago
Ok so what suppresses it? Land of the free ..no? Why can't law be enforced in the ultimate nation of nations? Why do people stand Idly by. you fund both sides of a war in Eastern Europe and the corruption that is within the government officials is absolutely blatant and transparent, yet nothing is done at all. crazy. Crazy, horrendous, just emphatically mind boggling . The rest of the world can see this. I'm just wondering why It can't be dealt with, within the confines of its own nation and why it spills over into the rest of the world and becomes everybody else's problem? Not an exaggeration to say that literally billions of people would like to understand.
1
u/justdisa 5h ago
And thatâs how I know youâre not actually interested in the answer to this question. Next time, if someone asks you if you know the difference between MAGA and the rest of America, just say no.
1
u/wilmaCat76 1h ago
Really I could care less the difference. I just want to know why no one can uphold the law and handle the nations issues?. Why is everything so backwards illegal corrupt and unapologetically embraced. ? Why ?
1
u/justdisa 58m ago
Really I could care less the difference.Â
I know. That is incredibly apparent in everything you say. Your ignorance would be excusable if you weren't here lecturing people, but you are, so it isn't.

Whoa. These democrat folks sound pretty bad.
I have a question though. If they're murdering babies after birth, then why are none of these doctors arrested for it, why aren't there any actual news stories about it or documented medical occurrences? Or even a law they've tried to pass to make these legal. Surely, there's evidence of it, right?

Also⊠just as a side note for everyone too stupid to just⊠google it.
The field of medicine has a concept called âbest practiceâ which are basically guidelines determined by metric fucktons of research, data, and is ever evolving as technology and understanding change.
Even in states where abortion is completely unrestricted, youâll never find a doctor willing to perform an elective abortion late into the pregnancy. Why? Cuz itâs too dangerous. Far more dangerous than birth.
And trans kids arenât getting surgery!
There ARE âgender affirmingâ surgeries performed on minors in the USA. Theyâre almost exclusively breast removal (I actually couldnât find any documented cases of minors getting bottom surgery).
Hereâs the problem though. Almost 100% of the breast removal surgeries are happening to CISGENDER BOYS. Thatâs right. Straight heterosexual boys who grow breasts due to whatever medical condition leads to them growing.
Also. As for the actual trans kids? Thereâs âbest practiceâ guidance for that stuff too! The current course of treatment for the vast majority of minors who are trans, is counseling/therapy/assessment, hormone blockers to delay puberty till adulthood, and then theyâre free to decide what to do.
So all the fear mongering over post birth abortions and trans kids getting surgery is literally 100% bullshit fear mongering.
3
u/Phobia562 6h ago
People are all for medically necessary corrective surgery until it's for trans kids and then they lose their minds
0
u/Itchy-Pension3356 6h ago
Is cutting off healthy body parts considered "corrective surgery"?
3
u/Phobia562 5h ago
When it's healthy cornea to fix cataracts, yeah, when it's healthy breast tissue on a boy with a hormonal disorder, yeah, when it's cutting a hairlip into more typical lips, yeah. Surgery isn't just for cancer or dead tissue, healthy tissue isn't really the issue.
-1
u/Itchy-Pension3356 5h ago
Doctors don't cut off healthy corneas to fix cataracts.

It does not push for abortion up to birth. This is a lie.

Let me preface by saying I have no negative opinion on abortion, I believe itâs a morality issue and your morality isnât my problem. That being said Miss Fairchild needs to take into account what state you live in.
In Massachusetts for example there is no limit on when an abortion will be carried out. There are restrictions after 24 weeks where it needs to be ânecessaryâ, but the definition of necessary is pretty ambiguous and includes mental health of the mother as a factor, so pretty much anyone who wants to have one right up to the last minute. Again Iâm not against you committing your own sins, doesnât affect me at all, Iâm just trying to provide the most accurate information for the debate.

1
u/TheJadeGoddess 9h ago
We used to have rules about when you could not have an abortion after a certain number of months unless there was dire circumstances. Even when we put limits on it before, we made sure to exclude life or death situations. That way women didn't die because the doctors refused to remove a dead fetus.
Meanwhile children starve and build up a debt at public schools for lunch. Certain people are actively trying to take health care away from children. If you really want to be pro life, start by caring for the people already here and suffering.

After viability, abortion is LABOR! It's very rarely killing the fetus, that's only in instances where late stage it's going to cause complications or the fetus will suffer. God, republicans love lying about reality.
Further, nobody's doing surgeries or trans care on 5 year olds, teenagers are fully capable of, with their doctors and parents, making informed decisions about themselves!

u/anonymous_teve 8h ago
In case anyone is wondering, as the wording is strange, he's clearly referring to partial birth abortions, which have been banned for some years except to save mother's life.
I also think it's important for the pro-choice movement to codify what Morgan says, that "no one is advocating for abortion up until the moment of birth." It would be good to know that last possible moment that 'no one' is advocating for legal abortion for. It really does make the arguments much more convoluted when people keep just talking past each other, as you can see in these two quotes. Is the pro-choice movement really unified on a timing for abortion being illegal after some point (e.g. third trimester)? I actually do NOT think it's unified,

"If a mother is in labor, I can tell you exactly what would happen. The infant would be delivered. The infant would be kept comfortable. The infant would be resuscitated if thatâs what the mother and the family desired, and then a discussion would ensue between the physicians and the mother."
This is a direct quote from 2019 by former Gov. Northam in VA. But sure, nobody's for it. And before you come at me with your "oh, see, he said the baby would be resuscitated", reread that sentence - He said "...if that's what the parents and family desired," so he's completely ok with letting the baby die if that's what the parents wanted.
1
u/Adventurous_Coach731 2h ago
This was in the context of babies that are nonviable. Because yes, just like parents with a child in critical condition may not choose to try and save it because they donât think thereâs a chance, same for a newborn. Its hard to not call all magats illiterate and delusional when these are your talking points.

by pro-choice logic, a pantheistic god (which is to say a god who is the universe itself) would have the right to end any or all of our lives on a whim, purely because we're part of it's body.
Oppression logic sure does suck when it's thrown back in your face, doesn't it?

"So in this particular example, if a mother's in labour, I can tell you exactly what would happen," he told WTOP's Ask the Governor programme Wednesday.
"The infant would be delivered, the infant would be kept comfortable, the infant would be resuscitated if that's what the mother and the family desired. And then a discussion would ensue between the physicians and the mother."
Sounds a lot like after birth to me.

You do understand that they're talking about a newborn that is terminal and actively dying, hence mentioning "resuscitated if that's what the mother and the family desired". They're not talking about killing a healthy newborn. Or one that has any hope of living on their own. They're talking about a dying newborn. One that cannot be saved long term.
It's on par with having a person of any age in the final stages of cancer or heart failure or whatever, and not forcing them to live or suffer beyond what their body can endure. Make them as comfortable as possible, and allow them to pass peacefully. This is what they're talking about.

Do you not understand that the governor is talking about after birth? That's what we're talking about here.Â
Op posted that this is not a thing, doesn't exist and is something no one is for. This a former governor, talking about a bill that was up for vote. I'm sick of the lies. It was "safe, legal and rare". Then the second that was agreed on, it started directly marching toward killing kids deemed "not viable". And if you read very closely, this is just something that the doctor and mother can decide on.... So my question is, where does it stop? You have Canada pushing to be able to kill people who simply have "mental health issues". That stared with terminally ill people on their deathbed, now were at having a bad few months being enough to qualify for the government to end your life in just 10 short years.Â
If you can't see where this goes, you need to crack open a history book, go to the glossary and look under E for eugenics then keep going through G and H. Wake up.Â

And yet... she's STILL not either dead or at least in jail.

I mean, sheâs paralyzed from the waist down and locked in a secured psychiatric facilityâŠsheâs not exactly roaming free while awaiting the next trial.

How about the day BEFORE birth? Is it still a woman's choice then? Is it a human then? Is it murder then?

Nobody - and I mean nobody - is getting a âday before birth abortionâ
Unless. Something has gone horribly horribly wrong with the baby. At that point, the babies room is painted. Theyâve picked out names. This isnât a âwell I just donât wanna be pregnantâ thing.
Like get a grip on reality.

cool opinion, but the truth is that it all depends on how the is law written

The law requires the judgement of the doctor believing itâs medically necessary

Why is it the only arguments ever made from the anti-choice side always involve such absurd sets of parameters that they would never exist in reality? Is it really that hard to find a realistic argument to make against abortion? If a person needs to go to such absurd lengths to try to make a point, perhaps they should rethink their stance on the matter.

No itâs not hardâŠabortion is always wrong because itâs taking a human life. Quite easy.

Cool opinion, but you donât just pull up to the hospital and order â1 abortion please, and make it hasty!â
Multiple doctors would need to be involved in this and I donât think they would risk their medical license on a woman rolling up at 40 weeks being like ânah I changed my mind just kill itâ.

Massachusetts allows abortions up until birth and based on the Clancy case, are okay with post birth abortions as well. If she is tried again she will get off.
