Is a gap year worth it before eramus mundus?

I'm currently preparing for my masters degree abroad under erasmus mundus. However, considering all the paperwork it requires, it made me consider to take a gap year (sep2027 -june/july2028) and apply for the program in december 2027 so that I will join the program in September 2028. The gap year will take place after my graduation, and during it I will work a part-time job in an airport, complete my language certificates in Italian and Japanese (beginner level) and potentially join internships which I of course will add to my CV when I apply. I am worried if things will not go the way that I expected or that the universities will consider the gap year as a weakness. If anyone has gone through this situation pls share your opinion and advice I will be eternally grateful. šŸ™šŸ» 🄲

Erasmus

Hello everyone! 😊

I’m preparing my Erasmus application for next semester, but I’m still really torn about which destination to choose. I meet the academic requirements for both universities, but I’m not sure which one would be the better fit for me.

I’m choosing between the University of Vienna in Austria and the University of Turin (UniTo) in Italy.

I’d love to experience an international environment, meet lots of different people from different countries and, hopefully, stay in touch with them even after Erasmus. I want to step out of my comfort zone, have fun, travel and learn new things. At the same time, I hope university won’t take up all of my time and that I’ll have the opportunity to make the most of the whole experience.

What attracts me to Vienna: The university has a good academic reputation, and from what I’ve researched, the city offers plenty of opportunities, an excellent public transport system and easy access to other countries. I also know there’s a Bulgarian community there and that getting by with English is relatively easy. However, I’m worried that the academic workload might limit my time for socialising and travelling.

What attracts me to Turin: Italian culture feels somewhat closer to my own, and the atmosphere seems more relaxed and welcoming. There’s also a chance that I might go with a fellow student from my course, which could make adapting to a new environment easier. On the other hand, I’m wondering whether there will be enough opportunities to meet a diverse range of people and travel, as well as how difficult it might be to find accommodation.

I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who has done Erasmus in either of these cities or knows the universities and student life there well.

I hope you’ve managed to get the general idea despite this little essay, haha! Thank you in advance to everyone who takes the time to share their experiences and advice! ā¤ļø

Erasmus in Italy (Palermo/Cagliari)

Hello everyone! I“m deciding between Palermo and Cagliari for my autumn semester next year. As an Art and Aesthetics student Im really excited about Italy“s rich artistic heritage and vibrant culture. I love meeting new people, local traditions and of course the sea! 🌊 Also Im planning on learning Italian before I go (if I go :D), but I“m not sure if a basic level will be enough, or if locals generally speak english. For anyone who has lived or studied in Palermo/Cagliari, I“d love to know -

How“s the vibe in the city? Is it easy to connect with locals and make friends? :)

What“s the weather like in autumn/spring semester? Is swimming ok? xp

What“s the cultural and artistic scene like for an Art student?

Also Is the average student budget manageable for rent, food and going out?

Any insights, personal experiences, or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Grazie mille! :)))))))))))

Erasmus Mundus Reading Recommendations for GLOBED

Hello, I'm preparing to apply for certain programs for my Master's and I was wondering if anyone would be willing to share some reading recommendations regarding Education Policies. I'm a TEFL grad and I used to follow my lectures closely so I have some experience with my own country but I'm looking for more comprehensive textbooks, especially the classics in the field or ones that cover the topic in a more international manner.

Any other advice is highly appreciated and thank you in advance!!!
