Culture PJ Bored Game Night Meetup - Friday 16th Oct 8pm, Bored. Board Game Cafe
- Time: Friday 16 Oct, 8pm-Midnight (1st & 3rd Friday of each month)
- Place: Bored. Boardgame Cafe & etc , 78B, SS22/25, Damansara Jaya, 47410 Petaling Jaya, Selangor- FB, TT, IG , Google Maps
- Cost: They have agreed to provide a special price of RM20 plus drink.
- Food: Plenty of snacks and finger food to choose from their menu and also from their full service restaurant downstairs Nichole’s for heavier meals. There is also a self service pantry with instant noodles and snacks. If that's not enough, plenty of eateries nearby.
- RSVP: RSVP here. The cafe tends to be busier on Fridays so they want to know how much space they need to reserve.
- Buddy System: We ask all our attendees to make sure you have someone accompanying you to the car. The area is generally safe (we've had one incident in roughly a year of this), but better safe than sorry. If you see someone leaving alone, let them know. Looking forward to seeing you there and getting our game on! Photos from past sessions (We used to do it at a different cafe.) # FAQ |Question|Answer| |:-|:-| |Is this beginner friendly?|Totally! Every game gets explained to the group before starting. A few new players come for every session and have a great time!| |What games will we be playing?|The board game cafe has a huge library to choose from; check out their FB page for photos. The cafe staff have been quite good at recommending fun games as well.| |Can I BYO?|The venue has asked that we don't bring our own food and drink.| |How do we get in touch on the night?|PM me your number if you'd like to be added to the WhatsApp group.| |Is there dinner beforehand?|We're leaving it to the group to self-organise on this as it's hard to coordinate the whole group plus a big booking etc.| |How many people attend?|We generally have 6-10 people per session. Attendance varies widely and it's hard to predict!| |When do events happen?|Once every week, though we alternate between Bored and Adventurer's Hall.

Culture I made a short horror game inspired by Malaysia's Volkswagen Kuning urban legend
Hi everyone!
I'm a solo indie developer from Malaysia, and I recently released a free horror game called Highway: Yellow.
It's inspired by the Volkswagen Kuning legend, where a mysterious yellow Beetle repeatedly appears along the highway.
I wanted to recreate that experience through driving rather than traditional ghost encounters.
The game takes around 10 minutes to finish.
If anyone wants to try it:

Thanks for checking it out!

We are currently the most polluted city in the world right now, and we are still supposed to come to work in these conditions?
This is a literal war crime.

Culture Does any Chinese people don't feel like they belong in the Chinese community?
I'm Chinese right but I don't really feel like I belong to Chinese like I was born in the wrong ethnicity. I started to have this thought in mid high school, like I don't really feel like I belong in the Chinese community, yes I speak Chinese fluently but I just don't really think I was meant for it. I often feel like I belong in the western community and just feel like a disconnection to my roots. I often express that I don't want to be Chinese. And also I often feel like I was discriminating against Chinese people, I feel terrible but just like I want to meet other people, surrounded by other people other than Chinese people. Also I often called banana at school because of how outstanding my English and how dog shit my Chinese is. And also with people too, I don't feel connected with a lot of Chinese people, I was thinking mainly because I consume western media aka TikTok while Chinese people just stay in their bubble of Chinese stuff so at school their memes and the memes I consume are not close and I really don't have stuff to talk about. At school I only talk English to one person and she became my bestie, soon another one, so just two only I can fully talk English with at school because everyone's English are so garbage.
Idk if I make sense or not, I just feel like..I was born wrong, I don't feel connected to the Chinese community.
I was planning to move to New Zealand after I make enough money because again I don't feel like I belong. I know Malaysia has a lot of English speaking people but I low-key want to disconnect myself from my roots and go to somewhere I truly feel like I belong

Environment Confused myna thinks my thumb is food
Acridotheres, burung tiong or myna.
They are insectivores that hunt on grassy fields for grasshoppers, worms and other insects.
They are also territorial and defend their patch from other birds. Usually travelling in pairs.
This one likely thought my thumb was a big worm. But it stopped quickly when I gently pushed it.

Others Three teens injured after flag strikes high-voltage line during Alor Setar procession
ALOR SETAR, Oct 14 — Three teenage boys were injured by an electric shock after a flag they were carrying during a vegetable temple procession in Mergong, near here, tonight allegedly came into contact with a high-voltage power line.
Mergong Vegetable Temple Association Secretary Chah Boon Chuan said the incident, which occurred at about 9pm, resulted in two 17-year-old victims and one 16-year-old being rushed to Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital (HSB) here.
“The incident happened while thousands of procession participants were marching along the main road in the area before one of the flags allegedly hit the power line. The flag was blown by strong winds during light rain before it was suspected of hitting the power line.
“A teenager holding the flag and two others who were nearby were injured due to the electric shock. All three of them are understood to be receiving treatment in the red zone of HSB,” he said when met at the compound of the HSB Emergency and Trauma Department last night.
He said the three teenagers are still receiving treatment and their current condition is not yet known.
“The pole used to carry the flag was made of bamboo, and this is the first time such an incident has occurred,” he said.

Health Double the health threat - M’sians facing toxic mix of PM2.5 and ground-level ozone
Prof Dr Mohd Hasni Jaafar, an environmental health and toxicology specialist at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, said simultaneous exposure to both pollutants could have overlapping effects through oxidative stress, inflammation and impaired respiratory function, potentially increasing the overall acute health burden, including on healthy adults.
