Recently installed Steam OS on my legion Go 1 and its been working well but I wanted the option to limit the battery to stop charging at 80% like I could on windows. Me and Claude (mostly claude tbh) made a decky plugin that adds that feature. Made the plugin for myself but thought some people here would use it.

Can someone let me know, I don't want to destroy my computer by not being able to revert it if it won't work

Hear me out (lol) I know the steam deck would be awesome but what if Valve at the same time of release brought out an 8 inch Oled steam tablet with the latest snap dragon , boot loader fully unlocked and it ran steam OS like the frame with full desktop support ect..

It would be able to run android apk or whatever ever

Alongside a new extendable steam controller and app like droid deck for devices that can't run the os without boot loader unlocked

That would be pretty cool no need to change the form factor of the steam deck 2 allowing it to be pushed to the max but giving people a more small portable option.

Terrible Frame Times for games , 16.7 ms frametime but never 16.6 ms ,

Most games are stuttering terrible you can feel it ..

My device has gone from amazing to absolutely shite after update

Even My Home Screen feels stuttery, especially on low power while it was flawless before.

VRR doesn't seem to be working in some games screen just jerks sometimes.

Updated to 3.9.2 beta something after a lot of research and it's just getting worse by each update I have never experienced any issues ever but after this 3.8.28 update suddenly it feels like something in background is stuck.

What I have tried till date since sept 25 2026

1. Updated to 3.8.28 stable issue start 25 sept 2026

2. Factory reset at 3.8.28

3. Changed UMA buffer never even touched it since buying device new in May 2026 changed UMA buffer to 8gb from Auto.

4. Nothing worked to fix the problems still inconsistent frame time tested games no fix.

5. Went back to 3.8.28 stable factory reset after update.

6. No fix issues still persist terrible microstutter making games feel stuttery

7. Went back to 3.9.2 beta and have updated everyday everything available hoping something magical to take it back to previous days.

8. most recent update I think something released on 11th October on beta channel.

9. As of today 13th October my device has fallen to a new low with stuttering on. Home Menu on Low Power as well as balanced mode.

How did things go from masterclass to such a huge pile of shut!

I am truly troubled as if I made the biggest most of my life updating in 25 Sept 2026. I have no clue what to do anymore and dying inside day by day.

Hi guys, today I got my ROG Ally X, I'm using windows and I have a lot of problem, I don't like the xbox app, the most part that frustrating me is I just sleep my ROG Ally X from FSE, there is only steam and Armory Crate in the background and the fan is going crazy while it sleep, and it turn me off that I need to shut down after use and turn on after use, I see a lot of good things for ME about Steam OS, so I wanna make a switch.

But before that, can you guys share your plugin list that you guys use on steamos that work very great on ROG ally X and it's function, thank you very much

So, I recently got steam machine without controller, and I’m a newbie on SteamOS too. Is there anyone had issues on connecting PS5 controller and Headpone through bluetooth?

I used desktop mode>bluetooth>pairing but devices not found. Devices used only when connected through usb but i prefer wireless

When connecting my phones or ipad to my computer with steamOS installed, it often struggles to connect, requiring me to turn off and on Bluetooth many times on both ends. When it finally connects, it sometimes either disconnect immediately or stays connected for a while. After disconnecting, it will become completely impossible for it to connect for more than a few seconds, requiring me to forget the device and restart the process of connecting it again

Funnily enough controllers generally work just fine though once in a while I do come across some issues requiring me to forget the device to reconnect it, but I generally prefer to use wired anyways

I recently installed SteamOS on my Claw 8AI+ and downloaded PoE2 via Heroic Launcher (since I bought the game on the Epic Games Store). I added the game to Steam and it runs fine in SteamOS's Gaming Mode; however, I tried installing Mako and Lossless Scaling and pasting the code into the Launch Options, but it doesn't seem to be working. Does anyone know how to get Mako FG working when the game is installed via Heroic Launcher? If so, please let me know—a video tutorial would be even better. Thanks for reading!

I have a custom built with 7800x3D with 9070xt and i notice that the bluetooth range is so bad is there any recommendation? Should i buy a bluetooth usb dongle?

Running steam os on my all amd laptop. So far experience has been great; however trying to navigate setting up mod organizer 2 properly has been an absolute nightmare. If anyone would be willing to walk me through it via screen share on discord I would forever be in your debt!

So after updating to Steam beta I seem to notice the checkmark for using or not using Proton is gone and now it's just defaulting to use Proton all the time. Is there a way to make it so the option to not use Proton always comes back? I can't run any of the non-Steam Linux apps this way

I've heard mixed things about the driver support being bad and or unstable. I've been wanting to try it out on my desktop ever since switching my ROG ally over to steam os but I have a 9th gen i7 and a 4060 so I would rather not if the support is just going to give me more headaches.

Couldn’t get my hands on a steam machine so had to improvise

I recently sold my fully fledged desktop PC and bought a MSI Claw. It ships with windows 11, but well… Windows is absolutely awful on handheld devices, even with the addition of Xbox FSE or Steam Big Picture.

I read online somewhere that SteamOS version 3.7 beta added support for it to a varying degree, being an intel based device. The version I installed was the latest public build, which it says is 3.8.28. I took a chance personally and came to a realization.

1) You have to use a USB 3 Gen1/Gen2 to flash it to the Claw. Anything less and it will not load the portable installer, and when it does it does not recognize touch input.
2) There is no native driver to use the thumb stick + A button to function as a cursor. So in desktop mode only touch is recognized, which is a bummer.
3) Gamepad controller vibration does not function currently. I played Aero for 15 mins with headphones on and realized the rumble of the music in my hands was nonexistent. Also played Arboria for 20 minutes and there was no vibration on attacks or item pickups.

Probably coming to a future release, but I know Valve is having to bring support to multiple mainstream devices that release annually as it is and Intel based GPUs (like the Arc 140v Battlemage) aren’t wholly supported by Linux as a whole, being as the main Steam Deck image site doesn’t list this device with official support yet.

Wanted to throw out a PSA for it. Not a whole lot of info online for this thing but I bought one open box and intend to enjoy it because I’m unable to return it. :)

Installed steamos last week and lost functionality to my back buttons. Anyone know how to enable them again?

I've followed the instructions to install Steam OS onto a PC, but all it does is run from the usb pen drive rather than install onto the SSD.

Any ideas appreciated because I'm stumped.
