I moved from Thane to Andheri a few months back, Vasant Oasis Marol to be precise so I can be closer to my office and save a few hours and city flo travel cost.
The auto for 1.3 Kms within Andheri East costs me average Rs. 100-110 one way because at no point in time, Monday to Sunday 8AM to 12 midnight does an auto agree to go by the meter.
Mumbaikars used to be so proud about the fact that you don't need to haggle with autos here and that they run on meters.
What happened to that?

Garba season in Mumbai hits different when you're sitting at home š«
I keep scrolling through Insta stories of people with their huge friend groups and classmates posting with their boyfriends all in matching outfits and I'm just here in my room with barely 2 friends feeling so lonely
I miss being a kid when I could walk up to any random group and join in and nobody would judge me when did that stop being possible
Now it feels so fucking scary to even ask someone if I can join and even if they say yes I'm scared I'll get the steps wrong and get kicked out
And what is this pass thing why do I have to pay 500-1000 rupees just to dance at a place 2 hours away can't I just dance for free
I don't know yaar it just feels so weird
Am I the only one who feels like this?

I am done with this hypergamy shit. I don't deserve love it seems just because I live in a particular place.
I am 27 and my age it's date to marry and settle down.
So if I do meet someone from Vasai the conversation goes nowhere as they are looking for someone from Mumbai to marry and settle down.
If I meet someone from Mumbai they initially like the vibe and conversation but as soon as they get to know I am from Vasai Virar they leave, unmatch, ignore.
This is the 5th time it's happening.
I give up on finding anything.
Now my goal is to grind, lock in and hustle to earn more so I can move out of this shitty place to Mumbai and find love.
Or maybe I should just give up and force myself to stay single forever.
Thanks for listening to my rant.

First came here back in 2019 for a two-month summer internship. Stayed in Wadala while commuting all the way to Andheri every day. Navigating local trains and insane road traffic should have scared me away, but somewhere I fell head over heels for this place.
Fast forward to 2022: Being in tech, landing a solid gig in Mumbai instead of Bangalore or Hyderabad wasn't the easiest choice or path, but I manifested it hard purely because I wanted to live here. And it actually happened.
Now, after getting hit by layoffs, I'm heading to Bangalore next week. I have about seven days left here, and honestly I canāt feel anything but sad. My heart is heavy and I feel there is a sinking hole in my gut!!
I know Mumbai has a thousand glaring flaws, the rents, the infrastructure struggles, the constant grind. People joke that fewer outsiders are a blessing for the crowd, but standing on the edge of leaving, all I can feel is heavy.
Iām genuinely going to miss it all. Late night sits at Marine Drive, driving through the Sea Link with the windows down, the amazing food across Bandra West, Walking around BKC when it looks like a completely different country (my office was in BKC), the beautiful Mumbai monsoon⦠everything.. But above all, the people. In all these years, not once did anyone make me feel like an outsider. Thereās an unsaid and instant warmth here in the people that you just don't get anywhere else.
Goodbye, Mumbai. Youāve been home in the truest sense. Really hoping life finds a way to bring me back soon.

Saw the reports about Ujwal Nikam meeting the RSS chief and it reminded me that Prahaar is also coming up
Whatever people make of the meeting, the 26/11 case is such a significant part of Nikam's career. We all remember the attacks and Kasab being caught but I feel the actual legal proceedings that went on for years aren't discussed nearly as much
Would be interesting to see how much of that side the movie explores. There's genuinely a lot of material there beyond the usual courtroom drama

Every time I travel somewhere outside Mumbai, whether itās another state in India or another country, I come back feeling this strange sadness.
Being away reminds me of how beautiful life can feel when youāre surrounded by nature, greenery, open skies, clean air and places that actually have a sense of aesthetic to them.
And then I come back to Mumbai and the reality hits. Back to the daily commute, the same concrete buildings everywhere, the pollution, the constant rush, and the feeling that life is just going to be an endless cycle of waking up, going to work, coming home, sleeping and repeating it all over again.
The sky is one thing I notice the most. Iāve travelled to most states in India and Iāve always noticed how different the sky looks outside Mumbai. You can actually see the blue. The air feels lighter, the surroundings feel more open and somehow even doing absolutely nothing feels good⦠The moment I enter Mumbai, itās like this huge grey blanket covers everything. Sometimes you can barely see the sky properly and in certain areas, you literally have to cover your mouth because of the pollution!! š·
When did human life become sooo disconnected from nature? When did living become just about earning money, paying bills, commuting for hours and waiting for the next vacation to feel alive again?
Iāve reached a point where I genuinely want to earn enough money to be able to travel every two months without having to overthink the financial implications. To be able to leave whenever I feel like I need a break, experience different places, and not feel guilty about spending money on something that makes me feel alive. But then I realise how difficult that is and how this is probably what so many of us are chasing anyway!
I know Mumbai has its own charm. The people, the food, the opportunities, the energy. And I understand why people love this city. But sometimes I feel like weāve normalised living in an environment that is genuinely exhausting, both physically and mentally
Does anyone else feel this way, or am I just going through post-vacation blues? How do you cope with this??
Sometimes I genuinely wonder if this is the life weāre all supposed to be working so hard forā¦

I want to discuss the recent fire at Imperial Heritage (Imperial Heights), Nalasopara East, where two women tragically lost their lives.
Residents have reportedly alleged that the buildingās fire safety system was not operational. The exact cause and any negligence still need to be established through an investigation.
But this incident raises serious questions for the Vasai-Virar Municipal Corporation (VVMC):
- If high-rise buildings are being approved, are their fire safety systems actually inspected and kept operational?
- Do our fire brigade teams have adequate equipment to rescue people from the upper floors?
- Why arenāt modern rescue systems, including suitable hydraulic platforms and drone-assisted operations, being strengthened?
- Who is accountable for checking fire safety before residents are allowed to live in these buildings?
The fire brigade station is reportedly just about a minuteās drive away on the same road. That makes it even more important to understand what difficulties occurred during the rescueānot to blame anyone without evidence, but to demand answers.
A city cannot keep building higher without making its emergency response stronger.
What should VVMC prioritise to prevent such tragedies in Vasai-Virar? And how can residents demand transparent fire-safety inspections?

I am a non mumbai girl shifted to mumbai last month because I got a job here. I take the ladies compartment on the Mumbai local. one day I got into an argument with a girl. she was accusing me of not staying still and that I am constantly pushing her (you all would be knowing how crowded it is inside). after few minutes she started swearing at me. I couldn't even belive what all she was calling me. I was in shock. I wasn't expecting such a behaviour from a girl who looks almost my age. Luckily her stop came and she got down.
Few days later again we met in the same compartment. She stood next to me (I think on purpose) and pushed me. I asked her what are you doing and she said this is what you were doing few days back. I politely told her that I am not in the mood for arguments and please stop. nothing else was said and I thought it's done. but after few minutes she started again. I got really mad and I pushed her back. She started swearing (this time I did too) and this time we both were pushing each other with both our hands. Other ladies intervened and separated us.
Has anyone else had such an incident and how to deal with it ?

We all have a dream to buy our own house one day. However, the prices of real estate in Mumbai are almost 2x-3x of what they should be. Most of us get discouraged and give up on this dream. But there are some who won't. They are ready to pay more than 50% of their salaries in EMI. I wonder what happens in such cases when high EMIs vis-a-vis salary makes you sacrifice small luxuries and pleasures in life. For example, going by bus in this heat and humidity instead of Uber. Not going out on weekends. Postponing vacations indefinitely.

So I went on AMK trek last weekend and there was a 3-4 trekking agencies groups so around 40-60 people.
But chunk of people of one particular group were bathing on the edge of the water tanks.
If anyone has been on madan gad they know that there are only 2 water tanks on this forts and no other sources of water and night stay is also done at this fort.
I was sitting at top of the fort watching sunset peacefully, but later on when saw the other side I saw these visuals my blood boiled (ą¤ ą¤¶ą„ ą¤¤ą„ą¤µą„र ą¤øą¤£ą¤ ą¤ą„ą¤²ą„ ą¤”ą„ą¤ą„यात) but as I was solo on this trek and also an introvert I could not gather courage to speak up but I saw some people talking to them maybe it was their trek leader and local people. So I thought maybe they will stop and no one will now do that there.
But to my suprise another group of people went there and started bathing and this time no one went there to stop them.
I thought that's enough if no one speaks up now all the people will go to take a bath there. So I dithched the sunset and went down to stop this. I raised my voice and told them that these is only source of water on the fort and one side is used for drinking think of the trekkers coming here in winters and summers who crave even a drop of water. Their argument was that they saw there was kachra in it we asked other people and gave some bullshit reasons.
The trek leader came to me and I asked him who is responsible for this why aren't you telling your people to follow some etiquettes of the place. To my suprise he said they are taking water from tanks and showering further. I showed him this video and he just looked at me and kept smiling like a fool saying that what can we do we told them they don't listen.
I mean they listened when I told them these leaders don't care about the environment in the first place I swear I felt like slapping him hard for taking the people's side and staring at me like an idiot.
To all the people gping on such monsoon treks - kindly maintain the water on the water tanks this is not a picnic spot for you to enjoy and not all people depend on water bottle sellers because they don't sell anything in off season when other trekkers go.
Don't put your feet inside the water and think like it is a pedicure session. Hands is fine is you want to freshen up take water in bottle and do it far from the tank such that water will not seep into the tanks.
Please if you can't even think for others don't do such treks.
I think there should be a hard fine or something taken by these agencies for destroying the nature on treks because no one goes to clean it there and the people who think it as a picnic hardly care about the environment. They think that they have given guidelines for ciggerate and drinks their work is done but there is more to it not only this.
Let me know if I should name and shame the trek agency in comments.

I have a job offer in Dubai, so I need my passport changed from ECR to non-ECR. HR wants this done before they apply for my visa.
What happened at the Malad (East) PSK today:
The spelling problem (middle name, two letters swapped):
So I canāt use my educational certificates as the ECR proof without a mismatch. The officer said Iād need a gazette and a newspaper notice (XXXXaeX to XXXXeaX), and that a gazette or name-change case canāt go through Tatkaal.
My questions:
Any advice is appreciated, as my start date is getting pushed.

Number one mistake I made was deciding to go to mumbai for salary less than 40k. Trust me you wont be able to live there for so low salary. Many people told me that in the beginning of our career, you should not care about salary that much should focus on learning. That is why I went, but I shouldnāt have gone. My salary was like 26k. Funnily enough salary was actually 13 company it by 4 and we could not do anything about it because we were graduate
Number 2 is donāt come to Mumbai. You donāt want to commute three hours every day in then it is just a hassle. So mostly it come down to where is your office location if it is in very costly areas like Ghatkopar, then it is better to not take that job opportunity, but if it is in very cheap areas where Rent is less like Virar, then it is better to take the job opportunity
My wife, a flight attendant of 10 years have put down her papers and is currently looking for a job.
If anybody can help find us find a good job that'd be really great.
Her notice period ends on 3rd november.

Hi everyone!
Iām an aspiring actor based in Mumbai, and Iād love to connect with young, independent filmmakers, directors, or student filmmakers who are currently working on short films or other creative projects and might be looking for actors.
Iād be more than happy to collaborate on a project and explore opportunities to act, learn, and gain experience. If youāre working on something or know someone who might be looking for an actor, please feel free to reach out!
I also wanted to ask: Is it possible to get auditions directly, or do you generally need a manager or casting agent to access acting opportunities? Iād love to hear about your experiences and any advice you might have for someone starting out.
Looking forward to connecting with fellow creatives.
Thank you! š
