News Admitted to Manipal Hospital (Old Airport Rd) for leg surgery: Broken bed for 70 hrs, 1-hr wait during chest pain, and when bill jumped to ₹2.33L, they scribbled "15k discount and close" on paper.
I recently got admitted in Manipal Hospital Old HAL airport road for an elected leg implant removal surgery. I was given a broken bed. How fair is it to give an Orthopedic patient a broken bed when opted for a planned surgery?
I had to explain what I am going through in severe pain to minimum 20 staffs and still the issue wasn’t resolved. They kept transferring the issue to next person and I had to explain it to each and everybody there. I explained to everyone in tears yet nothing solved. They instead quietly came to get my sign on the bill paper that estimated is ₹1.7L but the bill will go upto ₹2.5L with zero facilities.
And when I refused to sign that consent form they replaced the broken bed after 70 HOURS of complaining.
On the morning of 25 Sept, I suffered acute chest pain and hypotension my BP dropping below 80. It took OVER 1 HOUR for any doctor to arrive. An ECG was done, but no doctor followed up to explain it.
My mother had to run around the hospital to find the duty doctor, because they were not there whole night.
After all this the junior doctor from the team came to dress my wound with a nurse and when I was crying in pain she screamed at me to stop it and was very rough in handling me.
But after everything I faced the bill kept inflating to around ₹2.33Lakhs with zero facility. They forced me to pay 2.08 lakhs other they said I will not get discharged from hospital. This is just the way of showing hooliganism on a bed ridden patient to extract money.
Is this the standard of healthcare in Bengaluru’s top private hospitals? Has anyone successfully gotten a refund from their management after escalation?
