Posting a question? BE SPECIFIC!

Dallas/Ft. Worth is a HUGE place! There are literally thousands of restaurants, bars, entertainment venues, shops, and museums. There are 30+ neighborhoods and suburbs in Dallas alone, each offering different draws for different people. There are over 700 Dallasites on this sub ready to give you advice on where to go and what to do, but we can't do that without some level of input. So be specific! Give us the details! If you go to a shoe store and tell the clerk, "I need shoes," that isn't going to get you anywhere. What size? Color? Material? Occasion? That's the kind of info that will get you some answers.

DON'T ASK: Where should I live?

DO ASK: I am 25 years old with no kids and a cat. I want to live somewhere quiet with parks close by and easy access to a major highway. My budget is $1000 mo. for rent and utilities. Having to drive to entertainment is fine, I love using gas. I like white walls/carpet and vertical blinds. Where should I live?

DON'T ASK: What bar should I go to?

DO ASK: I like reggae and expensive cocktails. I don't mind going to a seedier part of town, but would like there to be on-site parking. Good bar food is a plus. Where should I go?

You cannot possibly give too much information. Pile it on!

Edit: A few great suggestions from the comments:

DO: Tell us where you're coming from!

DO: Tell us where in the metroplex you're searching for something!

Tourism Things to do in downtown Dallas

Hello everyone! I’ll be visiting Dallas for the first time next week and will have one day to explore. Since I don’t know anyone in the area, I would love your recommendations for places to visit, restaurants or cafés to try and activities to enjoy on my own around downtown. Any suggestions to help me make the most of my day would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Best locations for street photography of people?

I’m looking for a few locations for a class assignment where I need to photograph people in action. It can range anything from doing sports, exercising, working, etc, as long as it’s an area with a variety of people doing different things.

I would prefer to avoid downtown areas however I understand there are likely great locations there.

Relocating & housing Mixed family relocating for work. Would love honest feedback about Plano, Coppell, and Allen.

Hello! My family is relocating from Central Florida to DFW for work. I had the opportunity to visit for a weekend and have narrowed our search down to Plano, Coppell, and Allen.

I’m second-generation Cuban American, my husband is Black, and our elementary-aged son is a beautiful mix of both. We lean more liberal and are fully aware of the political climate in Texas. We’re relocating for work, so I’m hoping for insight into the cities/communities themselves rather than advice to avoid Texas altogether. 😂

I’ve been researching schools and neighborhoods, but demographics and ratings only tell me so much. I’d love to hear from people who actually live here, especially other interracial couples and multiracial families. Do you feel comfortable and welcomed? Have you been able to make friends and find your people?

For parents, what has your kids’ experience been like at school? Have they experienced racist comments or exclusion? If something happened, did the staff take it seriously and handle it well? I’d love to hear positive experiences too. I’m looking for an honest picture, whatever that looks like.

Are there particular neighborhoods or elementary schools you’d recommend? How do Plano, Coppell, and Allen compare in your experience? **Are there other areas we should consider** with strong schools and a welcoming, family-friendly community?

We’re excited about the move and want somewhere we can put down roots, build friendships, and raise our son feeling comfortable and proud of who he is. Thanks for anything you’re willing to share. 🤗

Feel free to DM me if you’d rather not post publicly!

Relocating & housing Apartment recommendations in Dallas? $1,300 budget — looking for a safe, updated community

I’m currently apartment hunting and would love some recommendations from people who actually live in the Dallas area or have experience with different apartment communities.

My budget is $1,300 maximum for base rent for a one-bedroom apartment. Ideally, I’d like something around $1,150–$1,250, but I’m willing to go up to $1,300 for the right place.

I’m looking for an apartment that has a newer or updated interior, preferably with modern finishes.

My preferences:

  • Budget: $1,300 maximum base rent
  • Bedrooms: 1 bed/1 bath (not interested in studios)
  • Size: Preferably 650+ sq. ft.
  • Location: Bluffview, Love Field, Medical District, Oak Lawn, Design District, Inwood Village, or surrounding neighborhoods
  • Safety: This is a big priority for me, especially secure parking and minimal issues with car break-ins.
  • Amenities: In-unit washer/dryer preferred.
  • Move-in: ASAP, ideally within the next week.

I’d love to hear about management responsiveness, maintenance, pest issues, parking security, and whether you genuinely enjoyed living there.

I’m not expecting perfection or a high-rise luxury apartment for $1,300. I just want a nice, updated, safe-feeling place that fits my budget.

Relocating & housing Apartment Finder Companies for Fort Worth

Good morning y'all,

I finally found a job that will pay the bills after looking up here post grad school graduation for almost 100 days.

I accepted a position out of SW Fort Worth and I'm looking for places near the North half of Ft. Worth that I can afford and are also quiet/safe.

My budget is up to but hopefully less than $1,200/month.

Do yall have any companies that you can recommend that will help me find a place by the end of October?

If you personally have any recommendations id be happy to hear them too.

Hoping to find something closeish to the Riverside area or surrounding suburbs, only because that puts me less than 30 minutes from the friends i know in the central dfw area and less than 30 minutes from work.

Relocating & housing Apartment Recommendations

Hey everyone, I have narrowed down my list from 33 places to 12 places that I want to actually tour and pick from based on location, commute, and quality. I am looking for advice from anyone who knows about these apartments, has lived there, or the management.

- The Franklin at Samuels Ave (Fort Worth, TX)
- Harlowe (Euless,TX)
- Adeline at Centreport (Fort Worth, TX)
- Mosaic Dallas (Dallas, TX)
- Factory Design District (Dallas, TX)
- LTD West Commerce (Dallas, TX)
- 2201 E Arbrook Blvd (Arlington, TX)
- Ironcrest Apartments (North Richland Hills, TX)
- Ascent at Mountain Creek (Dallas, TX)
- Birchstone Cedar Ridge (Dallas, TX)
- Aven at the Cove (Grand Prairie, TX)
- Alpine Creekside (Haltom City, TX)

If you have lived here, worked with these places as a locator, or have known someone who lived there please provide all positive and negative feedback! I am hesitant about the Greystar owned ones since that company has a ton of horror stories, but each one is different!

Shopping & Services Floor installation

Who do you recommend for floor installation in DFW? It would involves removing mostly carpet and one small section of tile, and installing vinyl flooring and vinyl tile. Ideally someone affordable who also handles moving the furniture out of the way. Thanks!

Health & Hygiene Septoplasty after rhinoplasty: Plastic Surgeon recs?

Looking for a plastic surgeon that specializes in noses, particularly if they have good experience with secondary nose jobs? Bit of an interesting case, as it’s not a REVISION….just decided to finally do the septoplasty after more nose deviation and some slight breathing issues.

Septoplasty wasn’t “necessary” first go-around, so didn’t do it. Now, later in life, ready to pull the plunge.

Want to look like MYSELF, just with the septum straightened and, hopefully, with some easier breathing.

Thanks in advance!!’

Relocating & housing Urgent Move Out: Apartment Recommendations within 30 minutes of UTD (up to $3500/mo)

Long story short, my partner and I must move out of the place we're in due to some construction emergency the landlord is going to run, and we have decided to leave rather than stay during the construction.

Move out date is within a week or two, and we both work at UTD. We want to also stay kinda close to the city instead of going too far north.

Do you have good apartment recommendations that can handle lease in a short amount of time?

Apartment Criteria

We do care about space, so 2 or 3 bedrooms, and at least 1600 sq ft (the bigger the better).

We don't care much about amenities (pool, grill, etc.), but having a terrace/porch would be appreciated!

We also drive and prefer places with parking or garages. The neighborhood matters, of course, but at this point she and I have realized Dallas is not like the other cities we've lived in, so as long as the apartment complex is not an eye sore and there are some shops and stuff around, we're fine.

Bonus point if there are sidewalks with shops to walk on in the evenings as the weather gets cooler!

Relocating & housing Apartment Recs for downtown Dallas?? Wilson vs Manor House vs…

Hi y’all! I’m trying to figure out where to sign a long-term lease for within walking distance of the discovery district. ALL of the reviews for semi-affordable places downtown make them seem like awful non-options. Price range I’m hoping for is under 1.5k for 1bed1bath, so I know (and am fine with) my options will be kind of jank. I don’t need the most space, I just care that it’s clean/no bugs. I’ve looked into the Wilson and Manor House, and they are both around the price range, but some of the reviews are atrocious… would love some help from the Reddit family before signing!! thanks u guys :,)

Tourism Visiting Dallas

Hi, I’m visiting Dallas flying into DFW from NY to visit my gf. What place do you guys recommend to stay at as a poor college grad (hopefully looking for a budget place)?

Potentially staying from the 23rd to 26th.

Also any recommendations for visiting the Fort Worth Zoo? She’s a big fan of hyenas.

She’s not from Dallas and it’s meant to be a bit of surprise. Any other fun things to do for a 3 night stay?

Thanks for all the comments and support.
