I'm looking for a bar that's safe to go to alone for some me time. For context, I'm 38, F, and I live in the beltline and Shiloh area. I'm hoping for a chill atmosphere where I can sit and have a cocktail alone and mind my own business in peace. The place doesn't have to be fancy, in fact, I prefer a place that's more laid-back. I came home to visit my parents and things weren’t good. My mom needed to go to the hospital and is currently in the ED and will be admitted later today.

My dad had been taking care of her by himself and her hair has become so matted it will most likely need to be cut short.

Are there any hair stylists that would cut her hair in the hospital? I’m thinking she might be there for a while.

Im familiar with the Buckingham/Jupiter area, and 78/Bush, mainly the parking lot of the Hobby Lobby there.

Moving to a lovely home in the Oaks neighborhood of South Garland after years of downtown Dallas fatigue and apartment living. We’re in our thirties, child free, and excited for a more laid back lifestyle.

I’m trying to get a sense for the general area because it’s kind of an odd little pocket in the middle of like 3 different suburbs. I’ve poked around on Nextdoor and people seem happy enough. We love the proximity to the lake and the greenery.

But looking for general insights, recommendations, advice…whatever I might want to know or find useful. Looking forward to being a part of the community!

I take the DART to work in downtown Dallas but I’m thinking about moving into downtown garland because it seems like it’s becoming more vibrant with businesses and coffee shops. I’m considering moving into either Oaks 5th St at City Center, Oaks 5th Station, or City Square Lofts.

I’d love to hear your thoughts whether or you live in one of these apartments or downtown garland in general! Thank you in advance

Not even promotional but BopJoa is a korean fusion place close to firewheel that my family and I have been going to for years. I’ve moved away since but came back to visit this weekend and after a shitty day I had some delicious sondoobu that genuinely healed me. The spices were so flavorful without being overbearing and the pairing with the kimchi felt so complete. I truly couldn’t get enough of it and I felt amazing afterwards. Owners are super sweet too. I truly hope this place gets the recognition it deserves

I need to move soon and I’m considering Garland. There is a townhome off of Apollo and Roundtree rd. Any insights on the area in general? Noise level, safety?

I am currently working at Chase. I don’t have any licenses yet. I am a notary and I would like to know if there are any banks that are hiring right now as I’ve had horrible luck with applying online. I have a great track record in Sales customer facing non-customer facing and of course customer service and I am an employee that loves to get overtime. They’ve added them all over Garland now. Garland Ave and George Bush, Shiloh and Beltline, Buckingham and Garland Ave, saw some others too but don’t remember the intersections. Please share if you know of more. There was literally a recent federal ruling calling these mass surveillance. There has been many recent cases of these cameras being used illegally by police departments and innocent people being arrested or held at gunpoint due to mistakes by these cameras. We need to be making complaints to city officials. I don’t think anyone who knows what these are and the dangers of them wants these in Garland.

The shelter is full of medium and large sized dogs and some have been there for nearly a year. We have an amazing shelter with wonderful staff, but our community is struggling to keep up with the need.

Just what I said. My father recently passed and my mom’s dementia is getting worse. So I’m taking over all of this. Going through the immediate financials, I realized they are paying an insane amount for a landline, internet, and basic cable. We are getting rid of the cable and need to figure out the landline and internet. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
