The AdviceFlairBot is back!

Thanks to a kind developer, we now have a new bot to replace the broken one.

As a reminder: OP should use the word "helped!" in their response to someone who has given them quality advice. This awards the advisor one point to recognize their assistance.

Update: The trigger word has changed to "Helped!". The exclamation point was added to reduce false positives.

New: Gratitude phrases have been added so the bot will respond to words like "Thank you", "That helped" , "Appreciate it" and many more.

Help with spam, use the report button.

If you received this as a reply you've responded to a likely spam bot or karma farming post and probably didn't offer advice.

Participation in bot-generated content can lead to your account being flagged as a sockpuppet account used for astroturfing (suspicion of coordinated manipulation) and result in a permanent ban which may extend across Reddit.

Thanks to everyone making this 3M+ community one of the best on Reddit!

With the increase in AI slop, sold accounts and trolls we need your help to maintain the quality as much as possible.

When you see a post that is obviously spam, asking for money, inappropriate or generally is provocative

- report it

- down vote it

- don't comment on it! Seriously. Stop. If you aren't giving advice you're breaking the subreddit rules.

Commenting on a post gives the algorithms feedback and makes the post appear in more feeds leading to more comments.

If you're literally writing "spam" "fake" etc you should be reporting it instead because it's also against the rules to disbelieve the OP. If you don't believe it's real, report it.

If a comment is inappropriate

- report it

- down vote

Yet if you report a lot of posts only because you disagree with it (and it's otherwise allowed) we will end up removing your reporting privileges (there's a mute button for over reporting that let's you continue participating but ignores future reporting).

Lastly this is not a comedy or debate club.

Jokes aren't advice and can quickly lead to bans. Especially if the poster is underage, the topic is sensitive etc.

If you don't agree with a comment a quick comment framing a point a commentor may have missed is acceptable. However you will get banned if you're going back and forth with a troll multiple times. Often it's the last comment being reported and to wade through who was the main instigator takes a lot longer than you simply reporting the problem comment.

If you're disagreeing with a comment, yet have no advice yourself then you are not helping. If you disagree with a comment the best thing you can do is respond directly to the OP with your own opinion.

Thanks for your help!

Advice Received My fiance frequently "messes up" but it's not cute and funny anymore

I suggested couples counseling but I worry this is just something I have to learn to accept, or accept it could be a deal breaker. Below is how our day went today. But it's like this all the time, with so many tasks. I thought it was cute and funny at first. Oh, he's so frazzled, he just needs a little help! But now it's gotten to the point where I feel like it's affecting trust. I feel like I cannot trust him or comfortably offload tasks to him. I think that's a crucial disconnect in a relationship and I'm stressed...

Today, we're getting home from work where we got $400 from coworkers for a wedding gift (important for next paragraph). I had our lunches with me in a plastic bag. He offers to carry it, so I hand it to him. He doesn't grab it by the loops or in a secure way - he just grabs the part closest to him which is a single strap of the plastic bag. I know if I let go, it'll fall, and he has cloth seats so I really don't wanna clean that up. I hold on and ask him to grab both straps. He does so. This happens EVERY TIME he grabs a plastic bag. It's become routine. I can't stand it. I go to ask him why and he interrupted me and said "I know I know I grabbed it wrong I realized." No... You didn't realize... I had to tell you to grab it right.

I tell myself, it's small. It's just a bag. Move on. He gets out of the car. He starts mumbling to himself. I close my door but it doesn't close all the way. I realize it's locked. I say hey, unlock the door, I didn't close it hard enough. He says one second. He's saying things I can't hear. I say what?. No response. I slam my door with my hip and say "it's all good I closed the door". He says "I locked the keys in the car what do I do?". Like c'mon... You seriously couldn't have told me that when I had the door partially open!?!? He had to pay $375 for a locksmith. There goes the wedding money from coworkers.

We finally get inside. But our dog is out of his crate and has eaten the half eaten breakfast my fiance left out on the table. For context, he does the AM dog chores and I do the PM ones. I don't blame my fiance for leaving the crate door open, we have started taking our dog to day care in the AM so he may have just fallen out of the routine. But the food on the table and the combination of it all was frustrating.

I walk the dog to decompress. I come back, feed him (and us) dinner, and the dog starts having some acid reflux. I ask my fiance to give the dog his meds. He opens the container and spills all the pills onto the floor. Then realizes the floor is wet from ice cubes that fell out of the freezer. So the pills are a total loss and we'll have to get a refill. It's only $20 but it's still frustrating. Again compounded with everything else.

We start working on a wedding DIY. He wants to print out our wedding crossword on this nice paper he bought (with his new cricut machine, he's a crafting fan). He prints all 32 copies in one go. But the printer settings were wrong, so they're all misaligned and blurry. Well he ruined so much paper that he doesn't have enough left to re do it, and has to get regular cardstock from staples. More wasted money.

I just don't know what to do. I've never had someone mess up this much. I never thought it would matter. What do I do?

Advice Received Meeting with HORRIBLE smelling person tomorrow

I’m not going to give specific details on my job because they’re not relevant, but tomorrow I have an appointment with someone who smells absolutely horrible. I am not trying to be mean or judgmental, they seem like a kind person.

But it’s not just like some armpit/sweat/etc. Like something is WRONG and it filled up every room they were in last time they were in our place of business and it lingered too. I had to quickly excuse myself from one room so as to not gag after a couple of minutes. We used multiple cans of cleaning product afterward.

Tomorrow, our meeting will be in a much smaller room than last time. It may take up to two hours. I’m genuinely concerned on what I can do to handle it.

Any ideas on what I can do to mitigate the smell or steel my resolve?

Advice Received My student keeps flirting with me, what should I do?

For context, I'm 18f, he is 16m.

I was hired as a private tutor to teach him Math. He was my first tutoring job, and I didn't want him to be scared of me, so I came off as friendly and approachable, and treated him more of a peer.

He asked for my instagram to ask questions outside of tutoring times, and I agreed. Although he does send me questions that he is unsure of, he often likes my posts and stories, or sometimes messages me about random things in his life.

Recently, whenever I go for his lessons, he would say things like "You're looking cute again today," or some other similar compliment, which I usually try to brush off. His volume of messages about random things, or asking about my day has also been increasing. I've tried being dry or answering with short answers, but that doesn't deter him.

What do I do? His parents hired me, but they are very protective of him, and I need the job and money so I can't complain to them. I'm afraid confronting him may also lead to him asking his parents to fire me.

He also hasn't done anything wrong, or extreme, so I don't want to overreact.

Thank you!

I (29F) had sex with my gay best friend (25M), and I think I’m falling in love with him.

I’ve been driving myself crazy thinking about my gay best friend, and I really need some advice. Please don’t judge me.
I’m 29F, and my gay best friend is 25M. He’s also a bottom. Let’s call him Sam. We’ve been close friends for almost four years. He’s very attractive but also feminine, so I’ve always seen him more like one of my girlfriends.
We’ve always been super close and talked openly about everything, including our sex lives. As far as I know, he’s never been with a woman or topped anyone before.
Over the past year, we became even closer after I broke up with my ex. Sam knows pretty much everything about my life.
A few months ago, we got really drunk and ended up making out in the bathroom. I was shocked, but it felt REALLY good. Since then, whenever we drink together, we end up making out, sometimes even in front of our friends.
Last month, we finally had sex. It was his first time topping someone, and honestly, the chemistry was amazing. We’ve had sex a few more times since then, and now I can’t stop thinking about him.
We’ve talked a little about whether this would change our friendship, and he keeps saying it won’t. But for me, everything feels different now.
I don’t even feel like dating other guys anymore because he’s constantly on my mind. Last weekend, while I was at a music festival, I texted him something flirty about thinking of him inside me. He said he felt the same and that it was the best thing his D ever felt.
The problem is that I’m starting to get emotionally attached. We used to text every day and share everything, but now I get upset when he doesn’t respond. I can’t tell if he’s purposely distancing himself or if I’m just overthinking everything.
I know he doesn’t date very often, and I’m not trying to change his sexuality. I completely respect that he’s gay. I also know his family, and our friendship means so much to me. Losing him would honestly break my heart.
But I’m starting to wonder if I’m actually falling in love with him.
I’m also scared because we haven’t been using protection, and I’ve already had to take Plan B after one of the times we had sex.
I don’t know what to do. Should I tell him how I really feel, take some distance, or just try to go back to being friends?
Has anyone ever experienced something similar with a gay best friend? Is it possible for him to have feelings
for me, or am I setting myself up to get hurt?

Advice Received Nip probs

I have huge (natural) boobs. My nipples are hard 90% of the time - non related to cold, stimulation, etc. they are just fully alert all the time for no reason. I usually have on multiple layers - 2 sports bras, a tank, a scrub top, and a light sweatshirt sometimes, and I can STILL see them through the clothes. I’ve resorted to pulling out the padding from a swim suit and sticking that in my bra. It does help, but not completely. I can always tell when eyes go there because I’m an eye contact person.

I’m self conscious about it as well as my boob size in general, so it’s annoying!

I asked my doctor if it could be a sign of something and she basically said no, unfortunately it’s just how your body is.

Any advice or suggestions?? Or just to hear from someone who can relate would be nice.

My bf’s best friend is in love with him

I, (30 F), have been dating my boyfriend, (32 M), since January of this year. We are happy together. We spend so much time together and make some fun memories. We don’t fight but we’ve had a few disagreements that were quickly resolved. Our communication is wonderful… until his best friend started showing red flags. We will call her Lilly who is 31 F (Fake name btw).
Lilly and my boyfriend have been friends for 2 years now. They also work together. At first, I liked her and was completely cool with them being close. She didn’t pose any threat and she is married to her husband of 2 years. Then things started happening that at first, I ignored but more things appeared that just couldn’t be ignored. So let me share these details.
One, she has made very inappropriate remarks about my boyfriend to their co workers. Two, she will kiss (on the cheeks- sorry I thought I added that) him, touch him a lot, and flirt with him, but never does it around me nor her husband. Three, she had to meet me for approval of me. Four, she told their co workers that she wished she was single so she could have a chance with my boyfriend. Five, she is so clingy to him and will freak out, like absolutely freak out, if she doesn’t hear from him for a whole day. Six, she’s gotta go to my boyfriend about her marriage crumbling but can’t go to her husband and work it out with him. Seven, she tells him she loves him after every end of the phone as if they’re dating. Their co workers all think their friendship is weird. Then all believe she is in love with him. There’s a lot more but you can get my point.
I have extensively spoken to my boyfriend many times about how this makes me feel very uncomfortable. So he would just block her when we are together but only talk to her when we aren’t. I have seen their messages and heard their calls. He has zero interest in her (So he claims) and I absolutely trust him. I just do not trust her, at all. He said he will cut her out of his life if I want that and he has done that but part of me feels like he is secretly still talking to her. I asked him to ask her up front if she has feelings but he won’t do it.
So my questions are: Am I setting myself up for a trap with them two? Should he confront her? Or should I confront her? Is this something that is just gonna end badly where I’ll be the one who gets played?

Found nudes

So lately my wife {38} has been acting a bit suspicious when I comes to her phone , I didn’t really think much of it at first till the other day when she went true my phone when she asked to use it to call someone . She went true everything. I saw it cause I saw the reflection in the mirror while she was doing it. I didn’t say anything but it gave me a idea , for the days after I tried to get my wife password of her phone and yesterday I finally got it . So I checked true her phone and found nothing at first , nothing strange with conversations , checked her picture nothing , then I decided to check her deleted images and I found pictures of her pussy spread on the bed wet , at a time that I was at work . From 3 weeks ago , I was lucky to even see them cause they would almost be deleted automatically. I don’t know if she sended it to someone or she used them for herself . But Now I’m like what do it do ? I haven’t took her I found the images . And have been acting just normal . But in my mind I’m thinking what to do now .

3 years left to live! What should I do? 🤔

• Upvotes

So, as the title says, I have about three years left to live before I eventually kick the bucket! I don't have much family that cares about me, nor do I have any friends. So, I'm pretty much alone, as I predicted!

I have three years left in me, so, what do you think I should do? I feel like I can literally do anything! I'm just stuck on a ticking clock. I definitely have to finish writing my stories. Did you know I actually wanted to be a writer when I grew up? Yeah! I had so many cool ideas, I wish I could finish them all with the time I have left. There has to be other things though, right?

Tell me your thoughts!

How to deal with my vegan friend constantly trying to make me feel bad about not being vegan?

• Upvotes

I am a non vegetarian and i have this vegan friend and honestly he is becoming unbearable day by day and i have started to dislike him.

We were close friends though he is older than me. Eventually he started to introduce animal cruelty to me, he started by telling me about how animals are tortured and then sending me videos about it. At first I was empathetic about it and respected it as yes I know animals go through a lot of suffering and exploitation and i would say i love and respect animals and recently i have tried to minimise using animal cruelty products due to his influence.

However recently he has become unbearable. Animal cruelty and veganism IS ALL HE TALKS ABOUT. Even when we're texting he will gravitate the conversation towards veganism and send me videos about animal cruelty and when we're meeting irl he will again talk about it. Its all he talks about and im starting to dislike it.

Even though i can minimise using animal cruelty products, however being non vegetarian is non negotiable for me. I just cant leave non veg food and recently he has started making me feel bad about eating meat. He aksed me in a condescending tone why i havent stopped consuming animal meat if i know the torture they go through. I didn't really have any answer to that since saying "i like the taste of it" is not really am option. ( i would appreciate anyone helping me with a smart answer to this question)

He also told me how he has cut contact with his non vegan friends because according to him they have inferior morals. He told me indirectly that i should stop eating meat and become vegan and i should also start doing something good for animals because i am non vegan ( mind you i am a student and i dont earn yet). I realised all this while he was slowly trying to convert me into being vegan. He said eating meat cannot be a personal choice because it is like saying raping is a personal choice.

I do respect his choie to be a vegan but i have started to dislike him because of this annoying nature of his. I am planning to slowly disconnect with him. I dont really like hanging out with him anymore and i dont want a friend who is always nagging me about veganism. He was a good person and hence i used to like him as a good friend. How do i deal with him?

I hate my sisters husband and I don’t know what to do

Me (22F) and my sister (25F) are very close. She has a history of dating terrible men and settling down with them. Her first husband was a horrible narcissist who cheated on her constantly. She got pregnant while she was in high school with his baby. She’s currently on her second husband and I hate this guy just as much. My sister has two children from her first marriage. He already had a child previous to his marriage with my sister which is a non issue and they have one child together. This is a total of 4 children.

For a while, her husband cleaned pools, but a couple months ago he got fired. My sister had been staying at home to manage the household and the children. She now has a job and still does most of the house work. Obviously things are pretty tight for them. I’m a childless engineer so I’m definitely in a better spot than her so I help out. Her current husband is a loser. He won’t help out with anything and he won’t get a real job. They’ve also had several domestic disputes that has involved the police. Nobody in my family likes him and he’s very hard to be around. He won’t even watch his own children, he just games.

Recently I made plans to go to the zoo with my sister and 3 out of 4 of the kids. I paid for the tickets, nonrefundable, in advance. My sister is now saying her husband should get to come too because he never gets to do anything fun with the kids. I don’t see why he should have fun with the kids on my dime. If he wants to do something with them, he can, but not on my dime. What should I do about this? I’m getting to the point where I’m done with both of them.

EDIT: I just gave her the tickets. I don’t want to argue with her again. This is a constant argument. I’m just going to stop being as involved. She is miserable ever since I moved away. This will probably make her more miserable as I’m some of her only help. Thank you for your advice.

Advice Received i want condom during intercourse but apparently that’s not ok

Me (f) 20 my ex (m) 23 have been on and off for 3 years now. When i was younger we didn’t use condoms. but as we grew up and had went and did our own things i now want to wear condom. it’s not only the fact that we had split and had other’s partners other things contribute. a bit earlier in our sex life he would occasionally nut in me, even when i didn’t want him to because it would make my stomach hurt and just feel uncomfortable. ofc i let him know this and he stopped after a few times. anywho we had recently had intercourse a few times. each time i required a condom. he didn’t like that at all. he’d complain then comply. saying “you don’t really fw me frl” or “what, you think i got something?” “i’ve been known you all this time” as if that is supposed to mean something. he had plenty of partners in his life and claim to have used condoms. so i ask him “if you’re comfortable going out and using condoms with other people you should be able to respect me telling you i’d like to wear a condom if you want to have sex” i don’t see how this is a hard ask especially if he’s the one coming to me for sex. i told him before im not even that interested in sex anymore before we even began talking again which was like a couple months ago. i told him if he’s not ok with a condom then he’d have to be on his way. he claims the condom is uncomfortable all of a sudden or that there’s a smell or that it’s basically like fucking his hand or his toy. he literally wears a condom to fuck his toys all the time ! but when he’s with me apparently he can only go raw. i just don’t understand such a mindset. someone enlighten me. if i’m in the wrong tell me.

EDIT: i forgot to add the part where he constantly tells me he’s going to put a baby in me ! first few times i thought it was silly i thought it was joke and he claimed it was . but he continuously says it even tho i tell him no! part of why i want condom and he knows that aswell.

i feel i should also say that i blocked him on everything the day before making this post. i do not plan on furthering anything with him i dont plan on explaining simple boundaries with him anymore i wont deal with him.

My brother already scattered our dad's ashes and now wants me to help him hide it from our mom

My dad passed away two years ago. My mom wasn't ready to do anything with his ashes, so my older brother kept the urn at his house. We all agreed we'd eventually scatter them at the lake where dad used to take us fishing.

My mom finally decided she's ready and booked a cabin near the lake for next month.

Yesterday my brother admitted he scattered all of dad's ashes at that same lake last spring. He went there alone after having a rough week and said it just felt right at the time.

Here's the part that's bothering me. He wants to put ashes from his fireplace into the urn so mom can still have the ceremony she's been planning. He thinks telling her the truth would hurt her more than letting her believe she's scattering dad's ashes.

I told him that's insane, but he keeps saying mom deserves to have her goodbye and there's no point upsetting her now.

I know telling her could completely destroy their relationship, but I also can't imagine standing there watching her scatter fireplace ashes thinking it's our dad.

What would you do in my position?

My grandma has been paying my cousin to visit her and she begged me not to tell anyone

My grandma is 78 and has been living alone since my grandpa passed away last year. I visit her pretty regularly, but my cousin who used to be really close with her barely comes around anymore.

Last weekend she asked me if $75 was too much to give someone for spending an afternoon with her. I asked what she meant and she eventually told me she's been giving my cousin money every time he visits.

It started with her offering him $30 for gas, but apparently he's been asking for more lately. He lives about 20 minutes away.

She has some money saved so she's not struggling financially, but the whole thing makes me feel sick. The worst part is she knows exactly what's happening. She told me she'd rather pay him than sit around wondering when she'll see him again.

She made me promise not to bring it up with anyone, especially him. I want to confront him because I can't imagine taking money from my own grandma just to spend time with her. But I also don't wanna betray her trust and potentially make him stop visiting altogether.

How do I handle this without making things worse for her?

Advice Received Should I report this to HR?

I have this issue where I have these imaginary friends that I talk to. It’s been something ever since I was a kid. Even as an adult, I haven’t had the ability to stop, and I have been diagnosed with autism. I don’t doubt that I have something more, but I can’t really spend money to get any other diagnostics done. This one operations manager where I work has brought up the fact that I talk to myself twice. The first time was when I talked to my equipment because it was giving me issues because sometimes people talk to inanimate objects when they’re frustrated with the object and the second time was earlier today, where I just had to ramble on and on to myself. I know it’s a bizarre behavior, but I have tried to deal with it, and it’s just caused more stress than it’s worth. I work in manufacturing. I don’t work with customers.

My (18F) boyfriend (22M) has found another girl. She lives in the same city as him. And I got really disappointed because of that, but he said that I can be his “platonic love”.

Did I really got cucked or is that something different?

Boyfriend’s breath smells bad

• Upvotes

So I’ve been with my boyfriend for 10 months. Things were great but I can’t get over his terrible breath. I’m being half funny & half serious here but his breath smells like absolute diarrhea. Every time he breathes in my face I want to puke. I kept it on the low but would gently and subtly try to guide him to brush more and floss with me but he’d never do it. I finally got so fed up I told him that his breath smells like shit! He understandably got upset and was fixated on it for a day then moved on and now doesn’t care. He even said he’d look for a dentist because he hasn’t been in 5 years. He hasn’t even begun looking for one. I’m not doing it for him he’s a grown man. He’s currently sleeping with his mouth open next to me and breathing heavy. The shit smell is making me want to vomit I can’t sleep in my own bed. Should I dump him? I don’t know how much more I can take and I think I was very up front with him.

How do I tell my MIL I want nothing to do with her anymore

She forgot to tell us a member of the family was on the sex offender registry

This summer my husband’s cousin’s husband was arrested for viewing CSAM on a home computer. He had been coming to family gatherings for 13+ years, always with my children present (my oldest is 13 now). I was reading the news article and found out he was on the registry as a lifetime offender since 2012 for CSAM. Everybody knew but nobody told my husband and I. Not the cousin, not her parents, no other cousins and not my MIL. Nobody let us know, I have 2 kids who were speech delayed.

The guy always gave me the ick. I couldn’t explain it but I didn’t want my kids around him so whenever they all went outside to play if he was around I went outside too. I made sure they were never around him with another adult watching.

I told my husband at the time that I’m beyond angry that no one thought to tell us. His mom said she “forgot” and I haven’t asked anybody else to explain. My husband can’t completely cut off his mom. She is 80, mobility challenged but refuses to leave the split level home that my husband and I own outright and she has hoarded.

I don’t want anything to do with her. It’s been almost three months and anytime I think of having to see her I get upset all over again. She has health issues and I don’t want to ruin my relationship with my husband, but how do I tell her this? Do I just ice her out? With Thanksgiving/Christmas coming up we usually host and nobody deserves to spend a holiday alone, my husband is effectively her only kid (one in the penitentiary and one passed) how do I handle that?

How Should I Convince My Friend 27F To Leave Her Criminal Boyfriend Who Has A Current Heinous Charge

This is for me to show to her later to hopefully bring her some clarity, so please show me your thoughts and possibly how you relate to discovering your partner was a terrible/manipulative person.

I (27F) have a friend (27F) that I've known for about 4 years, we'll call her Olivia; who is currently dating a repeat felon (31M) going on just over a year. We all worked together and he kept his criminal history discreet at first. In my time working with him, he seemed to enjoy tormenting people. It was smaller things at first like nonstop whistling when it drove me crazy to the point of rage, changing important labels for our expensive food products, constant pranks, etc. He would tell me stories of how he did things like force someone who "wronged" him to strip outside while he took their clothes, amongst other awful things I can't begin to recount but wish I could for the sake of this story.

He didn't get along with our KM, and tried to get her fired by reporting that she showed him things that related to sexual assault of a minor, which was an OingoBoingo (not sure how it's spelled) music video. He played up how it upset him, and it was later uncovered that he was only trying to get her canned, not anything that actually affected him(I am leadership at the store, so he personally manipulated me for this). After he was inevitably fired for being bad at his job, he tried to ruin our KM's marriage by faking to be her husband's pregnant mistress using a fake phone number due to the fact that she was talking trash about him and his relationship with Olivia behind his back. Not to mention, he has on multiple accounts openly wished for said KM to be brutally raped and tortured.

One day he messaged me on social media in a very dramatic fashion stating that he had lied to me about having gone to rehab/why he was in a sober living house, and told me he had actually spent 8 years in prison(I am 3 years sober by choice, and he would attempt to relate to me on this). I honestly didn't care or like him much, so I didn't bother looking anything up through public records. I knew it was for assault, and knew he used to get in a lot of fights. I did question why someone so proud of being a menace would hide his incarceration, though.

Skip to present. As of a few weeks ago, cops came knocking at his door with a warrant from a different state issued in 2022 and arrested him. He immediately called Olivia and told her that he received a phone call from a federal marshall letting him know he had a warrant so he could turn himself in willingly. This was the most panicked, idiotic lie he could have started with. Since when do cops give you a courtesy call about your warrants, especially when you're already on probation? Classic case of trying to shift the situation in his favor in her eyes.

The charge was "First Degree Encouraged Sexual Abuse". In Oregon, this is a VERY specific charge. This charge means digitally having, distributing and/or engaging in child content knowingly. The evidence I've heard so far through Olivia, a.k.a through him, is a 9 second video on Kik. This is obviously not everything if they arrested him over state lines, but she refuses to believe me when I say this. She believes him when he says it's not his fault, maybe he was drunk, it was a spam message, etc.

I ended up looking up his criminal history, and found I only had to Google his name because he had made multiple headlines for his previous felonies. 1) Assault 2: Bashing an old man over the head with a skateboard and knocking him out because the old man wanted them to move from the sidewalk he was cleaning, which was in front of the old man's storefront 2) He was in a group of white supremacists, matching jackets and all, and committed a hate crime against a black man where he and three other men beat the black man brutally.

Olivia is trying to give him the highest benefit of the doubt. She is "trying not to blame him for his past". To #1, "He was 18 and high" (in court he stated that he was not sorry, and was "defending his own" against a feeble 70+ year old man. The old man stated that he was afraid he would come back for him after he got out of prison). To #2, she didn't get around to enunciating her thoughts, but I believe she was trying to say the others influenced him to do it, which we all know is bullshit. The articles and records state how he beat the man, and also how he gave false statements to the FBI who were involved. A notable mention is Olivia is married to a black person. (they're polyamorous) I really thought that would hit differently for her.

I will also state that I propositioned her with if it were me in her shoes, she would be angry, judging me, and sickened by me entertaining continuing a relationship with this person. She agreed.

He did 8 years total plus multiple years of probation. The hate crime was in 2023.

He wasn't clear or honest with her on these charges, and she didn't push either. I know she knows the reality of this, but she refuses to believe someone who has treated her so well and seems so kind could be capable of committing this most recent crime, and that he is not the same person as he was when he committed the other two. I need everyone's help opening her eyes, as I haven't been able to get through to her. Even if he MIRACULOUSLY was found not guilty in this new charge, which is an extremely difficult thing to do, I need her to see the public opinion about people like him.

What should I say to her to break through her brainwashing? I'd like for advice to be as devoid of emotion as possible, as this will immediately trigger her defense. Leave your comments, reddit. I hope this post doesn't get taken down for sensitive content. Please and thank you.

How do you confess a fetish to someone that genuinely seems disgusted by it? NSFW

• Upvotes

Hi reddit, I got this problem. I (21m) have a kink and my 21 yo gf seems genuinely disgusted by it when she sees something about it online.

To me, it's a major turn on but if she feels like that, what do I do? Tell her anyway since she loves me and might accept it or keep it to myself for as long as possible?

Does any of you guys have any advice or how you overcame this in the past?

P.S. no it's not anything too strange or wild, she just likes vanilla and dislikes everything else, whatever that is. ESPECIALLY MINE.

Edit: thanks to the comment that pointed out the difference between kink and fetish, wasn't sure about it before. I do enjoy everything else, it's just something I'd really love if she did.

Advice Received I’m annoyed by my best friends boyfriends presence

My bestfriend who’s also my classmate has gotten a boyfriend and they’ve been dating idk like 8 months. He’s also in my class, but these days he’s been tagging along with us wherever we go. It’s annoying i don’t like him much and i know he doesn’t either. I’ll writing this a bit upset at her right now. She was having a conversation with him when they walked into class together, i wanted to talk to her to go see the booths they’ve installed in school downstairs. But whenever i try to talk to her when she’s talking to me she totally ignores me. I don’t want to beg for her attention but i don’t get why he’s been tagging along these days, they used to basically never talk in school and he has his own friend group. I understand he’s also a special person in her life and it’s unreasonable for me to expect her to talk to only me but it’s just kinda frustrated. I would typically go talk to some other friends but the ones in today are a bit boring and the ones i like more aren’t in. What am i even supposed to do in this situation

My parents refuse to meet my bf, advise me to break up with him to save us time

I (28F) and my bf (29M) started dating quite recently, 4 months.

For reasons I went back to live with my parents as I decided to make a change of careers and they supported me by just allowing me to go back to their house (I am financially independent, and even help with the bills of the house. They only provided me with a cheap/almost free rent so I can afford studying a bachelors degree).

The thing is that my parents are Asian and half Asian, and my boyfriend is from South America. They despise people outside my race when it comes to dating (and many other aspects). I don't share their opinions since this man is lovely and treats me right, he is not what they think he is.

This was a surprise for me because they never told me to only date Asian men, they always told me to find a good man with ambition and that will treat me right, that is the most important thing in a partner.
I knew they are kind of racist, but that they will come around after getting to know him.

In one hand I love my parents and care for them, I would love to have their approval, and obviously my bf wants it too.
In the other hand let's be real, I am an adult and I see a good future with this man, I don't mind the "race" when it comes to dating. If he is a good man, why his nationality/skin color should matter. Although I understand why my parents hold their opinions, I do not share them.

I finally was able to talk with them, and they told me that they will never want to meet my bf and they won't approve our marriage if it happens in a future, that they don't want to mix them with his people.
And they advise me to break up with him to save us time since they won't change this belief.

What just annoys me the most is that they won't even give him a chance of meeting him and judge him for what he really is. They told me that they won't doubt he might me a good man, but his race is something they will not welcome in the family.

My bf knows that my parents aren't the most tolerant people, but I know this will crush him since he also values the approval of each others parents.

I want a future with this man but it crushes me that this will break my relationship with my parents (although it never was perfect from a beginning), but even after all I still care about them.
I understand that their opinion shouldn't determine how I live my life. But it's not something easy to accept since I care for them and I want to have them in my life.

I know for a fact that they parents if they know the truth, they will advise him the same, to break up with me because my parents aren't the easiest people. And I will understand it.
How do you react when the parents of your son's gf refuse to even meet my bf and obviously them.

I do not share my parents beliefs, but this is something I wasn't expecting to face, and I am quite not sure what's best for us (me and my bf).

Edit: if I move out I can't afford my tuition, and will put more time to get my degree (something I don't want to since I have some clear goals to achieve in the near future, like a house, savings, etc) since my tuition already is eating what I am earning with my job. And I can afford to eat and to pay all my basics expenses thanks to living with my parents almost for free.
My bf still lives with their parents, he can move out, and I can go with him but I don't see it as a good option since it's early in the relationship and I don't want to be a burden for him to worry about
