Local Stuntman?

Does anyone remember our local Stuntman that were around in the early 90's? I remember going to a couple of his shows. One show was at the Reicher football field. I do remember a huge crane and a giant crate. I think he may have been in a straight jacket as well. I'm thinking it may have been Don from Gizmo Guru but I'm not exactly sure. Do any of you OG's remember who the guy was?

Fish keeping supplies

I’m going to be doing a cross country move and don’t want to lug around my collection of fish keeping supplies. I’ve got a 20 gallon octagon tank, 5 gallon fluval all in one, and a BUNCH of odds and ends including all the basics like a python, water test kit, and aquascape wood.

If you can pick up, it’s all yours for free! Dm me if interested, I’m right by the central Texas market place.

Anyone know anything about people in plain white tshirts getting kicked out of bars?

A few weeks ago I heard of a friend of a friend getting refused entry at putters because he had a white tshirt on. The bouncer went so far as to start a fist fight with the guy and gave no explanation. Couple nights ago I went out with some friends and witnessed the exact same scenario at Trojan. Again it nearly ended in a fist fight with the guy being escorted out because he was arguing with the bouncer. Google says it’s gang related/covert racism but that makes no sense to me as people of all backgrounds regular these bars and the mutual friend of mine is not black. Has anyone else been seeing/heard about this and why it seems to be a recent thing?

DnD

I’m interested in finding a DND group. I’m 26m, heavy set (if that matters) and I’m mostly available on Sunday afternoons. I’ve done maybe 3 one-shots of DND before so I understand the concept but still feel like a beginner. But I’ve played enough to know that I am more interested in the role-playing aspect than the dice rolling aspect. (hopefully that makes sense.)

AMC finally closing?

We noticed that the AMC in Waco has drastically limited the number of movies showing next week and all of the shows for this Friday and Saturday are sold out. Does anyone know if they’re finally closing, fumigating or just scheduling showtimes based on their demand?

Best cake in Waco? For an adult birthday party. Doesn’t have to be a $140 gourmet cake, just one that tastes better than a cake made out of a box.

like the title says.

Don’t need a $150 cake that took hours to decorate and design. But also don't want just a boring Duncan Hines cake made out of the box.

”Yummy, this is really good“ is the reaction I’m looking for, not “OMG this is the best cake I’ve ever eaten.“

Anywhere between Waco, Belton and Temple is fine.

PS - I know HEB and Sam’s club have decent cakes for a decent price. But those taste like they were made in a factory and frozen for a Month. Would prefer something that tastes more like what grandma made as opposed to tasting processed.

Thank you. Love you all.

Tennis Lessons in Waco?

I just moved to a small town near Waco, and I’m looking to start playing tennis. I turn 18 in November, and I’ve never played tennis, but I have played other sports and I’m fairly athletic. I’m open to take lessons Monday afternoons and Saturdays. Are there any good (preferably private) tennis coaches available that would teach a female 17yo beginner?

How bad of a commute is it to commute from Waco to Killeen? Currently living in Waco and considering a job in Killeen but not sure if this is worth it. Google says about an hour each way. Anybody living in Waco commuting to Killeen for work on a regular basis? Appreciate any insight or advice, thank you!

Antioch Waco leader Joe Ewen tries to dismiss and cover up sexual abuse, blames victim (UPDATE)

https://www.pressandjournal.co.uk/tag/river-church-banff/

In 2025, a female youth leader at River Church Banff (an affiliate location of the Antioch International Movement of Churches and River Church Network) was convicted of sexually victimizing a boy from the congregation. Senior leadership, including Rob McArthur and Joe Ewen, had been aware of reports of physical touching, allowing the abuse for several months in 2022 before notifying police in February 2023. During this period, the church conducted secret internal monitoring of the boy without informing the minor’s parents. A church staff whistleblower said leaders defended their pedophile youth leader and were more worried about protecting the church's image than being truthful and inflicting harm on the minor.

Internal messages reveal Ewen expressed a desire for the issue to “go away, I want it to disappear” during a church meeting. The mother said she felt Ewen was clearly favouring the pedo perpetrator and had shown “no concern” for her son. "No one from the church has ever told our son what happened was not his fault." "No acknowledgement of guilt … no expression of remorse or acknowledgement of harm caused." The victim's parents stated that leadership "betrayed" them by prioritizing the church’s public image over the minor's welfare. Media reporting highlighted Banff church’s formal financial and missionary links to Antioch Waco.

Subsequently, the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator opened an inquiry into the church about whether they were fulfilling their legal duties around child safeguarding and obligations as mandatory reporters of abuse.

*UPDATE\*

In Sept 2026, the OSCR determined that River Church Banff operated by Harvest Ministries Limited and the Antioch International Movement of Churches, had weaknesses in its governance and oversight, identifying deficiencies in:

  • safeguarding procedures
  • assessment and documentation of safeguarding risks
  • trustee decision-making
  • record-keeping
  • and the identification and management of conflicts of interest.

The victim said River Church leadership's mishandlings and allowance of abuse irreversibly traumatized his childhood. No senior leader from the church has stepped down or taken accountability.

River Church Banff is part of the River Church Network, and Antioch International Movement of Churches, a church movement headquartered in Waco, Texas.

Rob McArthur is the Lead Pastor of River Church Banff

Joe Ewen is the founder of the River Church Network Scotland, an Oversight Advisor(!) to the Antioch International Movement of Churches Antioch Waco and Board member of Epicentre Church Pasadena, a branch of the Antioch International Movement of Churches.
