Hey Houston! I know a ton of us work in the nightlife and event industry because duh we’re in Houston lol — and I would love some thoughts as to how we’re trying to bring people out to small local events - esp music ones— without a big name or headliner that is drawing a crowd in.

I’m helping host a Wrestle Rave and it’s just been a little brutal trying to get a consistent audience for the event. I make sure that we don’t use any AI flyers because I know that’s a big turn off, it is a 21+ event — we just prefer to have an older audience, and like I said, we don’t have any big name DJs, which might be holding us back, but quite frankly that’s not in the budget.

I feel like the concept for the event is very strong. It’s a wrestling brave where we have wrestling matches set to EDM and a live DJ inbetween the matches. We have a small Night Market that we’ve organized during the event as well as activities like a free face painter, fun little photo opps, and things like that!

Anyway, our next event is literally tomorrow on Friday and I’m struggling to get attention for it.

I’m putting together a community map of affordable meals around Houston.

The idea is simple. If you find a good local meal at a good price, add the meal, the price, and maybe a photo or quick video so other people can find it too.

With food prices getting harder on everyone, I want to make it easier to find local meals people can actually afford.

Tomorrow the ISS will fly over Houston beginning at 5:36 in the morning. It will be travelling southwest to northeast.

However the coolest thing is that a SpaceX cargo dragon will be on approach to dock with the ISS later that morning! This is an extremely rare chance to see two spacecraft illuminated overheard with your bare eyes. They will appear as one small dot next to a giant dot.

Good morning, everyone! I (23M) recently moved to the area about two weeks ago, and I’m currently living in Katy. What are some good bars in the surrounding area that you would recommend? I’m looking for places with a good vibe where it’s easy to socialize and meet new people.

I live in pearland and the chipotle next to me is kinda doodoo with portions and general cleanliness. The one in Sugarland was significantly better. Are there any other good locations?

I've been wanting for weeks to donate to all the candidates that I want to win Texas (Talarico, Hinojosa and my district candidates too etc.), but money is not exactly flowing these days so I was just kind of stuck, until I met a candidate and they gave me a free shirt with their name on it. Without thinking, I just decided to wear it today and go about my business as usual.

I drove to the the grocery store after 5pm, during peak rush, as I normally do, and then did my daily neighborhood walk when all the after-work joggers, walkers and parents are out, and then it just dawned on me that people were really paying attention to me and that without even doing almost anything, I got probably a hundred people to see my local candidate's t-shirt. Without doing anything different at all.

I did what the money would have been used for. Advertising. Reaching potential voters. And honestly, I think this was 10x better than a digital ad or a physical sign.

Just wanted to share this because I know most of us are on tighter budgets than ever before, but some of us still are thinking about wtf we can do. Well, here's one thing.

Honestly, sometimes the problems are huge, but the solutions are stupid easy. That's my story.

Going to go buy some more shirts and just rotate them for the next two weeks for all my walks and runs. I have to go find the local block walking teams though because I dont want to wait for shipping and they might just give me a free one tbh.
