Ask El Paso El Paso Matters has a chance to turn $15K into $80K for local news

Hey, El Paso!

We have a unique opportunity this El Paso Giving Day, and we wanted to share it with our community.

If we raise $15,000 by Wednesday, Oct. 14, matching funds and additional gifts can turn that support into $80,000 for El Paso Matters.

Here's how it works:

  • The first $15,000 in community donations will be matched dollar for dollar, bringing the total to $30,000.
  • Reaching that goal unlocks an additional $25,000 gift from a generous El Paso family and a $25,000 match from Meta Platforms Inc.

That's $80,000 to help keep our community informed, starting with $15,000 from El Pasoans.

At El Paso Matters, we believe journalism is a form of public service. From our schools and local government to immigration, development and the people and places that make El Paso home, our reporting is rooted in the community we serve.

Every gift, no matter the size, brings us closer to our goal and helps keep independent, nonpartisan local news accessible to everyone in El Paso.

We're so close to reaching our $15,000 early giving goal!

If you'd like to help, you can give here: https://elpasogivingday.org/organizations/el-paso-matters-inc

Thanks for supporting local journalism in El Paso!

I am coming to El Paso from Colorado to vend at an anime convention this weekend and I’ve never been! What are some spots you’d recommend for food, drinks, coffee, or just little hidden gems? I like all types of food and I’ll be solo so I’m not looking for anything large party specific. Thanks! :)

Ask El Paso In desperate need of Ardovino’s salad dressing recipe

I’ve been absolutely obsessed with Ardovino’s Italian salad dressing since I was little- the one they use on their antipasto salad. I haven’t lived in EP for years, so have family bring me jars of it. I recently learned about their pandering to Meta and the data-center they’re attempting to brining to the community, so we are boycotting them for the good of the 915.

I am down to my last jar of the coveted dressing and am in a panic about it. It’s become a regular staple for me. While it seems to have pretty simple ingredients, I’ve tried replicating it in the past with no success. Does anyone have the recipe to share? Hopeful to find a current or former employee who is willing to share the recipe in solidarity against the AI oligarchs.

Discussion DJI Curbs Hit Police Budgets: $10,500 Matrice vs. $21,000 US Rival

El Paso will be required to replace its DJI drone fleet with American-made alternatives due to federal security concerns. Although multiple independent security organizations have found no risk to US security, the FAA is still implementing a ban on all new DJI drones and drone parts manufactured in China. Consequently, the US-manufactured drones that El Paso will need to purchase are typically about twice the cost of DJI models.

Ask El Paso Realtor that could help remotely

Currently in the Navy and live out of El paso. I own a home in El Paso that currently I am renting to a friend for incredibly inexpensively. The initial plan was for him to help maintain it and do some jobs around in exchange for the low cost rent. He has done an amazing job but there are still many things I need to do that he can't be expected to complete such as fixing some dry wall issues, some roof repair, stucco repair. He is older so doing ALOT of these things is hard for him now due to medical issues. He still is helping to repaint the interior is always present when a contractor needs to come over for different types of work. The house is in generally good condition. But does need work.

Due to my job it is hard to manage this home on my own especially when I went on my deployments. I have tried to go through companies to manage the property for me but due to some repair items I had to wait as they wouldn't accept the house until everything was fixed. Fast fwd to me joining the military and life happening, here I am.

I'm not making any money on this house nor was that the real concern from the beginning. Actually breaking even. I'm really just looking for a realtor to work with who can possibly get the home inspected, tell me what I can expect to reasonably sell for in the condition it's in, and see what I can get worked on prior to a sell.

Ask El Paso anyone know where i can get actual raw goat milk on the eastside right now need it before morning?

hey everyone sorry for the weird post but im kind of in a bind

im looking for someone local preferably near the eastside or horizon area who sells or has access to raw unpasteurized goat milk i need about a gallon before 7 am tomorrow

long story short my aunts old school remedy recipe for a specific skin condition calls for it and the store bought stuff at sprouts or whole foods isnt what she needs i tried checking local farmers markets on facebook but nobody is responding this late and i really dont want to drive all the way out to canutillo or anthony in the middle of the night if i dont have to

if you have goats know a local farm that sells direct or happen to have an extra jug in your fridge i will literally drive to you right now and pay cash or zelle double what its worth

Ask El Paso First time in El Paso (and Las Cruces)! Any suggestions welcomed!

Hey everyone! In town for the game at the Sun Bowl this Saturday as a San Jose State fan. I’ve never been in El Paso before, closest I’ve been is Phoenix so I really don’t know the area well.

Best Mexican food? (Both dinner and breakfast, I love chilaquiles)

Best bar/restaurant to watch college football on Saturdays?

Anything I should see while I’m in town? Any UTEP traditions I should be aware of?

Really excited to see the Sun Bowl as its one of the gems of college football

Bonus points if anyone has Las Cruces recs as well! Thank you!

Discussion Why is Voter Turnout so low in EP ??

I recently moved to El Paso from Denver, Colorado, and one thing I’ve noticed is what seems to be a lack of voter participation and political awareness. I’m curious why that is. Is it a lack of access to information, limited community engagement, or simply a lack of interest in local politics?

I’d genuinely like to hear perspectives from people who have lived here longer. What do you think contributes to this, and what could encourage more people to become informed and involved in local elections?

Hey El Paso, I dented my car a bit. Nothing too serious. Paint is still intact. I've gotten quotes from 250$ all the way up to 1400$ . Don't wanna point fingers but can someone recommend a shop that would fix this?

Moving to El Paso Calling all homeschool moms raising autistic preteens! ❤️

Hi moms! I’m looking to connect with other moms who are homeschooling their preteen children with autism, especially those around ages 10–13.
I recently started homeschooling my 11-year-old son, who has autism and ADHD, and honestly, I have so many questions! I want to make sure he’s learning, socializing, making friends, and getting opportunities to explore his interests outside of our home.
I would love to hear about your experiences!
A few things I’m curious about:
📚 Homeschooling: What curriculum do you use? How do you structure your days, especially when your child struggles with focus, reading, or other subjects?
👫 Socialization: Are your kids involved in homeschool groups, co-ops, clubs, or other activities where they can meet kids their age?
⚽ Sports and activities: Do your kids participate in sports, martial arts, swimming, art classes, gaming clubs, or anything else? Where have you found welcoming environments for them?
💙 Mom friendships: Are there autism mom groups or homeschool mom groups where you can connect with other moms who understand?
🧩 Support and resources: Have you found any programs, classes, or community activities that work especially well for autistic preteens?
❤️** The honest side of homeschooling**: What has been the hardest part, and what do you wish you had known when you first started?
I’m not expecting every child to be the same. I just want to learn from moms who have been through this or are figuring it out alongside me.
If you’re comfortable sharing, I would love to know what city or area you’re in, too, so I can look into local resources.
I’m hoping to build connections, learn from other families, and find ways to help my son grow academically, socially, and emotionally.
Thank you to anyone willing to share their experiences! ❤️
