Two vipers on 6 October fired missiles at an IRGC affiliated boat that was providing surveillance and targeting data of US Ships in the gulf and feeding that intel back to Iran

On Oct. 6, U.S. forces destroyed an Iranian-affiliated dhow conducting surveillance and targeting U.S. Navy ships in the Gulf of Oman. Over the past seven months, Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has continued to indiscriminately target thousands of civilian mariners transiting regional waters in addition to U.S. Navy warships. Crew members were safely removed prior to destruction of the dhow. Repatriation efforts are ongoing.

Just realized there’s two different brands that produce cammies. Never buying the one on the left again. Shitty quality, sleeves are uneven as hell when trying to roll them

Needing help

I’m sorry if this isn’t the correct place to post and ask for help but I really need it.

Got out (honorably) end of 24’ and have been struggling to find what direction I should take in life. I tried the cooperate world directly after getting out and couldn’t hack it, and was just recently let go from a fire academy due to my inability to get along with the other cadets (it’s a long story). I’m not looking for pity and this certainly isn’t a sob story, I’m just having a hard time and would like some advice.

If there’s anything you all would recommend I take a look at I’m open ears and would really appreciate it. I’m trying my best to use these experiences since getting out as learning moments and grow as an individual.

I’m still young and inexperienced, trying my hardest to not think I’m a failure and disappointment.

Anything is appreciated. Thank you and Semper Fi

Smug lady bc her son is a Marine.

Question, I’ve been out for about 13 years now so maybe things have changed, but this lady I work with keeps saying her son is ‘infantry but training to be an FMF Corpsman’. I got my FMF pin when I was in and sure we trained marines on how to treat some basic things and I’m aware of CLS, so my question is, are Marines training to be FMF corpsman now or is her son lying to her?

Capt Tejack and her mom keep crushing it in Season 39 of the Amazing Race. They won the leg of episode 3 (first daughter-mother duo to accomplish that feat).

Looking for someone to help with a little research on my grandfather's time in the 3rd Division during WW2

I'm currently digging into some history on my grandfather's time in the Marines during WW2, and possibly across his approximately 27 years serving, the majority of that as a recruiter.

Long ago before he passed in 1999, he gave me an Iwo Jima battle history book, and wrote down 2nd Batallion, Ninth Marines. We'd talked about the Third's involvement at Iwo Jima, and Cushman's Pocket.

As a younger kid I loved looking at a book he had - the Third Marine Division history book that was produced by the Marine Corps and given to everyone in the Third. He eventually put it away as it was getting rather tattered.

I came across that book online randomly a couple weeks ago, found that it was reprinted in 1988, in and ordered a copy. I'm still going to track down an original copy, because it's reprints have paper pages with rather faded photos. The book he had, an original, had glossy pages, and better quality photos.

I just got the book in the mail yesterday and I'm digging in, highlighting anything that refers to 2/9, their leadership, etc.

Beyond his being in the 2/9, I don't have any details, and that would help a ton. ChatGPT has been helpful in tracking down various details, but it could do so much more if I knew those specifics.

Does anyone have any advice, or willingness to help me find some of this information if you have access to specific Marine Corps records, or resources from that part of World War II? I would really like to know more about the third's involvement at Bougainville and Guam, and everything leading up to those battles, and after.

I can remember he and my grandmother talking about him being at Okinawa, and also in China, but I think he was stationed there after the war was over.

Also, he earned a purple heart at Iwo Jima, and I had always heard that he had been hit by a shell, but nothing more specific. I have been trying to find records of purple heart recipients, but I'm coming up short finding the exact situation that he received one for.

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer. I never served, was born in 1977, and have always had tremendous respect for his service, and reverence for the service of those who fought there, and those who gave their lives in WW2. This part of my family's history means a lot, and preserving that knowledge for my own kids is important to me.

Lat Move CID or ECP

I am close to getting my degree in Information Systems alongside my CompTIA Security+, Network+, A+, and Project+ (PM+) certifications, and I am currently weighing my career options. My main goals are to stay stationed in Okinawa, enjoy my personal time, and escape the standard enlisted quality-of-life burdens and operational culture that typically come with being in the Marine Corps. To achieve this, I have narrowed my options down to two choices: either commissioning as an officer or lateral moving into CID (Criminal Investigation Division). The primary reason I am unwilling to consider other MOS paths is that I simply do not want to continue dealing with the difficult enlisted quality of life as it currently stands in the Marine Corps.

Traveling with Uniforms

Any recommendations on travel bags that are not coyote brown to hold my service uniforms? Including my Alpha coat? Will be doing a good amount of traveling over the next two weeks with my service uniforms. Anybody used one of those 2-1 leather duffle bags? Would prefer it look as civilian as possible. I fucking hate traveling in airports with anything that identifies me as military. Besides boarding first that is 😎

Switching plans on leave

If someone were to take leave with their address in the local area and the leave was approved, is it cool if they went out of state on a road trip instead?

My leave request doesnt have any activities listed, all it says is its a mental health break. But technically my "leave address" is still local, so just wondering...

After falling out of shape since getting out, I've gotten back in the Gym, hit a big milestone today.

Not sure why I'm sharing this here. I'm sure some people are going to give me shit for getting fat, but oh well it happens.

I got out in 2017, kept eating like I was still in, and was doing the college thing so I wasn't moving a lot.

I got out of the service at 205lbs, had a 274 PFT (I sucked at the run) and a 284 CFT. Within 7 months I got up to 285lbs. By the time I graduated college I was 305lbs.

This year I started taking care of myself, and I dropped down to 285lbs, eating healthier, not working out yet.

Now I've been going back to the gym without missing a session for 2 months now. A lot of my strength is back.

I'm down to 265lbs, and I hit a major milestone for myself at 35 years old. I did my first full pullup in almost 10 years. Back when I was in I could easily hammer out 23 at 205lbs (5'10" btw).

I also hit a leg press PR of 870lbs, so that's neat.

I haven't started running again yet, waiting to lose a little more weight.

Tldr: When you get out, stop eating like you're burning 4000 calories a day. It's easier to maintain than it is to get back.

Sorry for the post spam mods, messed up the title on the last post.

Go. To. Medical.

Hey guys, it's that annoying devil doc. This is just your friendly reminder to go to medical and address your aches and pains. These can add up over time, and will vastly support any VA claims that you may have. I highly encourage all of my devil dogs (and devil dolphins) to go get yourself checked out, make sure that you're up to snuff.

I'm more than happy to assist and any concerns that you might have with engaging with your chain of command, or if you feel that you are being pressured to not go to medical. Documentation is important, and making sure that that documentation is in your record is equally important!

Why do I do this? Because I had a good mentor, and I had six-figure knee surgery completely covered by the VA. If you served, you deserve medical treatment for what you got during service. Anyways, September fiddles and such!

Devil Dogs who have used their VA loan(s)

I am using a VA loan for the very first time and I'm trying to figure out if this process is just hellacious in and of itself, or if my loan processor is fully retarded.

I've been trying to close on property for the last billion fucking years (seemingly). It's been just one seemingly endless clown show.

I'm leaning towards processor being a bunch of fucking morons but I might also just be a full bitch out of patience at this point.

Has this been a good process for anyone?
And does it ever end?

Mct injury advice

So basically I got done with boot camp not too long ago, long story short I did something to my knee. Shit hurt all cycle, it’s hard to fully extend and squat on. Got to mct two weeks ago said nothing about the pain, ended up being put in mat due to there being not enough space in the female platoon. I never got checked out for it in boot because I feared staying. I got picked back up today and now I’m wondering whether or not I say something to medical tomorrow. I mainly don’t wanna get stuck in Lima, would love another two weeks in mat to recover but idk if I can swing that. Also don’t know if I should just push through. Any input is appreciated

Marine Corps. Marathon

Anyone ever ran the MCM before? I’m running at the end of the month here and I was planning on just stuffing my little flip belt with some haribo bears and getting water at all the water points. My wife thinks I’m insane and wants me to get a vest to carry more shit but I really don’t want to buy a vest to use it for one day.

How possible is it to just carry your own food and no water?
