You can have my fat stack if I can get back the homies and my body. I'll keep the mental shit because no one needs this.

I did 10 years and have never even received the GWOT. For whatever reason, our unit didn’t award them.

🤣😂 yeah dude that sucks if you care about ribbons. Theres a song about going to die for nothing and getting a ribbon..thats cool, have you gained knowledge and lessons from your time in the Marine Corps? Could you try LAT moving? Dog stay in long enough and you'll see one for sure.

Could be worse: you could be 32 year old Prior service Corporal and everyone just looks at you like your gonna wither and die in formation :,)

Was in for 4 years doing gwot things. I have a fat stack. No one has asked to see it since I left my beloved Corps in 2007.

Same, once your out, nobody gives a flying fuck. Its cool when in, sure. I mean, I guess its nice to look at it once in awhile to remind one self of once having walked amongst giants or sum shit. But overall, it just collects dust, and im stuck with the body pains, divorce, and the mental stuffs

It's nothing but timing, and your time will come. Hell, I didn't even have the ND to go with my GC after 4 years. And then shit just blew the fuck up from that point forward. Finally got that ND, and a star to go on it.

I remember back in 2012 in Horno, seeing an NCO without 2-3 rows was a straight up anomaly.

How have you been a pilot for 10 years and never deployed? Every pilot I know gets worked like a $10 mule

u/MotherFuckinPrez 1d ago
The 3rd ribbon is the sea service deployment ribbon

Dicking around on Oki for 6 months or on a MEU ain’t really it. Not to mention, not a single personal award? wtf is going on here

I’ve only been in two units. The first one had a “we don’t believe in end of tour awards” policy. I’m still at the second one

The third ribbon is being in Oki for a year, bronze star makes 2 years. He’s at his second duty station, which likely means he’s halfway through his enlistment in Oki.

I come from a big military family. Literally “every male serves” kind of family. Plenty of my uncles and cousins only have like 3 ribbons.

Once I got on station in Vietnam, I never heard anyone, any time, talking about any ribbons or medals, except maybe as a joke. To this day, I dont remember how I made buck sergeant. I sure af wasn't humping for it.
I DO remember my dad WW2 vet in the ETO. He and everyone else were just dumb country boys. Someone had heard about one of their guys who wasn't around any more, how he had won a posthumous medal and got to go home, and they all wanted one, yoo..

I'm a SSgt with 2 hash marks and no good cookie. Thats literally my stack too. Wouldnt say I tried to get caught, but the stuff I was getting up to was just not worth hiding, like chucking eggs at my Plt Sgt's window when I was a Lance lol

u/KingNothing1999 bend metal and breakstuff (sometimes on purpose) 23h ago
Either you've been in for ten years and haven't served 3 consecutive years without getting an NJP, or you are owed a good conduct medal. That would make it 4 medals at least.

Ten years with only 3 ribbons is rough. Have you tried going to war perhaps?
