I would say goofy, rather than ugly. I always liked it's lines. Then when the USS Intrepid Museum opened in NYC in the early '80s, and I saw this in the theater, I was really sold.

The a-6 is my all time favorite airplane. So fuckin sexy with those lines.

Intruders were great birds with a great name alright. Suckers could loiter for hours and put cas right on the money.

While A-10's got all the press and fame A-6's got it done quietly and effectively. Outstanding Birds.

It can carry more bombs than it has hard points for. Word back in the day was you could remove the gear doors and hang bombs in their place. Never saw it done(I was an A4m guy), but I heard that a few times.

I don't care what anyone says, this was the sexiest aircraft ever to grace a Navy or Marine Corps air wing. I stand by that.

Met a back seater (or side seater?) Marine at work who said we basically do the same thing... dude, we are not the same, Rad BN doesn't just jam. and he was all like What do you mean? I was like , The rest is classified.
