So the soap holder on my bathroom wall just fell off. I was wondering if anyone knows how to fix something like this? There doesn’t seem to be the same moisture barrier thing behind it like tiles. Is there a way I can just put it back in using something?
I have these quartz and metal doorknobs, they originally came with wire wrapped around, but they broke very easily and the wire started unwrapping.
I've reattached the screw to the crystal with some strong epoxy and bought some new wire to replicate the original design, but the question is the best way to properly secure the wire after rewrapping.
I was thinking of getting a soldering iron and trying to solder the wire to the screw part, but I'm not sure if that would actually work.
Hi guys, first time homeowner here and was wondering what size of filter I should get for our home furnace? The dimensions of a filter that fit are 16x20x? And it's that last "?" that's giving me a headache.
Here's a video of what the filter area looks like. I almost feel like there's something missing, like the "track" is supposed to be where a 16x20x1 filter should go but it's just free standing. When I opened it up for the first time there was a 16x20x1 filter but it was just leaned over on its side, and I wasn't sure if it was doing anything, it wasn't even against the furnace part.
My alternative thought was to put the filter in the area between the "track" and the furnace part, but that measures 8 inches and I don't think they sell filters that deep. Would a 16x20x4 inch filter work if I just plop it in there? Should I stack two of them in there to fill the gap?
Tl;dr: Is my furnace area missing sections that are supposed to make it work better? Or will a 16x20x4 inch filter propped up against the furnace work? It just seems weird to have filters not slotted into place.
I poured boiling water in this container and put the lid on. Now the lid is stuck. I tried putting the bottom half in boiling water to see if the lid would come loose. Also tried putting the lid in boiling water to see if it would expand.
So this marshal 4 given to me by my sister they worked just fine for a while but one day only one side that was working (the one with the button) the other side were silent but when I touch the cable I could hear sound for short while, I tried fixing it but I couldnt find anything odd or wrong with it, could it be fixed?
Since I moved into this flat last year one of the doors on my upper kitchen cabinets has been loose at the top hinge, and while some friends were over on the weekend it finally came down. To my untrained eye it looks like the place where the hinge was attached has been damaged and possibly lost some crucial fitting, meaning it would require more than just a screw driver to re-attach and therefore would be beyond my own very limited DIY experience/ability to fix.
Could some kind guru look at the pics and tell me how easily this could be repaired, or whether as a total novice I should just get a pro in? Thanks in advance.
My lovely daughter gave our new lamp a shake and the threaded bulb disconnected from the lamp post. This presents a problem and the bulb is surrounded by a big glass orb. The photos show the area at the top of the bulb but I have no idea how to open it. The holes on top do not align with the screws visible from the bottom. I tried prying but that didn't seem to make a difference. Any guidance appreciated!!
Does anyone have advice on how to clean my griddle?
edit: don't scrub it with anything abrasive. Let it cool down till it's just warm, splash some water on there and the gunk should lift right off with a flat scraper while it sizzles. Wipe it dry with paper towel and a tiny drop of oil and it'll look brand new.
I have these Sony brand Bluetooth headphones, model "WF-C700N ear-in" and they work well and everything, the thing is that well, I leave context:
I and my younger brother normally use it, mostly my younger brother uses it because I do I have wired headphones and he doesn't use a microphone, well, one day I wanted to use them for something to do at home while listening to a podcast like that, and I saw that they were dirty, since he uses them more than he does, so I sent my brother to clean them, then he gave them to me so that I used them and in the end he kind of cleaned them but too much.
Well the point is that I saw that he removed a sponge-type pillow, I don't know, that is inside the tube where the sound passes between the speaker and towards the ear, which makes it act as "ear-in" headphones, that's what I investigated, and the truth is that this meant that the headphones literally no longer worked, if you stop the sound and listen to it but they sound worse than cheap ones.
And well, I come here to ask for help on how I should fix this, if I should buy a sponge and replace it, or if the Sony company already sells this type of replacement to fix them myself, since these headphones are recent (less than 1 year) and honestly I'm too lazy to replace them, or not make unnecessary expenses.
Thank you for reading and I await your answers. i used translator, so some words seems sketchy.
Also this is my first post ever made in reddit so im not used of this page, since i always search on youtube and etc, but in this case i did not find anything at all, so i asume my case is super rare to happend.
image of the headphones model for referenceimage of the headphones, the duct that connects between the speaker and the ear (it must be a sponge in there theoretically) so you normally not have to see the speaker, but a sponge instead
hi! i recently tested my apartment for lead and the deeper layers of the paint came back positive. before i knew this, id put multiple holes in the wall (probably 100+) in various places in my apartment. i’ve vacuumed since then, but theres some furniture i haven’t moved where drywall dust, etc. could have fallen behind. so i’m looking for some instruction/tips on how to clean. right now i have my cat in the room where ive cleaned the most since doing anything with the walls, and im a bit nervous letting her back into the main apartment until i do something to clean. ive also turned off fans/AC to stop any dust circulating. thanks in advance!
I have two 4-drawer file cabinets full of papers that have a musty odor. They have been in a commercial indoor storage facility for ten years. There is no sign of any water damage or visible mold anywhere, but the musty or mildewy odor is distinct. It was probably in the papers before the file cabinets were moved to the storage facility. Now I want to move them into my home. I have moved a small sample of the papers and aired them out a bit. After a few weeks, the odor is less, but still noticeable.
I have prepared this wall using stuccocret, it is sanded and finished. I am not entirely sure about how to proceed with painting because of the 2 tones.
I have already patch tested the paint ( a darker green ) on the green part of the wall and it looks great. My plan was to tape around the door etc, paint with white on the tape so that the green wont bleed, prime the entire wall with a grey (?) primer, and then apply 2 layers of the green paint.
I am not sure if this is the correct way to proceed though.
I’ve had this giant cantilevered patio umbrella for a few years but it’s finally died. As you can see i’m pretty exposed and i watched the umbrella nearly tip into the pool during a windstorm, so i replaced the water with sand. That sure held it in place! Trouble is now it’s immobile and must have close to 500lbs of damp sand within, accessible only via 4” hole. My OG hero plan was to cut the base open on all four sides and remove/reuse the sand by sweeping it up/into the paver joints, then rebuild the relocation mechanism more robustly (I own a welder and figured I could make it work but was never confident enough to just get started), but the mechanism has completely failed and now the cloth is also wearing thin, so why bother.
I suppose my initial recovery plan is still viable, just need to then chop it up to haul it away, but I am open to other ideas, up to hauling away the whole kit and kaboodle if I knew the type of company to call- thinking now of a junk hauler? Do they do “recovery” missions or just curbside retrieval?
Delivery drivers, Ubers, UPS, etc simply cannot find my house, even with extremely exact directions. It's not even in a remote area, it's two residential streets away from a main road. I do live in a neighborhood that has mailboxes on one side, so that can be confusing- but I say to ignore the mailboxes in my directions. I have my house number displayed in two prominent locations and I give visual descriptions like "lamppost in front yard" "rainbow flag on stairs". I even say what kind of car and it's colour is in the driveway. This has been happening for years and I'm at my wits end. How do I make my house easy to find?
Accidentally left a plant pot with a wet base on our wooden table for too long and it left this mark. Any tips? Already tried wood polish/conditioner and restore-a-finish. It’s really in there though.
