Announcement The purpose of this subreddit

Hello everyone! You may have noticed some major changes happening to this subreddit, and I'm happy to say that /r/DiagnoseMe is finally ready for business. However, I would like to clarify the true purpose of this subreddit;

First of all, this subreddit is NOT a replacement for a doctor. You should not, in any way, avoid seeing your doctor or alter the frequency of your doctor visits because of anything said in this subreddit. If there is a concern you would have previously gone to the doctor for, please do not hesitate. This subreddit is here for informal second opinions, minor problems that you wouldn't go to the doctor for anyway, and ease of mind.

The main thing to remember is to use common sense. If you are having severe pain after a surgery or something of the likes, please go to the doctor and do not post it on Reddit.

If you are not a doctor and are posting with information, please clarify that you are not a doctor (typing "Not a doctor," at the beginning of your comment is enough.)

Please take the time to read the sidebar before posting. Thank you, and welcome!

Sorry, I know this might be a little different but it’s very important to me. About a year and a half ago I had a super traumatic event. I smoked a THC cart, i never did, but was super stressed that night due to other stuff. After smoking my head started moving to the right and to the left uncontrollably like I was possessed, I recorded this video, and then I lied down. When I layed down I felt a weird sensation like I could feel my skin and my heartbeat and my veins, etc. When I closed my eyes and opened them I could hear static and I got huge tunnel vision. It’s like my whole vision was a small square surrounded by black and I was sinking into my bed. It was like I was in a dark dimension falling away from reality and then I saw some very scary lsd/dmt hallucination patterns. I woke up with a svt and chest pain and collapsed out of fear and couldn’t see anything even after I opened my eyes. While the paramedics got me I imagined having to press on an imaginary button while a slider slid past my heart and press it at the right time for my heart to keep beating. Crazy and dumb I know but I wanna know what drug this possibly couldn’t been laced into it, or if it was a really bad case of THC potency. I’ve tried every resort, being to countless doctors and cardiologists and have chronic lightheaded attacks and crippling dysautonomia symptoms. I am a shell of my old self and live constantly ill, lightheaded, fatigued, and I wanna know any hints I can to see what caused this in the first place. I want answers. I know it’s a shot in the dark but any hints would be useful if anyone has seen the pattern before from people. All my tests come back normal but I’m not normal anymore.

Ears, nose, throat, and mouth UPDATE - Scary Neck Lump - Advice please

Hi everyone! Thanks so much for all the advice and conversation on my last post. I got my ultra sound results and it’s not great 😔 My PCP called me today to schedule the CT with contrast and my ENT was able to move up my appt to this afternoon. I don’t really know how to understand the results but I googled it and a loss of fatty hilum is apparently a super red flag.

Ultrasound results -
“Impression
Two hypoechoic lesions in the right neck corresponding to the area of palpable concern.
The larger right cervical lymph node measures up to 3.0 cm in maximal dimension and demonstrates loss of the normal central fatty hilum. This is an indeterminate and potentially suspicious finding.
NECK CT with IV contrast or ultrasound-guided fine needle aspiration or core biopsy recommended for definitive histological characterization.
The second right cervical lymph node measures up to 1.4 cm with a preserved central fatty hilum, likely reactive.
Electronically signed by: (removed for privacy)
Signed date and time: 10/13/2026 9:16 AM
Narrative
EXAMINATION: US SOFT TISSUE HEAD OR NECK
INDICATION: 23 year old female with palpable lump on right neck for 1.5 months, initially painful, now non-tender.
COMPARISON: None available.
TECHNIQUE: Real time grayscale and color Doppler ultrasound imaging of the soft tissues of the right neck was performed corresponding to the area of palpable concern.
FINDINGS:
Targeted ultrasound evaluation of the palpable area of concern in the right neck demonstrates two hypoechoic lesions.
First lesion measures 3.0 x 1.0 x 1.0 cm. It is hypoechoic and lacks a normal central fatty hilum, concerning for an abnormal cervical lymph node.
Second lesion measures 1.3 x 1.4 x 0.5 cm. It is hypoechoic and demonstrates a preserved central fatty hilum, consistent with a benign or reactive lymph node.
No cystic mass, abscess, or foreign body is identified in the region of interest.”

Could this be an STI?

Post image
2 Upvotes

A few days ago I hookup with a guy in college and had oral sex for the first time. I’m not sure if it’s just me overthinking, but it’s always good to have others opinions. Could this be a possible STI or maybe just irritation for doing it for the first time . I’m really freaking out.

Whenever I drink carbonated drinks it hurts slightly and the back right near my tonsils where most of the inflammation is on feels very swollen when i swallow.

Can’t get erection after testicular injury

• Upvotes

I am desperate and don’t know what to do. An injury probably just ruined my life

I can’t get erected after testicular injury.

I am so scared

I was hit in my testicles very strong , I was immediately sent to the ER at a hospital , they performed an ultrasound and supposedly the results came back”normal” now almost a week of the incident the pain is gone but can’t get erect nothing nothing works. It’s pointless going to the ER that treated me because they will refer me to a urologist. I am scared the impact damage my nerves or something I don’t know . I don’t feel paint but I feel some sort of discomfort when I touch my penis

Today I went to see a urologist but they were able to schedule an appointment for me until next Friday. That’s gonna be a long wait.

So I will wait for one more week without being treated

Chronic and severe pain | dont know what to do

• Upvotes

Age/Sex: 35M
Primary Complaint: Chronic, severe, and incapacitating left periscapular and thoracic pain following an acute episode in 2020.
Duration: 6 years (since 2020).
Existing Medical Conditions: Psoriatic Arthritis (PsA) — currently well-controlled on biologic therapy.
Current Medications: Tramadol, Cyclobenzaprine (Flexiban), Pregabalin, Piroxicam, and a Biologic agent for PsA.

Case Presentation & History

In 2020, during a high-intensity workout (BodyCombat), I experienced a sudden, transient episode of paralysis/inability to move my left upper extremity lasting a few seconds.

Two to three days later, I developed a severe pain localized to the medial border of the left scapula, radiating to the ipsilateral chest, axilla, and rib cage. Since then, it has evolved into a chronic, highly disabling pain. It is best described as an inflammatory-like, burning, and hot sensation, occasionally accompanied by electric-shock-like dysesthesia.

Aggravating & Alleviating Factors

  • Triggers: Absolute intolerance to any exercise involving the left upper extremity, particularly subduction (scapular depression/retraction) and external rotation.
  • Thermal response: Highly intolerant to heat (exacerbates the burning sensation). It only alleviates with ice/cryotherapy.
  • Physical Exam: Negative Palm-up test. No pain elicited during the painful arc test.

Workup & Diagnostics

  • Cervical Spine MRI: Unremarkable.
  • Left Upper Extremity EMG/NCS: Unremarkable (no signs of long thoracic, spinal accessory, or dorsal scapular neuropathy captured).
  • Scapulothoracic MRI: Unremarkable.
  • Left Shoulder MRI: Bicipital, supraspinatus, and infraspinatus tendinitis.
  • Left Scapula CT: Calcification of the supraspinatus.

Interventions & Outcomes

I have been managed by Rheumatology, Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R), and Neurology, alongside continuous physical therapy for over 5 years.

  • Injections: 4 scapulothoracic bursa corticosteroid injections yielded only mild, transient improvement.
  • Neuromodulation: Recently initiated neuromodulation therapy, which provided some baseline pain reduction. However, I remain completely unable to perform any upper-limb physical activity.

Note

I have completely run out of diagnostic and therapeutic ideas. The specialists I have consulted are equally at a loss. Living with this level of chronic, refractory pain is becoming unsustainable. I am highly suspecting a complex nerve entrapment syndrome (perhaps a dynamic entrapment missed by a static EMG), a form of Scapulothoracic Bursitis/Snapping Scapula variant, or a localized neurogenic issue, but given my background in PsA, it complicates the picture. Any insights, alternative diagnostic pathways, or specialized center recommendations would be deeply appreciated.

Ears, nose, throat, and mouth Weird red patch on the eardrum after removing earwax.

Post image
• Upvotes

Eardrums aren't supposed to bleed like this right? It looks like a blood vessel or two decided to bleed with all the blood sitting on the eardrum. I already checked again a few minutes later and the bleeding hasn't progressed.

The red spot was covered by earwax before, which is already removed in the picture. Should I be worried 😭 I don't really hear an increase in my tinnitus soo

What started off as small red area got a little bigger, I don't know what it is. It doesn't hurt or itch. Nothing hurts at the touch, no weird sensations. I first noticed it maybe 3 weeks ago. It hasn't spread to my other fingers or anything.

I'm afraid it might be hiv or aids but it's not exactly like what it looks like on those Google images. Also, I go the gym, so maybe it's something contracted there?

Brain and nerves Weirdly powerful Deja Vu

This was over a year ago.

Im at work, my job involves walking a specific route in a manufacturing facility, I walk this same route daily, twice.

About halfway though with no warning I got what can only be described as a very powerful Deja Vu feeling about 30 seconds later I had a memory issue, I knew I was in work and I knew my route but I did not know specifics eg I knew I had to walk through a door as I do every day but I didn't know what was on the other side.

This memory aberration lasted approximately ten minutes and sort of faded rather than ending suddenly.

I retained full memory of the episode.

Never had it before, or since.

Male: 50, no history of mental issues other than ASD.

I do get occasional optical migraines with aura, about twice a year.

General 30M with tinnitus, muscle loss, recurring UTIs, worsening facial skin, and no morning erections

I am a 30-year-old male, and I have been experiencing several health problems over the past few years.

Headaches: I occasionally experienced headaches about 5 years ago.

Tinnitus: I developed tinnitus afterward, and I still have it.

Recurring UTIs: I experienced recurring bacterial urinary tract infections.

Skin problems: The skin on my face has been getting worse.

Muscle loss: I have lost a significant amount of muscle mass naturally, without intentionally trying to lose weight.

Sexual health: I have not had morning erections for the last 4 years.

My details:

Age: 30

Sex: Male

Height: 5'7"

Weight: 70 kg

Tests I have already done:

HbA1c: Normal

Iron: Normal

Thyroid function: Normal

Testosterone: Normal

Cbc normal

I am concerned because these symptoms involve several different parts of my body.

What could be causing these symptoms? Could they be related to one underlying condition, or might they have separate causes? Which specialist should I consult, and what further tests might be worth discussing with a doctor?

I would appreciate any helpful advice or experiences.

Women's Health Spotting every day of cycle besides ovulation, pain during sex, random intense cramping after exercise. 32F

Thumbnail gallery
1 Upvotes

No infection, normal pelvic exam, normal hormone panel (taken during CD2). TSH normal, coagulation tests normal.

Spotting started over the summer after I had already had the odd symptom of lack of PMS symptoms (I have always had breast swelling and pain in luteal but it stopped in April).

Spotting was brownish black but now brownish pink. Ovulation seems normal.

Endometrioma/endometriosis seem most likely, or is there a high risk for ovarian/endometrial cancer?

Women's Health Irregular menstrual cycles

White 24F. 4'10, 100 lbs. Southeast U.S.

I have no pre-existing medical conditions. I've never had sex and have never used any contraceptive.

I had my first period at age 12. My cycles have been fairly irregular ever since, though they were regular in 2023 (unsure of reason), but became irregular again in early 2024. I had insurance at the time and my lab work was normal, although I also (foolishly) agreed to a pap smear and was traumatized, which kept me from eating well and my weight dropped to 85 lbs. Being undernourished didn't help the irregularity, but after therapy and time... my cycles are still irregular. I don't have insurance anymore and no longer trust doctors anyway, hence why I'm consulting Reddit.

Family history: My mom has (and her mom had) hypothyroidism, and also had irregular periods. My mom frequently had heavy periods with painful cramping. Neither my mom nor her mom had difficulties with conception, if that's helpful in diagnosing me.

When I menstruate, it's not particularly heavy or painful; I haven't had unexplainable weight gain or weight loss; I haven't had any hair thinning or brittle nails. I tend to get cold easily, but that's been true since childhood.

Any ideas?

Gut, bowel, and stomach Pooping Bloody mucus NSFW

Post image
3 Upvotes

Sorry for the super tmi photo

I woke up this morning with stomach pain and have been passing diarrhea all morning (I'm assuming from something foreign I ate yesterday), however, I started passing just mucus, now I'm passing mucus and blood. I'm assuming my lower intestines are super inflamed, but when I google it or ask ChatGPT, it tells me to go to urgent care immediately, however, I don't have health insurance. Is this something that I can just kind of wait and see if it gets better? This is the only time I've had this happen besides like an anal fissure or something.

Chest and lungs Left side of chest rattles when i cough or forcefully exhale?

29 female, six months pregnant. I started having a cold eight days ago, still have congestion and cough, coughing. Today I noticed if I forcefully exhale, the left side of my chest vibrates or rattles. It also happens if I do a really hard cough. I’m wondering if it’s just mucus I still need to get rid of? I’m hoping it’s not pneumonia or bronchitis or something.
