Physician Responded Final Update- Mass in Chest

Age 36

Height. 5’4

Weight. 145

Race. White

Duration of complaint. 3 months

Location chest

Hello!

I’ve made two previous posts about the mass in my chest
And I want to extend my sincere thanks to this community and the doctors for supporting me and sharing their stories and opinions.

I did have the surgery exactly one week ago and recovery has been really hard. I never had a chest tube before. I did get the results that it was stage 1 thymoma cancer today. The surgeon called me, but he told me that the surgery took the whole mass with clear margins so I’m following up with cat scans at his office for the next few years.

Again, im so very thankful. This has been a crazy couple months and this community made me feel comforted.
Here’s to never posting in here again lol

Physician Responded Almost died from a skin-only tummy tuck at a low-cost cosmetic chain. 11 months post-op, my body is still violently rejecting these hard, transparent plastic chunks—and the clinic is ghosting my record requests. What are these?

I’m 5’5 134lbs and had a tummy tuck at a low cost medical chain facility. I almost died and complained about my care and went to another hospital for after care, wound care, mri, X-rays and many other things regarding complications. 5 months after surgery these came out of my incision from my skin only tummy tuck. now 11 months later I had an ultrasound that confirmed more of these fragments. does anyone know what they are? the surgeon didn’t not disclose that anything was left internally and the clinic refuses to answer my questions and request for my medical file.

*more pics of days 1-5 and drainage in comments\*

28F

5'4" x 130lbs x white

multiple abscesses(?) in left armpit, extreme pain/limiting mobility, most have drained at this point (night of day 8) yet hospital keeps telling me there is no fluid and refuses to drain or even re evaluate.

been progressing for 8 days

bactrim generic - sulfamethox-azole-tmp ds tablet 800mg (was given 20 pills) given 1 dose on day 5 and picked up script on day 7

also prescribed Keflex have not been able to fill that script - dr told me if I could only get one at first to get the bactrim picking up Keflex tomorrow

smoke cigarettes (pack a day)

iv heroin user (have always been super careful being a user bc ive seen so many people with abscesses and I had never had one until this and one that just healed)

^context^ I had got a burn from a cigarette on my back/inner thighs and It was in process of healing, I got arrested and was put in county jail where I developed my first 2 abscesses right above the healing burn they grew very fast and by day 2 or 3 in county the top one was so swollen/tight the head looked red/purple I asked for help they said I had to submit a sick call at this point my whole inner thigh was red/pink and very swollen and in a lot of pain. I sat on the toilet day 4 and it popped (and I didn't even sit on it!) it popped so hard I literally wiped up pus/blood all the way to the other wall/had gotten multiple drops all over the floor. Nurse came to see me when I asked to be seen he walked up looked at the open wound and said oh ive seen much worse you'll be fine and walked off- started antibiotics that night tho (unsure of what antibiotic it was) when that kept draining though for a while it was like black blood/pus my bunkie was swearing it was a spider bite due to that. I got out on day 6(only got 2 days of meds) pic of what it looked like once I got out. its now closed and I guess just scarring or the skin is still healing but yeah no open wound and been good for a while.

- so a few days after being released from jail (leg one was still open and had just started taking a turn for the better I bought a brand new razor (a kind I buy all the time) and it was first time using it but idk if the blade was messed up or something because when I shaved on the armpit pictures I felt it snag or cut a bunch of hairs I was like fuck Im gonna get ingrown hairs (I have sensitive skin and if I don't use a good shaving cream/oil or try to shave really fast I get ingrown hairs but nothing like HS just normal ones) honestly now I can't remember if I shaved my legs or pits first (im sure I would have logically don't my pit first but I just can't remember) but I didn't even shave that whole thigh with the abscess just the knee and calf. the next morning I had little bumps/looked like irritated hair pictured in day 1 photo. and it just got worse and worse till I realized it was not normal.

-I went to hospital the night of the 5th day bc they were getting super painful and I was walking around all day with my arm slightly raised due to swelling and pain when it touched . I was put in a bed immediately (it was very empty) nurse looked it over dr came saw me within 5 min examined it visually and physically and told me he's going to ultrasound them to see if there Is fluid that needs to be drained. the nurse brought me a dose of antibiotics, a Norco pain pill, and a torodol shot(?). he came back when she was done did the ultrasound and said only 1 needed to be drained and pointed to one of the ones that wasn't as swollen and hadn't been the most painful. I asked if he could check the one beside my skin tag because it was soft (like fluid) had been causing me the most pain that day and he said he would have been able to see if there was fluid in it.

-he numbed and lanced the one he mentioned and a lot of blood and pus poured out but I was worried he might have not inspected and/or cleaned out the inside of the cut enough. he didn't pack it . they put gauze out the outside and wrapped it to my shoulder.i was discharged within 1.5hrs of arriving and was complimenting how efficient they were

-I felt lied to bc within 20 minutes of leaving (im assuming from the pressure of the wrap?) I looked and the one I asked him to check again that had been painful popped and it had like green/white pus coming out and a pretty decent amount came out when I applied light pressure

-worried bc I read not to pop or squeeze yourself or infection could deepen so I left it alone but got scared when I took wrap off and my pit had like tripled in size (top right pic) pain and swelling increased and I went back to same hospital the next night

- that dr said I had MRSA even tho no cultures were taken, didn't touch/examine them except visually . said if we just made a bunch of incisions It would only cause it to spread. looked at who I saw last night and said he knows what he was talking about and told me to just get the bactrim first and Keflex when I could. gave me ibuprofen and discharged me. I was there max 15 min .

-well swelling and pain just kept getting worse an worse and they were all soft at this point so I was sure if I went somewhere else I would get help . So I went to a 3rd hospital trip 3 days in a row . Seen very fast again doctor comes in and looks at it and touched the large area up top (the outer edges of the lump were very hard but the heads were extremely soft) he said they werent drainable because they were hard as rock and only blood would come out . I said they're soft in the center and are you sure bc I was told on the one that was lanced had fluid and right after another one popped all on its own he said yes he was sure. I asked about the ones on lower half (bc he didn't even touch those) he said those don't even look ready just visually I said thats what the one he lanced resembled I said it was very small not as raised and he asked if anything came out and I informed him a big mixture of pus and blood came out...he still didn't feel the lower ones. at this point im crying bc I am in so much pain and I just felt helpless bc I can't take care of this alone and I felt like they didn't want to deal with it and/or just didn't care if I was ok. I also felt lied to since I kept being told they either didn't have fluid or couldn't/wouldnt drain but yet they kept draining and showed all signs of possibly containing fluid. I asked/begged him to do another ultrasound just to confirm there was no fluid.

he said he wasn't able to do ultrasound and that they normally don't do that for these that he couldn't believe they did at the first hospital. This time I got 2 Motrin and sent on my way in agonizing pain still with no help.

exprienced fatigue that whole day and fell asleep as soon as I got in bed woke up in the morning and when I went to look at it in the mirror I put light pressure to feel the top ones to see if they were soft or hard and one of the big top ones busted a lot of pus came out. I did feel relief at that release of pressure and since no one will help me I pushed the pocked with one finger to try to get out what I could without squeezing It hoping that would keep it from getting deeper.

while that one popped I guess that pressure caused the other beside it to pop and as I was just getting as much as I could out the one that had been lanced started oozing and then extremely large amounts of pus came out of that one. Are the connected ? I was wondering that based on how its those seperate heads but like one big lump up top under the skin. and how the pressure from poppuing one popped the others.

What should I do at home and how can I get someone to actually treat me ?!?!? or am I actually the one in the wrong one just overreacting . I don't feel like I am this is very scary to me but someone please tell me what this could be and what all I need to do,

I was given Vicks by a friend who said they would put it on their abscesses back in the day then tape gauze and leave it on I guess like a drawing salve and it will get it all out should I do that?

So I honestly don't even know what im dealing with here because cultures were never taken the one time they lanced one (right before top left pic) and never had any labs done. Also 1st hospital visit the nurse was like oh yeah those are accesses specific to women we see them all the time (after researching im assuming she means HS since it mainly affects women) but my 2nd trip the doctor (different doctor same er) came in and said I had MRSA and I looked confused and he said what no one told you??? like how have I not even been cultured/tested to even be given an accurate diagnosis?!?!?

Physician Responded Sleep, memory, cognitive help

Post image
106 Upvotes

45 years old, diagnosed with fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, OCD.

Take Celebrex, Cymbalta, Modafinil, Suboxone (recovering addict 5.5 years clean). I also take daily multivitamins and Vitamin D.

Hormone levels all normal.

No recent changes in meds or anything to explain what is happening.

Okay, so here is my issue. I'm just going to lay it all out. For the last 8 months, maybe more, I've been getting an average of 3 to 4 hours of sleep a night, spread out over the course of 8 hours.

I have no problem falling asleep, normally takes me about 10 minutes. But anywhere from 20 minutes to an hour later I suddenly find myself walking through the kitchen and going out onto the back deck. I don't remember getting out of bed or most of the trip downstairs. It's like I'm sleepwalking. I don't know what made me open my eyes and walk downstairs. Most nights, one of my kids will stick their head in the door and say "mom, you're sitting up"... I don't know why I sit up in the middle of sleeping. My assumption is that whatever is waking me up didn't get me fully awake. Usually in that situation I can just lay back down and immediately drift back off. But depending on how long I was sleeping like that I'm in a lot of pain the next day. Sometimes I sleep cross-legged with my forehead on the mattress in front of me for hours, just literally bent in half. It hurts so badly the next day.

That's issue #1.....

Issue #2 really complicates things. I have OCD, and it's been pretty bad recently. Now I have to do specific things before I can lay back down. I know it sounds crazy but I smoke and watch a couple videos on my phone. Then I feel like I can walk back upstairs and go to bed. If I don't do those things I will never ever get back to sleep. I would be at such a high state of agitation and stress and frustration for not completing my ritual. Oftentimes I fall asleep out there before I have a chance to make it back upstairs. I fall asleep sitting up in my chair bent over all the way, sometimes I lean too far and go forehead first into the deck, which is a very rude awakening.

I have taken sleeping pills many times, even when I take more than I'm supposed to it doesn't change anything. I still get up but I'm walking like I'm drunk and bumping into things and falling over.

Last week I had a sleep study done. They attached all these electrodes to me even my legs and monitored me all night. On one occasion they had to wake me up because I was sitting on the edge of the bed and they thought I was going to fall off. I did get up one time while I was there to go outside. At another point I had started to get to a seating position but fell asleep before I did and I slept leaning on my elbow for a while. And in the morning when they came to wake me up, yet again I was sitting cross legged, leaned forward with my forehead on my knees.

I was actually really happy about that though, because I thought now they can see it. Now they see that I'm doing this and they can tell me why.

They just called me and said- my diagnosis? I don't need a CPAP machine. And his recommendation? Stop getting up and going outside....

🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬

I said what is waking me up in the first place? They said I don't know, we were just testing to see if you needed a CPAP machine.

When I say that I have reached my limit? I HAVE REACHED MY LIMIT.

I am so exhausted all day long. I'm dizzy and lightheaded all day long. I find myself just zoned out staring at nothing all the time because I'm too tired to think. I don't nap during the day because I was trying to make sure I was tired enough at night. So I'd get up at 7:00 and go to bed at 11:00, no matter how much sleep I got the night before. I did that for months and now I don't care anymore. I'm going to nap when I want a nap because apparently it doesn't matter anyway.

My doctor said he was going to refer me to a neurologist, that's the next step. My psych doctor that treats my OCD is completely stumped. No one knows how to help me.

I'm so miserable and unhappy.

Thank you for letting me vent. Maybe this will reach someone who can help.

Edited to add- I have had lab work done a total of three times in the last year. The most recent results were just last week, only one thing came back abnormal, low iron. Hormone levels normal. Doctor says I'm approaching perimenopause but doesn't think I'm there yet.

And the most concerning issue that I'm dealing with right now is these feelings of disassociation and memory loss. I feel like I'm not really here, like I'm watching myself have a conversation with someone instead of being present in the moment. I always feel like I'm outside of my body, like I've taken a sedative.

And my memory issues are scary. I can't remember entire days. If someone were to tell me that we went out to dinner on Tuesday and watched a movie I would not be able to recall that information at all. Sometimes I wake up to comments on posts that I have no memory of making. It's like someone else posted it not me. Those memories aren't there it's just blank.

Physician Responded EXCRUCIATING lower abdomen pain when I cough

Post image
58 Upvotes

I’m recovering from a cold/flu (idk which one it was) by which involves tons of coughing + spitting out green mucus (gross but it adds detail). Yesterday I noticed a 10/10 SHARP pain right where I circled (just below my left abdomen where the abdomen lining ends) when I cough. Obviously I cannot stop coughing but this pain is extremely excruciating- I don’t really notice it when I don’t cough but it feels prominent? But when I cough, the pain is there and it feels like something is about to burst.

Around a month ago, I came off antibiotics (nitrofurantoin) for a suspected UTI- I couldn’t hold my pee, couldn’t make it to the bathroom in time + frequent urination. I took the course, and the symptoms reduced. A month later, I’m back to not being able to make it to the bathroom on time, but only by a slight margin this time. I had an ultrasound a month ago and it was clear apart from mild fatty liver which is on the right. The pain feels like part of my left abdomen + left ovary (but the left ovary was normal, my right ovary was the one that couldn’t be seen due to bowel gas). Realistically, if I go back to my GP, what will they do for me? I’ve already had an ultrasound.

Should I go to the doctor/GP?

Hi everyone. I finally got my seropositive RA diagnosis about a week ago. Ever since I started developing RA symptoms, I’ve had this facial rash.
It is honestly embarrassing. The white bumps on my skin are not all pimples, a lot of them are like…blisters?? Sometimes they’re present sometimes they’re not. The rash doesn’t really hurt too much. It does get really hot sometimes though. It’s ALWAYS there though and never goes away. I was just wondering if anyone who has RA has this rash. Thank you for reading pls be kind ❤️

Physician Responded Got hit by a car like 5 hours ago, unsure whether to get checked out or not

25M, this wasn’t on my bingo card for today. I usually go out for walks around sunset every day, today was no different except around 7:30 I was accidentally hit by a car. He was turning right going about 20km/hr, there were some kids about to cross and he wanted to turn before they entered the road. Not realizing I was already crossing, the driver got me pretty good. As he was turning I was almost at the end of the road when I clipped the front/side of his car and went over and down. I can’t remember most of it, I went from listening to music to suddenly being on the ground, but I’m confident I caught myself well with my hands and didn’t if not barely hit my head. Besides being scraped up, my left shin having a few raised bumps, and my left ass cheek being very sore I feel 100% fine. I’ve done some reading online and all of that AI nonsense is saying serious symptoms can develop much later if there are any? Is it worth getting checked out tomorrow to make sure I’m alright? This has been stressing me out I have pretty bad anxiety too which doesn’t help. Thanks

Physician Responded What do you think? Should I get it checked?

Female, 40s, clumsy (can we put this down as a medical condition?)… fought a door and the door won. It shaved the skin, it is another way to lose weight tho… wouldn’t recommend it. Should I have this checked? I don’t have insurance. I cleaned the wound, put betadine and patched it. If you wonder “why was she wearing flip flops?” - because I have a bursitis on the 5th metatarsal (go me!) and these are the only shoes I can walk around without pain. I should play the lottery, is bound to hit me (like a brick, maybe)

46m 5’9” 180 lbs., currently taking hydroxychloroquine 400mg/day for mild lupus with no organ involvement, plus finasteride 1.2mg/day and minoxidil 3mg/day for hair loss. I’ve had this lesion in my armpit for about a week, at first I thought it was a pimple and tried to pop it like an idiot, then I saw that it was getting worse so I started taking pictures of it. It doesn’t really hurt, I sweat pretty profusely though and I just googled pictures of staph and/or mrsa and now I’m kinda worried

Daily diarrhea poop upwards of 6 times a day lost 15 lbs and HAIR FALLING OUT NSFW

okay this is a lot but please help! I have consistently weighed 125lbs for the last 5 years or longer. I have also struggled with what I imagine is some form of IBS because shitting liquid is normal for me.

Anyways I randomly lost 15 pounds a couple months ago in a couple weeks. Since then have been absolutely loving my body want to lose a bit more because I have never been able to lose weight and then it literally just melted right off of me.

It has stayed off which is great. Lost a couple more pounds. And now my hair is falling out. I don’t think my weight is too low but I am very unhappy with the hair loss. You can see my scalp when I pull my hair up.

So to reiterate I am very happy with the weight loss not happy about the hair loss. Can I keep the bod and the hair? F22

Okay, I’ve started walking again now that it’s getting cooler out. I’d say I’ve been back to it for about a month. In the beginning, I got this blister at the top of my toe, but it’s now turned into this weird hard white skin. What is this? A callous?? I have never had one so I don’t know. I also don’t get pedicures done, I do my own nails so I know it’s not anything from that. Please let me know what it is and what I can do to get rid of it.

31F, PCOS and mild asthma, from Kentucky.

I fell off my horse recently (hence the pelvic fracture) and the ER found a 12mm nodule in my left upper lung. Pulmonologist ordered PET scans which found the nodule to be hypermetabolic (SUVmax 4.2) as well as mediastinal and left hilar lymph nodes (3 nodes total, SUVmax 7).

I’ve never smoked, have no respiratory symptoms, blood work from the ER was all good. No family history of lung cancer.

The pulmonologist seemed very shocked by the PET and said there’s a 55% chance it’s malignant. Other benign possibilities he mentioned are histoplasmosis or sarcoidosis. I have an EBUS biopsy scheduled for November 4th.

My questions: 1. Should I push to have the biopsy done sooner than Nov 4th somewhere else? 2. I know next gen sequencing is important if it’s lung cancer - is that something they will automatically do with the biopsy if it is cancer or do I need to request it?

I’m trying to hold onto hope that maybe it’s histoplasmosis related given the “flip flop fungus” sign and the fact I am around horses/work in dust and dirt a lot particularly around birds. Am I being too optimistic?

33 FTM, 165, 5'5. On methyphenedate, fluoxitine and unfortunately about 2-3 drinks a night. Up to 5 on some nights.

Today I threw up in the sink. My meals were 2 small McDonald's fries and a happy meal burger w/lettuce extra onion, extra patt. This was at 12 pm for me. 13 hours ago. The quinoa meal and the explosion happened right before I wanted to organize them. Went over terribly offa vibes

I had one 24 Oz beer and maybe 3 glasses of wine starting around 6 pm. After making a dish and trying a very small amount, i realizes I may be allergic to the octopus... and for soo as a cout leader seems it it is okay

Pink-tinged fluid, some red, draining from ear infection?

I am F20, 5’8, taking doxycycline , tylenol, some prescribed cough medicine (idr name and dont have the bottle on hand atm). non-smoker (never have/never will)

Got sick saturday, fever, sore throat, headache, went to a doctor on tuesday, tested for strep A and flu, negative on both, doctor said probably just some like virus, keep taking tylenol for pain. fast forward to that night, i sleep for about an hour and wake up in severe ear pain (inside not outside) take some ibuprofen to make it through the night, see a doctor wednesday because it still hurts, i feel some liquid inside and hear a noise that sounds like theres liquid inside. doctor looks in ear and says yeah its a bit red, prescribes doxycycline and the cough medicine for my cough. now tonight i cant sleep because it REALLY starts hurting, i start off and on hearing like pulsing tv static type noise and like gurgling bubbly sounds and it realllyyy hurts like i start crying from the pain, liquid starts draining from ear slowly, its like faintly pink but kinda light orangish in color, i take some tylenol so i can sleep… wake up again a few hours later, doesnt hurt rn i assume from the tylenol? i took 1000mg of it. but my ear is a bit wet feeling so i dab it a bit with a tissue and its pinkish and then theres some full on red-pink fluid… is this blood? should i be concerned? should i see a doctor tomorrow morning? laying down panicking ngl. i keep hearing the pulsing sloshy staticky sound. i googled about this and it says my eardrum ruptured and i need to see urgent care but i dont want to blindly trust google so some actual medical professional opinions on this would be much appreciated.

Autistic daughter having severe tics and involuntary movements at 7 years old.

Hello,

My daughter is 7 years old. About 60 lbs. She is diagnosed with autism, ADHD, and sleep disorder. She is non-verbal. She has taken clonidine 0.1 mg for sleep since 3 years old and guanfacine 1 mg at 4 years old for ADHD. She can be a bit aggressive, but the help the medicines give outweighs the aggression. She is on Medicaid, and this summer they apparently had a problem with this combination of medicines being given and no longer wanted to cover both meds. Medicaid has drastically changed my daughter’s life by making this an issue. I was forced to put her on cyproheptadine because they would no longer cover clonidine along with continuing the guanfacine, and at first, it was great, but after she began weird movements with her head and eyes. The doctor immediately took her off and put her back on clonidine (which the doctor’s office had to fight with Medicaid to get them to cover the guanfacine and clonidine combination because so many of their patients are on it), the same dose also, but the head jerking has gotten worse, but no longer any strange eye movements, and I’m noticing different tics that are getting stronger. She will begin to cry like she is in pain because she can’t stop these movements. It even happens in her sleep, and she will wake up. Her doctor just increased the clonidine dose, but that’s been a nightmare and seems to make it even worse. Once again, Medicaid changed her insurance, so she can’t see the neurologist until next month. I feel like I’m being dismissed and really don’t know what to do. It’s super frustrating and heartbreaking. I’m going to get in contact with a neuropsychiatrist she used to see, and hopefully, they will be of more help than the neurologist. Has any medical professional have any advice or recommendations?

[21] help scared of getting pregnant

I am 5’2, 80kg and a female.

scared of getting pregnant help

Hello, I’m scared of getting pregnant. A few days ago, I had sex, but we used a condom. However, after he ejaculated, I noticed that some of the semen had leaked onto his shaft. We took a break for about five minutes, and then I touched his penis again and gave him a handjob and a blowjob.

edit\* Then we used another condom. After that, I touched the condom without washing my hands, and I started worrying that there might have been semen on my hands. He washed his penis and the condom before putting it back in for round two.
I’m just really worried that there might still be a chance of getting pregnant. 😣😣 I don’t know what to feel or what to do. I’m so scared because this is my first time having sex again in three years. huhuhu 😭

Exhausted and Confused

27 years old, Female, 5’9”, with (all diagnosed, but not sure how accurate) EDS, POTS, autism, ADHD, anxiety and depression.

Medications and supplements:
Sertraline: 100 mg every morning
Ivabradine: 5 mg every morning and evening
Vitamin D3: 100 µg every morning
Vitamin K2 (MK-7): 100 µg every morning

Hi everyone, I’m posting because I’ve been struggling with several symptoms lately, and I’m feeling confused and unsure about what to do next.

My nails are brittle, have lines running through them, and break all the time. I’m also constantly fatigued, struggling with my memory, and experiencing brain fog and confusion.

On top of the physical symptoms, I often feel like an outcast to people around me. I could cry.

I’m not sure whether the fatigue, brittle nails, memory problems and brain fog could be related to a nutritional deficiency, my existing conditions, my medication, or something else entirely.

Has anyone experienced anything similar or has any thoughts?

Off meds for 11 days, focal symptoms for 2 days.

If I eventually have a generalised seizure should I go to hospital or would you still see that as wasting resources/time?

Spinal TB surgery 2 years ago, still having pain and stiffness Will I ever be able to bend normally again?

Hi everyone,

I'm a 24-year-old woman, and I'm looking for advice from people who have experienced something similar.

I had spinal tuberculosis (Pott's spine) and underwent spinal surgery around 2 years ago. I completed my TB treatment, but I still experience back pain and stiffness.

I can walk normally, but the stiffness sometimes occurs when I wake up, get up from bed, or stand for long periods doing household work.

recently had an MRI. The report mentions:

Screws and rods at D10–L1 from my previous surgery.

Changes at D11–D12, including mild anterior wedging of D11.

Mild disc bulging at L4–L5 and L5–S1.

No evidence of residual discitis or abscess.

Normal spinal cord signals.

I also had an X-ray showing the screws and rods.

I'd really appreciate hearing from anyone who has had spinal TB surgery:

Did your pain and stiffness improve even after 2 years?

Were you able to bend forward or sit on the floor again after surgery?

Did physiotherapy help you regain flexibility?

Did your doctor restrict bending permanently, and if so, why?

Were you able to lead a normal married life after recovery?

I'm not looking for a diagnosis online I just want to hear about other people's experiences and learn from those who have been through something similar.

Thank you for taking the time to read my post
