The article talks about two more bills that Young is still holding: a bike lane for 16th street and a red light camera for 22nd & Ben Franklin Pkwy.

Harassed by Waymo Driver

Most just need to rant. Yesterday I was riding my bike in Center City, completely legally, but I was on a sharrow, which I'll now avoid in the future (I just got my bike here last weekend). I was stopped at a light when someone driving one of those blue Waymo vans yelled at me to "get off the road" and "learn how to ride a bike, I'll teach you." I told him to f*ck off and he just laughed at me. He kept going and didn't stop yelling stuff until I just left and turned down another street. I know drivers can get mad at cyclists but this honestly got me shaken up!! Especially by someone who I'm assuming was "working" (stupid ass job if you ask me).

We aren’t blocking traffic. We are traffic!

Critical Mass Philly is anti-racism, anti-ableism, anti-transphobia, anti-sexism, anti-ai. Also, ACAB.

Spring Garden St. Bridge Bike Lane

Hi all, those of you who cycle the Spring Garden Bridge know how horrible the condition of the road and bike lanes are. Not to mention how dangerous it is since the cars drive so fast after getting off I-76. If you can, please email [otis@phila.gov](mailto:otis@phila.gov) and [philly311@phila.gov](mailto:philly311@phila.gov) regarding the installation of plastic posts or even redesigning the road to have more protected bike lanes! It should not be unnecessarily dangerous for those of us who are just trying to commute to our jobs/school!

Question “New” bike lane location on 34th between Walnut and Spruce?

The city recently repaved 34th street between Walnut and Spruce, yay! It really needed it.

However, when they re-painted the lanes, the bike lane was moved from its existing position on the right hand side of 34th to the left hand side of 34th.

As of right now, this is the only section of 34th st where the bike lane is on the left. This makes sense for the intersection at Walnut where traffic cannot turn to the left to have the bike lane on the left. It makes the intersection safer for us cyclists to not have to navigate going straight amongst a sea of angry and often impatient drivers trying to turn right.

BUT. Both north and south of this 1 block, the bike lane is still on the right hand side. This makes the intersection at 34th and Spruce more dangerous, because not only do cyclists have to deal with drivers turning left on spruce, but now also have to navigate back over to the right hand side where the bike lane is as 34th becomes Civic Center Blvd. It is also sketchy now to navigate 2-3 lanes of traffic in the stretch of 34th from Chestnut to Walnut to make it from the bike lane on the right hand side to the bike lane on the left.

Surely they don’t plan to leave it like this, right? Does anyone know what the plans are for this? I tried searching PBA and Vision Zero’s websites but only could come up with details for the new Market St bike lanes in the area.

In the comments, it looks like the bus driver is justifying her driving. I’ll post it in the first comment.

Full SRT link?

Does anyone have a link to a ride with GPS route that covers the full SRT -- Pottsville to Philly. Planning a tour, and I can't seem to find this route in RidewithGPS.

I seem to remember some news articles that said the trail was mostly done, but I'm not sure if there are road segments (thus the need for the GPS route)

Bike Stolen I feel regret my bike got stolen

Moved to Philly a few months ago and bought a u-lock that I’ve been using. A few days ago I lost the keys for the u-lock and just have been using my old cable lock thinking “I’ll just buy another key/lock soon.” Less than a week later whole bike completely stolen. I feel regret I procrastinated this thing and it cost me the bike I love to bits. Just wanna put that out here 💔

I have to recommend making the drive out to Phoenixville

I didn’t get as many photos as I would have liked to, but this loop was absolutely incredible. Getting out there early in the morning makes the drive easy, and the roads remind me of cycling in Europe. Beautiful farms, quiet countryside roads, and fun climbs. Highly recommend to anyone getting bored of the MLK/SRT loops

Edit: figured out how to share the loop hopefully: https://www.komoot.com/tour/3338943142?ref=itd&share_token=anSINVVKKng2jmLml1QypK4CCuGB5cxz774dSmhf738fcSBbrY&ref=its&t_s=referral&t_cid=route_share&t_ref_username=5230098273129

Question Trek Manayunk experience?

Basically looking for a gut check. After mostly good maintenance experiences with my used Trek from 2019 to 2025, I bought a brand new, my first ever, new bike from them last year.

Bike arrived with a problem, and has been nothing but issues since. Every repair takes 3x as long and costs 2x as much they tell me, nothing is under warranty, every piece of equipment needed is $50 more than quoted and whoops, we forgot to mention the labor and install cost.

Is this bike shop one more thing enshittified in 2026, or have I just had a bad run of luck and I'm getting quietly and unjustifiably annoyed at people who just sometimes accidentally quote a pre-inflation price? I am really looking for an excuse to NOT get a new bike store, but I also commute and can't keep losing my vehicle for a week at a time.

Wednesday Night Rides // Oct 14 // Southwest Bikeways

Post image
44 Upvotes

This week's ride will show off some of the best riding and infrastructure in Southwest Philly.  Heading out from Malcolm X Park, we'll explore how to link to the new Cobbs Creek Trail extension and Island Ave sidepath.  Then we'll loop back to Local 44 Restaurant & Bar by way of neighborhood streets.  We'll be riding along the Cobbs Creek Trail after sunset, and it will be dark so lights are essential for this ride - preferably lights bright enough to see with, not just be seen.  If you need lights, hit up your local bike shop.  We'll also have copies of the WNR Zine for sale/pickup at the ride start and end points.

Start: Malcolm X Park (51st and Pine)

Time: Meet at 7pm, roll at 7:10pm

End: Local 44 Restaurant & Bar (4333 Spruce St)

Length: 10.4 mi (one moderate hill on the Cobbs Creek Trail)

Level of difficulty: Standard

Route: Ride with GPS / Komoot / .GPX download / Live Tracker

Philadelphia Cycling Classic Artwork

Hi All, I volunteered for the cycling classic back in August and was unable to make my way over to the spectator areas. I'm searching for any art prints that were made for the event. Can anyone point me in the right direction? I've checked local shops, nothing. Thank you.

east market bike lanes

woa, when did that happen?

I bike up to CC probably 3 times a month from Kensington. I basically go up 12th, hit RTM and a grocery or clothing store on chestnut/walnut, and come back on 13th. so I haven't gone east of 11th in a year or so aside from taking the subway, but I guess im always walking with someone (and at night) when I do that so I never noticed the new bike infrastructure.

seems like a good job. I went east to the end of market and then turned around to get back to 11th just to try both sides out. only thing I'd say is some of the curb cuts are weird, like for instance going east at 5th, they put the curb cut on Market, so you have to veer into traffic for a second before you can get back into the bike lane. might have happened 1-2 more times too, can't recall specifically. but overall its nice, did not expect that. also can't believe they actually redid the cobblestones near 2nd street too, and put paint on them for the road lines! was not expecting all that.

Almost run me over and then tries to arrest me? Man does PPD suck.

Cycling on the north side of market is rough in general but today was a highlight for me. Cop almost runs me over at 12th and brown (dedicated bike line) because he didn't want to ride on the rougher car lane which has potholes due to the trolley tracks. When I put my hand up as he passes within a foot of me he stops down the block, gets out, stops me, and starts asking me where my license plate is....

Whoever was driving this loud little delivery car for Puglia Pizza ran me off the road on Federal St today. Almost ran me over.

Drove right up on my ass as I was going a decent clip down Federal. Then edged around me forcing me to the side. I moved over because I didn't want to die. Extremely stupid and dangerous to save a few seconds, if that, getting to the next stop sign. Screw these guys. Absolutely never giving them my money. (You can't see who's driving because the front windshield is tinted totally black.)
