Read This Before You Submit !

If you want to get the best possible outcome from posting your position on this /sub, there are a couple of things you can do to help,

  1. Make your video at least 30-40 secs long [ no longer than 60 secs ] This will allow you to settle in to your pedal stroke and give viewers enough time to 'look around' your position.
  2. Post a minimum of 2 angles. #1 Seat height, showing the entire bike and rider from the top of the head to the bottom of the pedal stroke. #2 from the front dead center about head tube height. If you shoot a vertical format on your phone that might help you fit yourself within the frame. #3 from the rear, at seat height, can also be vertical format for cropping.
  3. Post a shot of your bike side on without you on it. This lets people see the 'build' as far as seatpost seatback, seat rail position & headset spacers

The more visual and information you give the better the possibility of good feedback.

Ride on!

Dear mods, save this sub

There are a lot of generous and knowledgeable people here giving thoughtful bike-fit advice for free. Their effort is being undermined by a steady stream of unusable videos showing riders leaning against walls, doorframes or furniture while pedalling backwards.

Those clips don’t show a normal pedal stroke, balance, loading, posture or movement under realistic riding conditions. There’s very little anyone can assess from them, yet they keep filling the sub and drawing attention away from posts where useful feedback is actually possible.

The existing submission guidance is already clear about video length, camera angles and showing the whole rider and bike. It should also explicitly require riders to pedal forwards on a trainer or rollers, without supporting themselves against anything.

Please make “no backwards pedalling and no leaning against objects” an actual submission rule, and remove posts that ignore it.

The people giving detailed advice here are what make the sub useful. Their time shouldn’t be choked by videos that make meaningful assessment impossible.

I use myvelofit to get things as close to ideal. I tend to have pretty tight/sore muscles between my shoulder blades after rides (on all my bikes) which I assume comes from the forward weight I am putting on my arms and my reach. I have my saddle almost all the way forward here to keep reach minimal and my knees over the spindle. Anything worthwhile to note adjusting that can address the tightness between shoulder blades? Stem is 90mm, zero setback seat post, crank arms are 160, Frame is 51, I'm 5'6".

When im on the drop handles it feels like there more pressure on my hands. Not sure if that’s a bike or core issue.

Someone mentioned to me that maybe I need a slight shorter stem to bring the bars closer so there’s less reach

Bike is 60cm, posted a less zoomed in version in comments

Sizing Questions

I'm 190.5cm (6'3") tall with a 91.5cm (36") inseam, with relatively short arms for my height. This unfortunately has led to a problems trying to find the right size bike for me, especially when looking into cheaper/intro level bikes.

I've ended up between the Scott Gravel 20 XL, or the Topstone 2 XL. The Scott is a 59cm frame, while the Topstone is a 61. Overall the Scott felt better, and that's what I'm riding in th clip; I would love feedback on how it looks. I'm not entirely sure how a good fitting bike is supposed to 'feel'.

First road bike, already got a decent seat for the sit bones. Seat too high, too low? Bike size okay?

Vintage Bike Fit, Is my frame too big

Hello Guys Long Time enjoyer, First Time Poster here and I’d like a bit of help figuring out how I look on this bike and what some of the better minds think. I Have 2 Bikes Currently, My First Purchase and my baby, my Standish Jaguar sx10 and secondly my beloved Raleigh Record Sprint both in 64cm I myself measure in at 189cm without shoes and easily 192cm with shoes on depending on what shoe, I have plans on upgrading both with 105 r7000 groupsets but if the majority suggests they’re not fit for me then I have no issue selling and picking up something else. I also really dislike that stem on the Record sprint and much prefer riding with a stem like the one on the Standish which has a negative stem so that’ll definitely be first upgrade if I decide to keep, I’ve never really had any discomfort from riding either a little bit of lower quad pain but only when pushing hard apart from that they’ve both rode very well, have rode them for 10kms+ multiple times and have enjoyed, any help is appreciated

Sizing bianchi oltre comp

Hello!
I’m torn between 55 and 57,
I’m just on the sizing chart on the low end 57 because of the inseam.

182, 80kg, 85 inseam (barefooted). I don’t have long arms but I like being in a aggressive position on the bike. Just had a Checkpoint SL5 gen3 in M and added an 110 stem. Reach was good, seatpost was quite far up, but geometry-wise it wasn’t aggressive enough.

Tried the 55, it was ok - but I only had one cm of seatpost left before it hit the limit.

What do u guys think?
For info the 55 has 300mm post and 57 350mm - so I can just order a new seatpost and not cut down the fork so its easier to adjust to the 55 I think.

Hey everyone! I’m 172 cm tall and riding a size 51 frame. I really love the bike and feel comfortable on it, with no pain or complaints so far. I’m just curious to hear your thoughts on my fit and whether you notice anything I could improve. Any feedback or suggestions are welcome! :)

Is this bike to big?

Hello, thanks for viewing! Last time I did a bike fit I got charged £250 due to adjustments needed so trying a different hopefully cheaper option. Do you think I need a smaller bike or lower seat different handle bars? I am 5ft 10 and it’s a medium/ large frame. I really like the bike but getting a sore back day after riding which I could do without . It’s had a jump seat(don’t really use ) and wide handle bars fitted. Wondering if I should just sell and go for medium or stick with it and make some changes. Thanks again for any help!

Post bike fit issues

Had a professional bike fitting back in July due to knee pain issues and this is the resulting posture. But since the fit, I've had a mild hamstring strain and that (left) leg has not been the same (very tight despite stretching multiple times a day, etc.) Knee is okay. I'm back to full power. I'm doing exercises to fix my weak glutes/hips. But I'm wondering if there's something else I'm missing -- or should I just crack on with the strength training? AI thinks the handlebars are too long/low.

New bike new size

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

For the first time I’ve opted for a size xl mtb. I am usually a size L but after reading and watching many reviews of canyon’s new lux trail cf 9 I chose the bigger model.

I think that ideally I would ride a bike right in between the two sizes with a reach of 485-ish, but I ended up getting the bigger bike as I felt a bit cramped on the size Large.

How do you think it fits?

Hi Guys, I get knee pain when pedaling on the harder side, on the trainer it is worse than on the road.

Claude says sattle to low, Gemini to high.

What do you think?

Hi. Any feed back appreciated. I’m 5’2. This bike is a 49.

Issues: my hands get numb. I started having right knee pain below my patella while peddling. Pelvic pain. I also feel really stretched when I’m on the hoods.

Also. I’m super new to road biking. I use to ride on my trek marlin size small.

I’m am just concerned that this might be too big? I’m still on the window of returning it.

Thank you.

Brake lever angle: default starting point?

Post image
2 Upvotes

My levers are at a comfortable angle for me, but when on a ride the other day I got to talking to someone that noticed them at a water break and started yapping about how I am going to hurt my wrists, etc. He said the "default starting point" is for them straight ahead from the bars. Where are yours in relation to mine, up or down, and what are your thoughts on a default starting point?

Knee angle and bikefit

Hi,

I am wondering what is your knee angle and what crank arm are people using following their bikefit?

Currently had a bikefit and the knee angle is 141. The information online is pretty vague. Some research says between 145-155 knee angle and others says 140-145. While in the pro tour, like tadej is between 138-141 and on average pro tour rider around 141.

Just curious is this is the result of everyone changing to 165mm crank arm which allows people with a lower knee angle because of the crank making knee pain less than longer cranks.

For instance with 172.5mm, I was 145 angle but with 165mm, my knee angle is 141 and couldn’t tolerate the 145.

Fit check - tightness in traps after 1hr+

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I've had this bike for about six months and just started using an indoor trainer for the first time. My fit feels somewhat different on the trainer vs outdoor riding, but this feels like the best way to capture the video. I get some tightness in my traps/shoulders after about 1-1.5 hours of riding. Any feedback is appreciated.

EDIT: trap pain happens on outdoor rides. I haven't ridden enough trainer to feel it onset yet.

I’m sure there are some adjustments to be made. I’ve done lots of long rides, Ironman a few times, etc. no real pain apart from my right foot can fall asleep if I stay in the same position for a long time. Apologies if this angle isn’t helpful, but any suggestions for a fit would be helpful.
