The Carhartt Bike

This is my Charge Plug ss/fixie when they did their collab with Carhartt WIP. Apparently very few of them were made and even fewer of them made it to the USA, so when I saw this in my hometown several years ago, I had to scoop it up!

The frame is from the 90's, kinda like a downsized steel road frame with 26" wheels. As far as I know back then they made these in a now-closed factory about 10km from where we live. Works great as a single speed commuter/anything goes bike. It rolls on effortlessly with little that can break. I just love the simplicity. Recently painted the frame with metallic copper + glossy clear coat.

(riser or not)Post your ride with them below!

I have always have had a soft spot for alloy tubing and how responsive it is. The shake down ride was rad, first time with wide risers!

My SIR 9 single speed I built back in 2012.

It used to be setup with MTB tires, and I rode it in the Verdugo Hills and JPL trails regularly. I’m now mostly riding it on the road, and occasional trail, so I put these Maxxis Torch tires on it.

I rode in Ciclavia: The Heart of LA ride this weekend, and got quite a few compliments on it. I love this bike.

soo recently i changed the bars on my bike and now i hate these big ass break levers look like - i wanna find something smaller that doesn’t cost a fortune so i’m looking for sum recommendations

also i got cantilevers breaks on it and i heard that in general people prefer v-breaks - is it worth upgrading?

Just picked up this Atom bikes (Chelsea, Qc Canada) 1 of 1 custom “Frenchie” fixie in a size Large, frame was built by Dobermann fabrications (Aylmer, Qc Canada) & Atom bikes built all the bikes unique so no 2 were the same, using parts from their distributors, beautiful frame build by a Canadian legend, all for a crisp $400, do you think I got a good deal? Apparently these retailed for $1150 in 2010-2015

Broke a chain link for the first time.

Hello, in my few years of cycling experience I've never broken a chain so this is a first. My first bike didn't get as much riding as my second and third have. Still got my first single speed in storage, second bike which was my favorite unfortunately had to get rid of it. Jamis Beatnik that served me WELL cycling through the lovely crime ridden area that is North Little Rock/Little Rock AR. My third bike, which I got beginning of this spring is a Retrospec Harper that I got for a sweet deal. Anyways I'm in northwest Arkansas now and I cycle daily as well as in "all weather". I was watching some Izumi chain comparison videos from Gallardo and he used the term. I sorta thought every true cyclist rode in all weather but I digress. He says the standard Izumi Eco and the jet black and the super toughness all lasted him the same amount of time regardless. I'm trying to figure out what I need, I pedal hard on different terrain, mostly street and concrete but bumps, potholes, and the occasional curb jump seem to be hell on the chain I've had cuz it's fallen off a couple times coming off gnarly curbs. Also one day I was going over this super bumpy area where the streets so cracked it's basically one long split pothole and I went over it and for a second it felt like my drive train completely locked up. Almost ate shit over that one. Anyways, I'm just wondering if the standard eco will be what I need? Excuse my ignorance as well as non experience.

single speed conversion

Hi all, recently picked up myself a cheap classic Giant X-500 hybrid/commuter bike in the hopes of restoring it to its former glory. It needs a complete drive train overhaul and I've always loved single speed bikes so I've decided to try convert it a single speed bike, only issue is I've very little idea how to go about it. Would love some tips and any pointers in the general direction of what to look for. I'm looking for a cheap commuter so I'd like to keep my cost as minimal as possible. (fyi the bike has vertical dropouts).

Gusset Squire question

Does anyone know what the pin in the middle bottom of the picture is for? My previous squire didn't have it. I'm guessing it's to stop the tension from unwinding once set?
