Meta Last call for subreddit's logo entries!

Update:

Time and again people ask why does this subreddit not have a logo. When told that this community is largely apathetic towards the issue, evident by the lack of response to multiple requests/reminders in this regard, many folks don't really believe it and keep on asking to set something or anything as a logo, icon, dp, pfp or whatever.

Well, here's your chance to make it happen. Create and share what you wish to see as this subreddit's logo. The logo should be a 256x256 px JPG or PNG image and work well when printed in colour or B&W. Ideally, it should serve as an easy identifier when used as a placard for r/Lucknow meetups or other promotional purposes. Upload your creation to any image hosting site (e.g. Imgur, Imgbox, PostImages, etc. or even your own reddit profile) and post the direct image link as a top level comment in this thread or send it via modmail.

Please note that this is an entirely volunteer-driven activity where you come up with a logo only because you want your beloved community to have one and not because you expect anything in return. Any poll will always include a "None of the above (NOTA)" option for those who don't like any of the available logo choices or feel that r/Lucknow doesn't need a logo as such. Entries with a vote share lesser than NOTA will be eliminated from subsequent polls.

Fresh polls will be conducted as and when a bunch of newer logo options get accumulated. This section will track all the voting links / results until a logo wins the poll:

Poll #1: Voting over, results here.

Poll #2: Voting over, results here.

Poll #3: Voting over, results here.

Poll #4: TBA

(Original post)

Hello nawabs and begums of r/Lucknow,

This is in continuation to the previous announcement which was posted on the occasion of r/Lucknow's 11th birthday.

The topic of this subreddit's logo has been brought up multiple times in the past but there's been no progress and we remain logo-less. Now with 100K subscribers milestone just around the corner, it's high time to tackle this lingering issue once and for all.

As mentioned earlier, the logo should be of 256x256 px size and work well when printed in colour or B&W. Ideally, it should serve as an easy identifier when used as a placard for r/Lucknow meetups or other promotional purposes. Please upload your creation to any image hosting site (e.g. Imgur, Imgbox, etc. or even your own reddit profile) and post the direct image link as a top level comment in this thread or send it via modmail.

r/Lucknow has 97.4K subscribers at the time of writing this post. Once we cross 99K, a compiled list of all the relevant logo options received till then will be posted in a separate thread and put to vote for finalizing one. The selected choice will be set as logo at the time of r/Lucknow's 100K milestone announcement post.

Please note that this is an entirely volunteer-driven activity where you come up with a logo only because you want your beloved community to have one and not because you expect anything in return. The final voting will also include a NOTA option for those who like the way things are and don't feel the need for any logo as such.

Thank you!

Edit: Time is up. Thread is locked. Voting is live.

Edit 2: Voting over, results here. Thread unlocked for accepting more logo options by volunteers.

Edit 3: See the update section above.

So, I'm from Kanpur, 2 years back i got a medical college in Lucknow. Since then, everything changed for me.

In kanpur, i went through all sorts of stuff, depression, SA, Bullying, loneliness.

When i was moving into the city, I said "Lucknow, Please treat me right." And it did.

(Even tho one time i got SAed in Lucknow too but this time i had people to talk with, I had shoulders to cry on, and a support system)

Lucknow is such a beautiful city, the food is great, people are great, now whenever I'm home (like right now), I miss Lucknow. I've so many friends, I've a beautiful relationship, I'm finally happy, and i am so grateful to be in this city ❤️

So y'all Lucknow people, Thank you for this one amazing city, I'll be here for some more years and i don't know how I'll ever be able to leave this city.

Rant/Review Is Lucknow running out of kind people nowadays and instead filled with goons and miscreants trying to act tough wherever they can?

Recently I went out to Hazratganj Social on my 27th birthday, it was a weekend, only guys as all my girl friends are either out of Lucknow or couldn’t get out at night, at first they charged us 1500 per person cover charge which is fine but I have never heard a social asking to pay cover charge for stag entry at least in delhi or gurugram, then I went up and and enjoyed with friends and made a couple of new friends as well, met some people from Delhi, Mumbai and some french exchange students from IIM Lucknow.

The people who were from Lucknow were standoffish and stayed to themselves which I found kinda awkward but maybe that’s how people are here I thought.

Later when we were dancing there was a group of 3-4 girls dancing next to us and one girl literally fell on me while dancing (she was super drunk).

A female bouncer came to help her and dragged her to the side, which I appreciate a lot but as she had fallen onto me I was concerned and I went to the said female bouncer and asked her to get some water for her so she feels a bit better, and man did she go off on me, she started fighting me saying “tera kya lena dena” and “tu jaa yaha se mein dekh lungi” etc etc. which I found very offensive as I neither tried to hit on the girls nor did anything to make anyone uncomfortable, I just wanted to check in.

Later I went to the manager and talked to him and asked him to please address this concern and he assured me he would but I know nothing’s gonna happen, I have seen how rude people here get away without any consequences and yeah.

As I was waiting for my car in valet I saw that female bouncer standing outside and I wanted to talk to her about what had happened before and I approached her and instead of being open and listening to me she got defensive again and started arguing while I was just saying things like “if I am talking to you nicely the least you can do is try to talk nicely too” and “saare ladke aise hi hote hai mujhe pata hai” and then when I said I have already talked to the manager she got angry and said “chalo manager ke paas abhi baat karte hai” and to which i replied “karli baat aap chinta mat karo” and then she kinda ran away and disappeared instead of continuing our conversation 😭😭😭

Maybe it was just the fact that she was a bouncer but I felt horrible being talked to like this on my birthday especially when I did nothing wrong and was just concerned about someone’s wellbeing.

Tldr: Went to Hazratganj Social on my birthday and everything went great except one female bouncer who talked to me extremely rudely and wanted to get aggressive with me just because I asked her to get a drunk girl a glass of water who fell on me while dancing.

P.S. I was born and raised in Lucknow, have been here for 21 out of 27 years of my life, so I know how nice and kind Lucknow people usually are, that’s what took me aback.

Ask Lucknow Hotel recommendations in Lucknow for a family trip?

Hi everyone! 👋

We’re a Nepali family of four visiting Lucknow for 2 days, primarily for the amazing food and shopping. 😋🛍️

We’re looking for a clean, comfortable, reasonably priced hotel (not ultra-luxury or crazy expensive), ideally within walking distance of good malls, popular food joints, and restaurants.

Which area would you recommend staying in, and are there any specific hotels you’ve had a good experience with?

Would really appreciate your suggestions. Thanks in advance! ❤️

Ask Lucknow Running Places

So I picked up running to maintain my sanity. I live in Mahanagar and usually go to the Police Line near IT chauraha for my evening jog. Unfortunately that place will be shut for a week as some police stuff is on. Any suggestions for some alternate places I can try in the meanwhile? Roads are out of Q because bad foothpaths and kutte daudaate hain. Janeshwar sounds interesting but is a bit far. Just existing in Saumitra Van makes you feel like a third wheel. Any suggestions on KD singh stadium? have read about it in some previous post. Do I need any prior permissions or any special gear? Pls help your desperate fellow citizen. also, are there any running groups/communities around?

Edit: I went and checked. The stadium is out of bounds because apparently there are no coaches there and there needs to be a coach to let others around. I partially understand it because there are kids practicing there and having unknown adults around in a space like a stadium might not be ideal. Then I went to NBRI and we are not supposed to run there. Now Janeshwar is my only option. But it's really sad that there is so much chatter about Indians being unhealthy in general and having a lot of lifestyle diseases and then there are so few spaces for us to actually go out and exercise safely.

Rant/Review I’m so done with Lucknowi guys

So to give you all a bit of a context this is like the first time I’m properly exploring Lucknow on my own. I’m a photography enthusiast and I’ve been travelling across Lucknow trying to look for all sorts of places to click pictures off and i have gotten myself a proper mirrorless camera.

i was on one of my photowalks yesterday when i decided to go inside the Gomti riverfront park which is situated alongside the green corridor project are and i met these two guys who were there with a car and were chilling one of them called out to me in a rather rude way and asked me if i clicked pictures, i said no i don’t do this commercially and they started pestering me to click their pictures which i was obviously not comfortable with as they looked really shady and they were also kicking the dogs in the area just for fun. So yeah they took pictures in all sorts of stupid poses and they had iPhones with them and they put it your their ears to flex that they had one and then took another one with two iPhones in their hands. All this wasn’t exactly a problem, the real deal started when the whole photoshoot was done ( they wasted around 10 minutes on this btw )

One of the guys snatched the camera from my hand to view the pictures and asked me if i could send it to him right now- i said i needed a card reader to send it to him and for that ill have to go home first and then send it. He asked me till when i would get home and told me to send it as soon as possible. Since I was just roaming around I didn’t really have a fixed time to go home.

I was still outside when i got a call from him within half an hour asking for the pictures and then one more call after around 30 minutes, this guy legit kept on calling me the entire time after that- the photoshoot happened at around 5 pm and i continued getting calls from him till 11pm and i got one more this morning. I picked it up the first few times and I told him that ill send it when i get home but he continued to call me and even proceeded to ask for my location so that he could come and bring a laptop to me.

I GOT A TOTAL OF 37 CALLS FROM THESE IDIOTS THROUGHOUT THE DAY.

I genuinely don’t know what to do and I’m kinda scared that I’ll run into them one day, what the heck am i even supposed to do- this is like proper harassment. Im genuinely so done with the type of people that i come across here- especially the guys they’re insufferable and start picking a fight over the smallest reasons possible. There have been good interactions yes but the negative ones far outweigh the good ones, most people here are the Gawar swag crowd and its so sad, Lucknow is such a pretty place it truly deserves a better crowd.

Ill share their pictures if its okay with y’all.

There’s no entry fee, and the gallery opens around 11 AM. The staff mentioned that more paintings will be arriving soon, and they were genuinely sweet and welcoming. The place has a peaceful ambience to it. Definitely worth a visit if you have an inclination towards art and creativity!
