Anyone else go hiking with their huskies?
Here’s my best friend Obi-Wan on our fall hike that took us through Finnish/Swedish lapland and parts of Norway. Good times!

If you know of a husky that needs to be adopted, post about it here!
A few rules:

Took my husky mixed (husky/Klee Kai/Shiba) backpacking to Lake Mildred in the Sierras over the weekend, and to my surprise and dismay he was shivering and almost turned into a pupsicle. The weather was 20F with high winds so it was cold, but I figured he would be ok and so I didn’t bring anything for him to warm up; and, he was fine hiking in Mt Baldy when there was snow many times. Maybe he’s an LA husky and has lost his cold proof super power..and he does sunbath during summer heatwave.

Audrey has settled in quite well and thinks that she's in charge of all animals, including the 2 legged kinds. Her favorite thing, though, is getting treats. Did I mention her favorite thing is getting treats?

Baby boy Sven turned 1 today!! Had a little party at my parents house, so he got to celebrate with his grandparents, sister Daisy, his auntie, and his Uncle Timbre! (whose nose you can see in the second picture, lol.) Had puppy cake, puppy ice cream, and got to open presents! Here's to many more birthdays! 🎉🥳💖

this is my muttsky. according to her DNA test, she is 15 breeds, with Siberian Husky the biggest contributor by far at 28%.
she has 3 other breeds that are >10% contributors. care to guess what they might be in the comments?
if you guess correctly, i’ll laser-engrave you a custom dog tag with your pup’s face or paw print or whatever you want on it.
sure, but why?
ETA: i’ll definitely be reading/responding to questions and giving upvotes. but i’ll DM the winners to keep the game going as long as possible. :)

He loves kids and I finally brought one home for him
Adopted this boy 3 months ago. He was just turning 5 months old. He is now 8 months old. His little fringes around his ears puzzled me at first. Now the longer the rest of his coat grows I am figuring maybe he just has the wooly gene? Either way I'd like to do a DNA test if anybody has one they recommend. It doesn't really matter to me but I don't have an answer for people when they ask me if he is mixed with something. 😂 His name is Apollo 🫠

Does anyone else have a wave fighter? Mine loves the beach (first time) and the mountains. She always tries to bite waves, including pools.
I only let her do this for a few minutes and this is brackish water, but I'm still slightly concerned with the salt.

It's been a month and I'm still finding myself crying randomly sometimes so bad to the point my throat and chest hurt. I just want my dog back. We still love and miss you baby boy. RIP SnowBall.
Edit - reading all of your comments, every single one of you had beautiful gorgeous dogs and I think if we were all to meet in real life right now we would all need to give each other a hug, since we can't do that I'm offering all of you virtual hugs. I'm sure all of our dogs are playing together right now up there. Honestly I'm feeling motivated to do some sort of art project with the dogs on here that I see, so maybe you'll see your dogs drawn in the future!

We usually feed the dogs when we get home from work (after 5:00); I got home a little early and she did NOT understand why I wasn’t feeding her!!

Just posting to get this off my chest since I’m back in the office feeling like the worst dog owner ever. Long story short dark morning, tired stumbling start to a hump day during a long workweek, and I was lazy and left our gate open with my two coffee cups in hand rather than bending to put them both down to close the gate immediately behind me. I can open it holding the coffees but can’t close it as the latch is stubborn. Plan was to put them in my car 15 feet away then go back and shut the gate, which I then immediately forgot to do like an idiot.
Fast forward 30 minutes later and I’m a block from my office and get a call from my partner furious that the dogs are gone and I left the gate open. Knowing your dogs are lost is one of the worst feelings I’ve experienced and I’ve been thru a lot. We live on the corner of a very busy road and it was morning rush hour. Cue visions of the worst happening repeating full speed in my head.
Mix of nausea and panic on a street corner downtown debating what to do as I had a big morning meeting. When my head cleared in a moment I turned around to go home. Work is important but these are our babies and I didn’t care if work got mad I needed to get home to help look for them. Called my coworker to explain, go back on the commuter train home, then get a call from my partner a few stops later. Those few seconds of silence when I first picked up were absolutely gut wrenching since I was assuming the worst that one or both got hit by a car.
Miraculously, someone found them safe nearby and my partner was calling to say he was on his way to get them.
He’s furious at me, I’m furious at myself, and I still want to cry and throw up as I’m sitting at my work desk. Not sure why I’m posting here except I guess to say learn from my stupid mistake and don’t have a second of laziness if you know your huskies are escape artists and will bolt at any given chance. Please go easy on me this is my first time posting and I just feel so awful and stupid for making that mistake. Forever thankful for good samaritans who come across escaped dogs and help get them home.
EDIT: came home to two rambunctious, happy fluffy monsters and my husband organizing our garage. We recently moved and most of our stuff is in the garage. But now I can walk thru there to reach my car parked out front and make sure the automatic door is closed since it will be much more obvious as I back out of the driveway. No more messing with multiple gates and fussy latches. Got new collars with air tags as well and will look further into more robust trackers. Husband and I hugged for a long time and dogs are receiving extra snuggles tonight.
I was having a tough time this morning but am so grateful for the kind messages and support from this community. Huskies are a huge undertaking but gotta love this breed.
