Discussion Old pc in current gen

• Upvotes

My first time building a PC after I sold my Ps5.

Done with that greedy mfs and i simply wanna enjoy the good old games.

This is a very tight budget build that I can afford right now but I will upgrade one by one in future.

Spec :

Ryzen 3 3200g processor

8gb ddr4 ram

MSI A520M A PRO Motherboard

Bx500 500gb ssd + 500gb hdd both external like

Ant eSports Vsl400 psu

Normal cabinet

Maybe recommend some old games I can ride on 40fps. Also how well does pcsx2 run in it?

• Upvotes

I want to build a mid-tower Corsair 4000D with an AMD 9950X3D and a Noctua NH-D15 G2 Chromax.Black. Will the CPU be adequately cooled, or does this CPU always require a water-cooled AIO setup? Also, will a Thermal Grizzly AM5 Contact & Sealing Frame fit with the CPU block?

Build Upgrade Is my PC worth upgrading?

• Upvotes

My current build is a prebuilt, I'd like to upgrade eventually, I am in Canada and I am wondering if it is even worth it at the moment, and if it is, what is salvageable from the build?

I'd like to build my own now, the only thing I have replaced when I first bought it was the cpu cooler. Here is the full specs:

  • CPU: Intel Core i7-11700F Rocket Lake 2.5GHz (4.9GHz Turbo) 8-Core 16-Thread
  • GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Ti 8GB
  • Chipset: Intel B560
  • RAM: 16GB DDR4 3000MHz (2x8GB)
  • SSD: 1TB M.2 NVMe SSD
  • CPU Cooler: Air Noctua NH-u12s 120mm U Type Tower Cooler
  • PSU: 650W 80 Plus Gold (Brand May Vary)
  • Case: DEEPCOOL MATREXX 50 ADD-RGB 4F Mid-Tower Case 4x120mm ADD-RGB Fans, Full-size Tempered Glass Side And Front Panel

I am in Canada and I am getting a fair amount of money in March so i am willing to spend.

What should I upgrade? what should I keep? or should I start from scratch and sell this?

Miscellaneous Anyone else been using the same PSU for a while?

• Upvotes

The first PSU I bought for my first build 15 years ago is the same one I’m using today.

Anyone else have a PSU that just works forever?

It’s 1,000 watts so it still has no problem running everything I’ve ever thrown at it. Which has included top of the line GPUs (at the time those GPUs were purchased). They’ve died on me, Shit I had an SSD die on me before this tank gives out.

Build Help GPU for my current budget

• Upvotes

Currency: PHP (Philippine peso)

Budget: P15,000.00 or higher

Hi so I'm planning to buy a GPU for my pc, for context I'm using a Ryzen 7 5700g.

The main purpose of my build is for gaming like fps games and story driven open world games.

\-resident evil

\-valorant

\-league of legends

\-wuthering waves

For my options:

GTX 1660 Ti 6GB = P12,999.00

GTX 1660 super 6GB = P13,499.00

I'm also thinking about getting

RX 7600 8GB = P17,999.00

RTX 3050 6GB = P15 850.00

But honestly I don't think they are worth their price.

Note: this is what is currently available in the local computer shop near me and has a safe warranty when I buy.

Troubleshooting Overwatch Stuttering Came Back

• Upvotes

My game has always stuttered since I downloaded. About a week ago a friend told me to manually overclock my ram and to my surprise this fixed the issue entirely. I could open the game and load into a ranked match without problem and play a clean 180-240 consistently. I had some things to do a few days ago and left my pc during that time. I come back today and try to open overwatch expecting to be able to load into the game seamlessly just to be back at where I was a week ago. The game feels exactly the same before I overclocked my ram. I'm unable to play without stuttering and freezing at every fight, loading into matches, even just looking at cosmetics. I thought maybe my pc's ram got "un-overclocked" but all the settings are still the same, just the performance is much worse. I updated drivers, windows, lowered graphics, and tried optimizing pc settings none of which did anything for the performance of my game. Any idea what happened and how to fix it?

Troubleshooting HDMI cable blocked by case

I built this almost 2 years ago. I noticed that it looks like the HDMI cable isn't fully plugged in. I wanted to upgrade my monitor soon and use display port instead of HDMI. I'm worried that it won't fully connect based on how it looks currently. I read some other posts of this and a common fix is loosening the bracket screws to the GPU at the rear of the case and realigning it that way? As far as I know, the GPU is seated correctly and I have an anti-sag bracket in the front of it. Not sure what to do about this if anything? Like I said, I've been using this computer for almost 2 years without any major issues. Thanks for any advice with this

Edit: on mobile had issues with pics

Discussion Should I upgrade my GPU? Read post body

I’m currently running a 4060 8g and a 13th gen i7 with 64g ddr5, (I do a lot of modding that’s why the ram) am contemplating upgrading to a 4070ti super 16g.

I have two questions here.
1. How big of a difference will that jump make with the current setup?
2.is 850 usd a fair price? It was pulled from a prebuilt and never really used for gaming or editing … or mining for that matter so used yes but not really “used”

Build Help Stuck between Ryzen And Intel for the CPU and AMD and NVIDIA for the GPU

$29.99, ID-COOLING FROZN A620 PRO SE 58 CFM CPU Cooler Amazon

This is what I'm going with currently. Everything besides the CPU and GPU has been ordered. I'm mainly using it for gaming and schoolwork that isn't high-intensity, just normal docs, spreadsheets, etc. I want to play high-graphics games like Skyrim with mods, Cyberpunk, COD, Resident Evil, and a lot of triple-A titles. As the title said, I'm stuck between Ryzen and Intel for the CPU, and 9070XT and 5070Ti for the GPU. I was told the difference between the Intel 270k and Ryzen 7 7800X3D is negligible, and that the 9070XT is better in many games despite being about $300 cheaper. Any opinions?

Hello! Recently my computer was broken due to DHL's handling, (just waiting for my refund from them after parts that were damaged checked). and im looking to get a new case since my case (corsair 5000d airflow) is not being manufactured anymore. Im trying to look for cases that perform similarly to the corsair 5000d airflow but im not really familiar with the different case options right now. any suggestions? maybe some cases for down sizing? Thankfully I had brought the ram and GPU seperately, My gpu right now is the RX 7900 XTX, thank you to everyone in advance for your suggestions!

Build Upgrade Is it worth it to upgrade from 5600x to 5800x3d

Not looking to upgrade my mobo or ram right now.

But with my 9070gre, I am surprised how many games are CPU limited.

The 5800x3d is currently available for about $490 CAD ($350 USD). Is that worth the price?

Build Help First Gaming PC build, let me know any changes I need.

Hi. Ive been playing games and doing my daily things on my laptop, gtx1650 and I7-9750, about 16gb ram and I can barely play newer games on low. Even some oldish games aren't even really high. But I've finally saved up a good amount of money. Out of my savings I am going to put aside about 3k for this build. Now looking at post requirements I should give some more info.

  • Use-Case

High performance gaming along with being able to have tabs open playing music, because for some reason my games lag when I try putting music on in the background. I dont listen to music all of the time but when I do it's nice. I'm also big on just graphics, like minecraft shaders with raytracing, and modding games and adding shaders, like minecraft and open world games like Wuthering Waves which I can't even run on all low without drops in fps and lots of lag.

  • Country of purchase

United States

  • Peripherals needed

I just need the PC itself, I have a monitor, 185hz 2560x1440. Games sucked before I upgraded to a monitor too, so trying to have games at a matching resolution isn't something I can do for some games.

  • misc. requirements / preferences

Not really big on RGB but don't mind a bit. and I wanted to go for a white and black style. Also while I got 3k saved, if I can save a bit that would be great. I don't want to build a super computer, but I want something good, so I'm not against going up to 3k if I need to, but thats my max. I do have experience building if that needs to be said, but I'm not knowledgeable on components.

Heres a quick summary of my build made in microsoft word. Totals about to about $2,748.09. Used pcpartpicker for the prices so it probably isnt fully acurate.

CPU AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D $347.98
CPU cooler Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 SE ARGB $33.21
Motherboard MSI MAG B850 TOMAHAWK MAX WIFI II $259.99
RAM G.Skill Flare X5 32 GB (2 × 16 GB), DDR5-6000 CL36 $509.99
SSD WD Black SN850X 2 TB $429.99
Graphics card MSI Gaming Trio OC RTX 5070 12 GB $869.99
Case NZXT H6 Flow, white $79.99
Rear fan NZXT F120Q Quiet Airflow 120 mm, white $14.98
Power supply Corsair RM850e (2025), 850 W $72.99
Operating system Windows 11 Home retail USB $128.99

After some research this is what I came up with, but I need some second opinions, especially with the GPU. I hear it is good and it is a big upgrade from what I use but I want to build something I won't need to upgrade for a while. Since I do have a 1440 monitor I hear 12gb is fine but 16 sounds like something that is more future proof and will improve my build. Oh and do you guys think it'll be too much black or too much white? Or will this turn out to be a good balance?

I honestly got pretty unlucky with timing too, everything is so expensive. I could have saved like $400 on ram, RIP.

TLDR: 3k max budget, saving money preferred but will spend max for quality/performance. 1440p gaming, quality/performance with modern / modded games. Asking for thoughts on GPU or other components.

Peripherals Which monitor is "better" Oled 240hz or MiniLed 320hz

There are two monitors I am debating between:

Acer Nitro OLED 240hz or the Acer Nitro MiniLed 320hz

I know that oled provides better contract and colors, led has the better refresh rate, I'm not sure how to weigh the two in comparison.

I mostly play fighting games (guilty gear strive), team shooters (Overwatch and Marvel rivals, just casual), and am getting into mmos (Black Desert, FF14).

As a casual gamer, I'm assuming the OLED is better because the visuals are more important, is that the correct assumption?

My PC specs are as follows if it helps:

AMD Ryzen 7 8700F 2024

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060

16GB DDR5 Memory

Build Ready? First-ever gaming PC build (£1,344 UK) — Should I build it myself or buy a prebuilt instead?

Hi everyone!

I’m completely new to PC gaming and have spent the past few weeks learning about different components, how they work and what makes a good gaming PC.

I’ve finally put together my first build and would really appreciate some honest feedback before purchasing everything.

PCPartPicker: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/qGgyH3

My build:
CPU: Ryzen 5 9600X — £160.97

Cooler: Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 SE — £29.99

Motherboard: MSI PRO B840M-P WiFi 6E — £99.95

RAM: PNY Performance 16GB (2×8GB)
DDR5-5600 CL46 — £233.11

SSD: Kingston NV3 1TB NVMe — £129.97

GPU: PowerColor Reaper RX 9060 XT 16GB — £426.99

Case: NZXT H3 Flow — £48.89

PSU: MSI MAG A850GL 850W Gold — £89.99

Monitor: ASUS TUF Gaming 1080p 240Hz — £123.98

Total: £1,343.84 (including monitor)

My main goal is to achieve around 150+ FPS at 1080p competitive settings in games like Warzone. I’ll also be playing GTA, EA FC, Fortnite and other games.

I’ve chosen the AM5 platform because I’d like to upgrade my CPU and increase my RAM in the future without having to replace the entire system.

I’m aware DDR5 RAM prices are currently very high, which is why I’ve settled on 16GB for now.
I have three main questions:

Is this build good value for £1,344? Am I overspending on certain components, or could I get better performance for the money?

Would I be better off buying a prebuilt gaming PC instead? Given current component prices, is it possible to find a prebuilt with similar or better specifications for around the same price?

As someone who’s never built a PC before, what’s the best way to learn how to assemble everything correctly? I’ve watched a few tutorials, but I’d appreciate advice from people who’ve built their own PCs.
I’d ideally like this PC to last at least 3–4 years, with the option to upgrade components along the way.

Any recommendations or beginner tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Troubleshooting new pc build wont boot

so i recently purchased 7500x3d, gigabyte b650 and 32gb of kingston fury cl36 6000mts ram. im using my previous power supply and gpu (which 100% work as im using them right now to post this.) when i turned my pc on after building it, the fans would spin and the light for the ram and cpu cooler would turn on but it wouldnt actually boot so my motherboard, keyboard and mouse did not connect. and the red light in the corner of my motherboard was on dram. everything was plugged in correctly. so far tried reseating ram, only using one stick, moving them to different slots, using the bios flash thing with a usb (Yes it was formatted correctly) which just resulted in the fans spinning and stuff lighting up for a second before it all turned off, also tried resetting cmos battery, leaving the thing on for like 10 minutes to see if anything would happen, plugging monitor into the motherboard instead of gpu, unplugging usb devices, literally everything i could see online.

i wanted to know which component is the problem, im thinking the motherboard so i might buy a b850. the ram does not appear damaged

Miscellaneous Need a suitable UPS!

Hi! I just moved to a new home and the power grid here is horrendous. A minor downpour? power outage that lasts a couple seconds, but multiple times during it. a SEVERE thunderstorm? outages that last hours.

I did some research and I'm worried about my PC (its my baby) and I need to find a UPS that 1. works for my PC and 2. is reliable!

Not sure if this matters but I have a: i9-14900, 4070ti super, and a PSU of 750w.

Any recommendations/advice would help and mean a lot! thank you smart people <3
