Build/Battlestation Pics I bought a 3D printer for this

And I’m so happy I did. Shoutout to [u/](u/NextGen3D)[NexGen-3D](u/NextGen3D) for the amazing case design, magnificent work.

For the unfamiliar, this is a 6L case made specifically for the cryptomining-turned-Linux-powerhouse board known as the Asrock BC250. The board centers around a cut down version of the PS5 APU with 16GB GDDR6. Instead of 36cu GPU and 8 core CPU, the BC250 uses a 24cu GPU and 6 core GPU; that being said it is trivially easy to unlock many (not all) of the boards all the way up to 40cu GPU and 8 core CPU. You can even go so far to add an overclock if your cooling and silicon quality are up for it.

The boards are available on eBay for between $200-$300 these days. If I don’t count the start up costs of buying the 3D printer and only account for the cost of filament, the board, PSU, SSD, and accessories like usb adapters then I’m in to this for about $500 total.

Build/Battlestation Pics “Pearl” SGPC K39 Build

Just wanted to share my build in the K39, as there wasn’t much out there when I was doing research for my build!

Say hi to Pearl!

CPU: 5600x
GPU: Zotac 4060 Solo
PSU: Silverstone Flex 600W
RAM: 32GB DDR4 G.Skill
Mobo: Gigabyte AC 520i

CPU and GPU are undervolted as far I could go without diminishing returns, helps temps A TON in this small case, under full load CPU and GPU never exceed 65C. As well as keeping temps down helps with noise a ton, which isn’t that bad if you wear headphones.

On the topic of noise, I do recommend overspec on your PSU- I had the 400w at first but the fan was super loud because of the power draw, go with a bigger one (600W) and your ears will thank you…

I love this thing, it fits in a backpack and can easily be hauled around for lan parties or just gaming on the go. The mini WiFi antennas are a must as well to keep size compact.

Any other questions or suggestions to make it better are welcome, I’m all about maximizing performance in such a small package!

Build/Battlestation Pics Sharing progress I've made with my long running Node 202 project.

This started just over 2 years ago when I wanted to run an AIO in my 202 but wanted to take advantage of the wasted space available. It started as a proof of concept by making my own custom AIO where the fan and radiator is stacked on top of the AIO pump. Thermal performance was okay, unfortunately to get things to fit I had to do a lot of cutting on the fan housing to get the fan blades as close to the radiator fins as possible. Unfortunately the end result was still being 2-3mm too high and the outer shell would bulge outwards!

That eventually evolved to me wanting to run a full custom cooling loop and basing the packaging off the original idea, and that would also solve the height issue. The next challenge was finding a CPU block that would be low enough to allow it. Eventually I came up with a solution which is a hybrid of a universal CPU and GPU block from AliExpress.

The next issue was the RAM height and the WI-FI RF shielding preventing the fan and radiator from sitting lower down. I was able to work around the RF shielding by cutting a notch into the corner of the fan. The RAM clearance was solved by just buying ULP sticks.

So where I'm at now is making a cradle to hold the radiator and fan, which will attach to the mounting bracket of the CPU block underneath. I currently have one made up out of some aluminium bar held together with adhesive, and there are definitely further tweaks and improvements to be made. I'm hoping to get it finished up before Christmas, and I can't wait to show the final result at the end!

This is a GPU Anti-Sag support that can be fixed at the end of the graphics card. It keeps the GPU very stable during transportation, preventing damage from shaking or vibrations. I also made it adjustable so it can fit various graphics cards, like the 5080 FE, Prime 5080, 5070 FE, or Dual 5070—they're all compatible. In the future, I plan to make a version out of aluminum alloy. Anyone interested in that?

Assembly Help Trouble training larger ddr5 dimms on sff motherboard?

Post image
28 Upvotes

I am trying to upgrade my memory from 32 >96 gb for local AI tinkering but the new dimm's won't train.

Current memory trains and runs fine. I have now tried installing 2 separate sets of 48 x memory, but while they pass memtest 86, neither will train fully, the orange memory light just sits on forever/overnight without turning off or booting all the way into windows.

At the suggestion of Google I have tried all of the following, individually and in combination:

  1. turning off expo

  2. installing one dimm at at a time (still doesn't finish training after >45 minutes)

  3. installing one dimm at a time in secondary rather than primary memory slot

  4. clearing cmos

  5. updating bios to most recent release, updating bios to older more "stable" releases (currently running bios 1654 released in April)

  6. turning off memory context restore

  7. manually setting ram speed to 4800 mhz

My whole system is only about 1 year old and thus far used rarely for dad gaming:

Asus ROG Strix B-850i gaming wifi mobo

AMD 9800x3d

Asus Prime 5070ti

Samsung 9100 pro 2tb ssd

G.SKILL Flare X5 Series 32GB (2x16GB) Up to 6000MT/s* CL36-36-36-96 1.35V (F5-6000J3636F16GX2-FX5)

Corsair SF 1000 PSU

Coolermaster Atmos II 240mm AIO

COOJ SF5 case

Windows 11

I have tried both of the memory kits, purchased new from Newegg:

G.SKILL Flare X5 96GB (2 x 48GB) 288-Pin PC RAM DDR5 6000 (PC5 48000) Desktop Memory Model F5-6000J3036F48GX2-FX5

G.SKILL Ripjaws S5 Series 96GB (2 x 48GB) 288-Pin PC RAM DDR5 5200 (PC5 41600) Desktop Memory Model F5-5200J4040A48GX2-RS5K

Neither will finish training but after popping the old memory back in the system boots right back up with no issues. What am I doing wrong?

(cross posting an a few places besides sffpc because I'm desperate and need to return at least one of the memory kits quickly)

Reddit please help!

Update - I updated to the very most recent (non beta) bios but this didn’t cut it. Only one 96gb kit listed under my mobo’s QVL and out of stock everywhere. Toying with the idea of switching to an Asrock Lightning B850i as they list a LOT more 96 GB kits on their QVL list (unfortunately not one in my possession) but this seems like a lot of work.

Build/Parts Check Planning for Modultra 5090 WOBO

Huge shout out to Modultra for sharing this. Ditching my formd t1 for a Ncase M3 and doing a triple rad custom loop with pneumatic fittings.

So far I’ve got:

3x ST20 280mm rad from Alphacool
2x ST30 280mm X-flow rad from Alphacool
1x ST30 240mm X-flow rad from Alphacool
CPU block will be Modultra Lobo (wondering if DDCZero pump swap will be possible)
2X NF-A14X25 G2 PP set
1X NF-A12x25 G2 PP set
2X silverstone slim 140mm fan
SF1000 PSU with ZCooi custom cables
I’ll be also using the WVP2 and custom mounting it wherever feasible.

Got a bunch of radiators since I’m not fully sure what I’ll be able to fit and low stock made me rather buy once and cry once than to have to deal with scalpers or resellers.

5090 will be undervolted at 890/2827. 9950X3D is stable for me at -35 CO. Hoping these undervolts help me if I need to mix slim rads and fans to make it fit neatly as possible.

Now just the grueling wait until they start shipping in December 💔💔💔

Anyone know when these will be in stock? And where is the best place to get one if you're in the United States? I'm hoping shipping won't cost a fortune but I feel like that is the case.

First SFF PC build. Upgrading after 7 years from an i5 9400f and AMD RX 5700XT. I Couldn't wait 1 month for the Aorus Ice X870i to be delivered so went with ROG, thus the color miss match.

Not the most perfect cable management. Also no tube space when having the fans in front of the radiator. Overall very happy with it.

Assembly Help Asus B850-I vs X870-I

hello guys, just wanted to make a quick post, i currently have a 011 mini v2 build and was thinking about going even smaller and go set foot in the sffpc realm and getting the m2 or m3 grater . ive seen multiple post about these two motherboards from asus, but currently the x870-i is cheaper than the b850, would i be worth a buy? only the only thing swaying me away is that i heard the x870 runs hotter and from just the eye test seems like the 870 looks a bit taller for clearance. any help or suggestions ! thanks in advance!

Others/Miscellaneous Wall mount NR200 behind TV. Safe or crazy?

Post image
7 Upvotes

I sol my PS5, and will move my desktop PC from the office to the living room (won't need it for work anymore ,bought an RTX 5080 and upgrading it for gaming)

Due to ventilation, two small kids, and wife approval factor, there is no clear place for it on the existing furniture

However, the case seems to be just the right size to fit behind the TV using some sort of shelf

Case is an NR200 I found this shelf which seems to be a good fit

The idea would be to mount this just above the VESA arm, motherboard side facing the wall so that other sides are open for ventilation

Is this a good idea, or am I somehow weakening the structure of the wall by drilling a second device into it?

Build/Battlestation Pics Smallest 5070 Build? (4.2L)

Thumbnail

Wanted to challenge myself to go as small as possible while still having a pretty capable system. Pretty happy with how this build turned out, handles anything I throw at it while being small enough to throw into a backpack for on the go use. I was lucky enough to have purchased the iGame 5070 Mini quite some time ago before all the price hikes while I was waiting on the case to be built. Took about 3 months from time of order to delivery for the case since it was custom made and shipped from Ukraine from Custom-Mod. With an undervolt on the GPU, I never see it going above 65 C when under typical gaming loads. The CPU does get a little warmer at 70C when gaming but with the help of the 4070 fan manages to stay cool enough while not being too loud.

Specs:

CPU: Ryzen 7 9800x3d (Running in eco mode)

GPU: Colorful iGame Mini RTX 5070

Case: Custom-Mod FX 4.2L

Motherboard: ASUS ROG Strix X870-I

RAM: G.Skill FlareX5 64GB DDR5-6000 cl30

SSD: WD_Black 4 TB SN850X

PSU: Enhance 7660L with custom length cables from Zcooi Mod

CPU Cooler: Thermalright AXP90-X36 with CNC 4070 FE Fan

Had a great time building this and am super happy with the way it came out! While being just slightly larger than the steam machine it is way more capable and versatile as well.

Pretty interesting case to build in, as you may be able to tell the PSU cables were not the best managed at the top but it was a sacrifice i had to make in order to get the vertical GPU.

All the pictures Ive seen of this case are clean, no-cable builds so here's one with everything plugged in.

Specs:

CPU: Ryzen 7 9800x3d

GPU: AMD Radeon 9070XT Sapphire pure

Case: Xtia Xproto-Z

Motherboard: Aorus b850m Stealth Ice

RAM: 2x Micron Crucial OC 16GB DDR5 6400MHz CL38

SSD: Crucial P510 2TB Gen5 NVMe + 2 Gen 4x4 drives from old laptops

PSU: Corsair RM750e 750W

CPU Cooler: Tryx Turris 620

Prototype/Concept/Custom Janky solution for m.2 nvme on the back of motherboard

Thumbnail
gallery
106 Upvotes

A few weeks ago I got a super good deal on a nvme that I needed as secondary storage (and by super good I mean just a bit pricier than pre-AI bs) but my second nvme slot is on the back of the motherboard and thus covered by the riser cable in my densium 4v2 plus.

The riser cable prevented the heat from escaping and infact temps were reaching more than 80° as soon as I booted the pc to test the drive.

I needed a cooler that could move the heat away from beneath the riser cable, and after scouring the internet I found on aliexpress this tiny heatsink soldered to a flat heatpipe for 10€ and immediately bought it. I couldn't find any similar cooler that also had a flat copper plate, then I remembered I had a simple 1mm thick copper nvme heatsink with a thermal pad and silicone elastic bands and my head went 2+2=5 and this janky thing was born.

It works though. The temps are in the last pic, dropped by 40° on the nand module, but the controller reaches 60. It's not bad but I don't know why there's all this difference.

Anyways, if someone has a better solution let me know, and also, if this is stupid please tell me, I'm no way an expert and could use a hand in improving this thing.

Build/Battlestation Pics Updated my PC after 4 years without changes

Been rocking this amazing case for almost 4 years and made a few updates after a while. From i5 12600kf and RTX 3090 to i7 12700k and RX 9070XT. Had video issues at first and this led to upgrading to a CPU with igpu.

I also deshrouded the reaper because I regreted not getting an argb card (a steel legend). Not a smart move but it was already too late to switch cards, also it was a pain to remove the shroud without taking off heatsink. Temps are on the limit imo, reaches 79~80C hotspot on a 25C AC room with the ID cooling fans running at 100%. Tested at TW3 remaster with - 40 uv and +3% (310W) PL.
