Can't get a reply here? Try r/ComputerBuild
Hey everyone,
This sub has been growing a lot as of recently and we've noticed a lot of posts have been getting buried and unanswered. There is a lot of noise due to how much it has grown.
I have created r/ComputerBuild as an alternative.
So please kindly try cross posting there to get it off the ground.
I will be helping users daily and also building a mod team/looking for moderators to help.
Thanks!

PC ADVICE pls [discussion]
I’ve been wanting a pc for years now but I don’t really know what to get, prebuilt or spend hours learning how to build. I also want to know what kind of pc to get in terms of graphics and all that jazz. I mainly want to use a pc for story games that require pretty good graphics like tlou and rdr2. Any advice would be amazing! I know literally nothing lol… (ps: my budget is probably 3000 max since I don’t want to be spending 5 bands on a pc and I live in Canada.) :)))

PC Build (US 2-4k)
I want to be able to run RL Craft while recording with high graphics and shaders and I want to be able to edit videos with reasonable high demand and possible have multiple monitors
And I want to be able to record videos at least 1080p and 60fps, I will also use a scarlet mic for the pc
I also want to be able to run Minecraft and games like it at high graphics and be able to edit videos. I want to be able to stream with it if possible and
My preferred range in 2-3k but I can go up to 4k for it max
For more background I make YouTube videos and I edit and mix songs so I want it to be able to do that. thank you

I made a simple, instant PSU & Wattage calculator for modern GPUs/CPUs. Would love feedback on the spike margin math.

$1,000 PC Build for 1080p 240 FPS Fortnite
Ideally, I’m looking for a PC around $1,000 that can run Fortnite at 1080p and get as close to a consistent 240 FPS as possible.
I don’t know much about PCs and feel overwhelmed by all the options. I’m open to building, buying a prebuilt, or going the used route if it offers better value. Any recommendations for specific CPUs, GPUs, or builds I should look for would be greatly appreciated.
Monitor not needed as I have one that’s 300hz.

US / $800-1000 LF a PC build max $900 (tax incl.) that runs Rocket League UE6, Fortnite at 120fps
This will be my first PC build and I primarily play Rocket League. I’ve comfortably played it at 60fps on my Xbox for years but it’s broken now so what better time to switch to a PC than now.
80+fps in RL would be comfortable for me so that works but if possible, I’d like to get 120fps as I play comp often.
As a plus, I’d also like the PC to be able to run other games at 80+fps (Warzone, GTA VI, Fortnite, Minecraft, Elden Ring, Hogwarts Legacy, etc) if possible.
I already have a monitor & kbm.
The PC will be primarily used for gaming.
Parts preferably from Amazon or other reliable online retailers in US.
Case Color: White
Lighting: Not necessary
WiFi/Wired: Wifi
Size/noise constraints: N/A
Budget: $900 tax incl.
New Build.
Edit: I initially budgeted for $900 but the cheaper the better. Having options at different ranges ($500, $700, $900) would be great!

Need help building a NAS server with future potential in mind
Very new to PC building so I looked for prebuilt solutions first. Sadly, everything gears towards gaming or limited potential (ugreen, synology etc)
I’m currently running proxmox and truenas on some really old machines that have no real power or data redundancy/backup options. They were great to learn on but not really stable solution. So needing a machine that will be dedicated to preserving important data with the option of hosting docker apps like Immich, navidrome, and jellyfin. Thinking of using truenas scale since I’m familiar with it.
Country: US
Budget: $500-$800
Storage: 4-6 HDDs
I’ve got this list so far:

Needing suggestions on CPU, fans, power supply and anything else I might be missing. Dont care for colorful lights or flashy design since it’s just a server that won’t be seen. Dont need a GPU right now.
I have nvme and HDDs so I don’t need to worry about those. I think I need a CPU that can run headless without a GPU right?
I feel like I’m so close but getting confused.
