Players Only Full Sequence of umpire Doug Eddings on a power trip
Demanded that pitcher Hancel Rincon (in his MLB debut) straighten his hat since no one will wear a hat like that on "his field".
Cardinals manager Oli Marmol went to talk to Eddings about the hat incident during a pitching change, Eddings gave the Cardinals a pitch clock violation and ejected Marmol.
A couple batters later, with the Cardinals out of challenges, Eddings made a terrible call on a play at the plate to gift the Rockies the lead.

Eddings even admitted he didn't know if it was a rule, then said it's kind of an unwritten rule (or something like that). So he admitted he did all of that for something that clearly isn't a big deal at all. And going along with all the other blatant garbage he's done over the years, he needs to be fired.

It could have not been the disaster it's been if we had put some limits on it. I think we should have treated it like cigarettes from the get-go; no advertising on TV or radio of billboards, nothing about the design can be considered enticing to children and the company is heavily fined if children are found to be customers.
Going from "this is illegal" to "do whatever you want" was the dumbest thing we could have done.

Good. It needs to be said. The league hates it when managers say stuff because now everyone is going to watch what happened, and you're going to have public outcry against a dirty ref. He 100% called the runner safe to fuck over the Cardinals there. If it wasn't for the umpires union he could be fired, but instead nothing will happen.
Some unions are bad.

I hate how almost every other week I see another reason to favor switching entirely to ABS.

And all scoring plays automatically reviewed. If the mlb wants sports betting so bad, this has to happen

That would’ve done nothing here. Eddings just wanted to insert his “superiority.”

Racist. How many white pitchers come out with absolutely fifthly caps? That's fine but a slightly askew cap is worth all of this?

u/DCLexiLou Sep 05 '26
Sonny Gray is white as milk and wears his hat askew. No umpire says shit to him. This ump needs to go!

MLB, please stop this BS. Not everyone likes this NBA-style drama (or should I say, WWE-style).

The play at home puts it over the top. He was out by feet. Not even close.
Something like that affects the integrity of the game and he absolutely should be reprimanded for it.

Am I just noticing it more because of people like Jomboy, or are ump’s egos getting a lot worse lately?

i get col are out of the playoff picture and stl needs a million things to go right (which is not an excuse because this is still stupid as fuck to do) but shit like this with 2 teams who are fighting for a playoff spot and this has WAY more implications that could result in one of these teams missing the playoffs or even an outside team that needs a specific outcome to happen to reach the playoffs. this shit is beyond gross for an umpire just to decide “fuck you and your team in particular”

u/UNIFight2013 St. Louis Cardinals Sep 05 '26
We're only 3 games out and we play a bunch of bad teams the rest of the way out. We're definitely in the picture still.

Griffey Jr's backwards hat almost destroyed baseball. It took decades for baseball to regain popularity among the childrens. Can't risk that happening again.

Secret Service has very strict vision requirements. He’d never make it.
