Players Only Full Sequence of umpire Doug Eddings on a power trip

  1. Demanded that pitcher Hancel Rincon (in his MLB debut) straighten his hat since no one will wear a hat like that on "his field".

  2. Cardinals manager Oli Marmol went to talk to Eddings about the hat incident during a pitching change, Eddings gave the Cardinals a pitch clock violation and ejected Marmol.

  3. A couple batters later, with the Cardinals out of challenges, Eddings made a terrible call on a play at the plate to gift the Rockies the lead.

Fired asap and nothing else is acceptable. Calling a runner safe when he’s clearly out bc your feelings are hurt is the last straw

I mean, I think the racism is probably enough. But yeah, purposefully making an incorrect call is pretty bad.

The racist part can be “subjective” to other racists but the missed call is so blatant there’s no coming back from that.

There shouldn’t be at least

That’s what I was thinking too bc I didn’t see anything odd about the way the guy was wearing his hat.

I can excuse racism, but I draw the line at missing the play at home plate

It’s the hypocrisy

Exactly right. At that point, you're hurting the integrity of the game.

He’s a crew chief because the union awarded him. Not performance.

I’m not but the higher ups can but there’s no way they can ignore all of it.
