Players Only Full Sequence of umpire Doug Eddings on a power trip

  1. Demanded that pitcher Hancel Rincon (in his MLB debut) straighten his hat since no one will wear a hat like that on "his field".

  2. Cardinals manager Oli Marmol went to talk to Eddings about the hat incident during a pitching change, Eddings gave the Cardinals a pitch clock violation and ejected Marmol.

  3. A couple batters later, with the Cardinals out of challenges, Eddings made a terrible call on a play at the plate to gift the Rockies the lead.

Yeah you could tell in that interview he knew fines were coming. He had a moment of “how much do I want you say” then just let it all air out

Maybe they already do but the Cardinals should cover any fine he gets from this. This isn’t him giving the organization a bad look, this is him fighting for his players against an embarrassment of an umpire.

Oli is the Cards manager so that would be complicated. I think you meant Eddings shouldn't be assigned another Cards game?

Good. It needs to be said. The league hates it when managers say stuff because now everyone is going to watch what happened, and you're going to have public outcry against a dirty ref. Which means they have to do something hard, like deal with it, instead of something easy, like ignore it. I don't know what they're fining Oli but I'll chip in a few bucks if he wants to say it again.
