Players Only Full Sequence of umpire Doug Eddings on a power trip

  1. Demanded that pitcher Hancel Rincon (in his MLB debut) straighten his hat since no one will wear a hat like that on "his field".

  2. Cardinals manager Oli Marmol went to talk to Eddings about the hat incident during a pitching change, Eddings gave the Cardinals a pitch clock violation and ejected Marmol.

  3. A couple batters later, with the Cardinals out of challenges, Eddings made a terrible call on a play at the plate to gift the Rockies the lead.

Am I just noticing it more because of people like Jomboy, or are ump’s egos getting a lot worse lately?

if anything, I think it's actually way better than it was in the past. Broadcasters just dojmt have control over what we continue to talk about anymore.

I think we’ve always had this issue. Social media allows us to showcase it more; which you would think would fix the issue. Like do you really want to be seen as a prick to the whole world 😂

not really. joe west used to do this shit all the time too. angel hernandez to a lesser extent- hernandez was known more fornjust how poor his calls were but he had some ego moments as well.

The fact that you get to see stuff like this at all sort of lends itself to the conclusion that it used to be waaaaaaay worse. Can you imagine being able to power trip with essentially zero accountability? We think this is bullshit and it gets posted all over social media, which didn't exist not so long ago.
