Bald Picture A sincere thanks to all of you for the kindness and encouragement
Shaved it today and I’m real happy with how it looks. What do you think?

Rule #9 has been posted as a further explanation regarding our automod, specifically around the phrase "fuck cancer". We review each of those as they come through and approve them as quickly as we can. It can be frustrating so we wanted to add some transparency to how things work to keep this place supportive. Cancer is horrible to many people, their friends, and families; and we are happy that the community at r/bald can provide some minor relief to those managing the awful disease. Fuck cancer.

The time has arrived. Fr tho I feel so much more confident now that I got rid of it. I'm aware that I'm not good looking but it's a massive W over thinning hair
Edit: the uneven side of my head is from operation when I was younger. Just FYI

Ok hair me out on this one. Obviously i already know the overwhelming response on this sub will be yes do it! No one is going to say, No dude, keep holding onto your hair and embrace it lmao 😆
So i love having long hair, running my hands through it. I'm not attractive, never had a girlfriend am short,(which let's be honest guys is a turn off/ deal breaker a lot of women)
Am in my 40s and I'm no Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Bruce Willis or Vin Diesel 😭🧑🦲
And i really don't want to do this alone with no support. I have a lack of friends and family.
I would consider shaving in certain circumstances. I know it's unlikely to find a woman who would join in this with me and that's not a deal breaker. I just am more or a feminine man and am ok with admitting that.
I don't want to go to the barber and be all over in 5 minutes with my hair on the floor and swept in the rubbish.
I've grown my hair long for 15 years. So there's an attachment to it that women can relate to. It's become like a limb. I have had a buzzcut when i was young and was in the army for serval years. Those days are long gone like my hairline 😭
I would like to make this occasion memorable and love the idea of a fun roleplay like Samson and Delilah where i "fall asleeep" in a women's lap where she brushes and braids my hair and cuts ✂️ off the braid and then shaves the remaining hair to baldify me 🧑🦲😭
I understand that it's a long shot due to location (New Zealand) and having someone trusting enough to have this done with. Ultimately a platonic friendship where trust is built up first would be a must. (Don't think anyone would be trusting enough to see this like an acting role with a ramdom stranger)
I'm not manifesting this and in the end, this sub just wants to see before and after images and not long boring stories like this one lol 😆

Had someone close to me convincing me for years that it was better to have some hair.

I took the plunge a few years ago because I just didn’t have as much on top as I did on the sides and I didn’t want to look like I was trying to hold onto something that just wasn’t there anymore. Chewbacca has puppy-pattern baldness. He is bald from his chinny chin chin to his comically hairless butthole. He is my everything burrito. Do we belong?

I struggled with my thinning hair, but getting rid of it has given me a huge confidence boost.

After talking about it i ordered some clippers
They arrived and my wife jokingly said you doing it tonight? I think my reply of yes thats the plan shocked her a little
The kids got involved and shaved most of it off
All 3 (9, 6 & 3) say they prefer it
I jump back and forth whether i like it or not
My wife still isnt sure - but shes perimenopausal so hates me some days, likes me on others so ill take her view with a pinch of salt
I completed a half marathon at the weekend and didnt recognise myself in the post race pictures. But comparing them to the last time i ran that half marathon i actually looked happier (trained much more this time round)
I didnt realise how thin my hair really was at the front until i shaved it. I went for 1.5mm but the next day had to shave it again with no guard
For anyone thats thinking about taking the plunge my honest thoughts
- I thought id get more comments from friends. But my best friend didnt even notice until i mentioned it to him, although we hadnt seen each other for a few months. Other friends ive seen since shaving it havent even mentioned it
- I work remotely and again on video calls no one had mentioned it. It was only on a company wide call that a colleague slacked me about it, its now given him confidence to do the same
- I still have a bit of my tan so i notice the lighter areas alot more but this will change now were entering the cold and dark months
- There are some days where i look at myself in the mirror and love it, but there are some where the internal voice shouts WHY DID YOU DO IT? or YOUR HEAD LOOKS LONGER NOW. I think the longer it goes on the positive voice wins
- Its so good having to not worry about my hair. Changing clothes and then having to sort my hair, having to sort my hair before i go out, sorting my hair before a photo, not liking the photo because my combover wasnt right. These are all gone now, although my Chandler level smiling skills are questionable sometimes
Biggest things for me now are to get into a routine of shaving my head every few days, continue building the shoulders and attempt to sort out the facial hair
But the main reason for this post is to say go for it, you will likely switch back and forth for a few weeks about whether you like it or not but mainly if you worry about what people will think they hardly mention it or say something positive - the last part is something i didnt expect!

I have been balding since my mid-30s. I was hiding it with hats and getting haircuts pretty regularly. During COVID, I shaved my head since the only person who saw me was my wife, and I wasn't crazy about it, so I let it grow back while secretly cutting the sides down to allow my crown to fill in. Earlier this year, I just got tired of running to the barbershop every two weeks, the endless algorithm of get a hair transplant or a toupee, try all sorts of remedies and products that I never really kept up with, hearing people's opinions on my hair, and worrying if my wife was going to leave me because I didn't have hair anymore (which she didn't she says she like me in all my baldness). This time it felt official I was trying my best to own it. The few people that have seen it have been really positive. The only people that are weird about it are my parents; they are like Why do you keep do shaving your head and trying this for it. So I still have to keep a hat on standby with them. So my question to the council does the insecurity of being bald ever truly go away?

I decided to shave it all off at first I wanted a hair system and then, I got it I hated it. Next I was like you know what what the hell!! let's just go for it and while we're at it let's try minoxidil while it "grows back" I see the vision still haven't fully embraced it I used to have the most beautiful hair was told by hairdressers that I would "never lose it" and look at me now 😔

I keep the sideburns lower than most but I think that works better for my face. Currently at a #2 clipper

I've been thinking about taking the plunge and going bald, and I'm curious what you guys think. Am I at the point where I should just embrace it, or do you think I should hold off a little longer?

I’ve always avoided shaving my face because I’ve always thought it made me look ill.

So I'll be honest with you, I haven't shaved my head for 4 weeks as I've been booked in for a second HT.
I really noticed how bald I was on the top of my head in a full length hotel mirror...and now I'm wondering if it's any point going ahead with it at this stage?

My head is definitely lumpier than I had hoped
Do I wash with body wash or shampoo now?
