Beauty ? Update to Subreddit Rules

Please take note of some updates to the Subreddit Rules:

New Rule Welcome to Rule 9: Period product related posts are only allowed on Menstruation Mondays.

Posts asking about how to use period related products, recommendations for products, questions about difficulty using products, etc are only allowed on Mondays.

Update to Rule 7: No general "Glow Up" posts. Posts must ask a specific question. General "why am I ugly" or "am I ugly" type posts are not allowed. Specific questions like "how could I improve my eyebrows" "How to reduce having frizzy hair" or "help with reducing ingrown hairs" would be allowed. But as usual, only on Fridays.

Update to Rule 6: Clarification that all posts related to undergarments (bras and underwear) are only allowed on Wardrobe Wednesday. Also no "what's my body type" posts allowed.

Update to Rule 4: Questions asking about why an individual is having difficulty dating or similar topics are not allowed.

Automod is being worked on to help with these rule updates, but it is far from perfect. Posts may still get made that break the rules and that's where you the users come into play.

REPORT POSTS THAT BREAK RULES.

Reporting posts helps them be reviewed and possibly removed if they break the rules more quickly.

Discussion I’m 20 and have never had my first kiss. Is anyone else in the same boat?

I’m 20 years old, and I’ve never had my first kiss or a boyfriend. Honestly, it’s starting to make me feel really insecure. I want to experience young love, go on dates, hold someone’s hand, be kissed, and feel genuinely wanted by someone. Sometimes I compare myself to other women and wonder if my appearance is the reason it hasn’t happened for me. I know everyone has their own timeline, but it’s hard not to feel left behind when it seems like everyone else has experienced these things already I’m not looking to rush into a relationship with just anyone. I genuinely want a connection with someone who likes me for me. For anyone else who had their first kiss in their twenties or later, how did you deal with feeling behind? And did things eventually get easier?

Beauty Tip How to not compare and improve myself

I’m 22 and I have struggled with my mental health for some years now so I’ve not had any success with building any skincare or hair care routines. I feel like I see so many videos online of all these women with very well put together routines that have aided in their perfect hair and skin. I also see women with these picture perfect plates of food and incredible regimens for exercise and eating. They seem to be so well put together and have things figured out.

I’m better about not comparing myself these days, but sometimes I still get really down on myself because I don’t feel like I’m as much of a woman as them. I feel happy with myself if I can muster up the energy to cook one decent meal a day or do my one step skin care routine. I want to build better habits and better routines, but I do feel very overwhelmed by all of the different routines and tips. Does anyone else struggle with these things and do you have any tips? I want to feel more feminine and put together I’m just not sure where to start.

Social ? Going to a wedding for the first time as an adult. Any tips?

I 19F have a friend 19F who is getting married next month.

I have never been in a relationship. I closed myself off to the thought of being in a relationship for so long that i don't know what it is like to find love. I've told myself that I don't have to worry about this for the mean time and it will just play its course. But it has really come to a head when I got found out that my good friend was engaged. I would joke that I knew that this existential crisis was going to hit but i didn't think it would be so soon. How do I mentally prepare for this?

More practical questions

What is a normal amount to gift, I don't have much

What colors should I avoid.

What should I expect

Any other tips would be appreciated :)

I've had these uggs since like 2012 and they've been in my closet all year. They are my most reliable pair I love them so much. I took them out and realized just how filthy they are. Is there a way to safely clean the wool without ruining them or should I just take them for dry cleaning?

Tip How do i get better at riding my bf?

My boyfriend (24M) and I (21F) have been together for a little over a year, and he's my first boyfriend and my only sexual partner. Our sex life is good, but one thing I've really wanted to get better at is riding him. I feel like I genuinely have no idea what I'm supposed to be doing, and I'd love some advice from people who have figured it out!

When I'm on top, I usually lean forward so my chest is against his chest. That way, we can kiss and make out while having sex, which I really like. The problem is that I have absolutely no idea what I'm supposed to be moving. 😭 Am I supposed to be moving my hips up and down? Is it more about using my legs to lift and lower myself? Am I supposed to be doing something with my pelvis as well? I feel like I'm overthinking every single movement because I can't figure out what I'm actually supposed to be doing.

Whenever I try to move up and down, it feels so awkward and uncoordinated. It's like we're somehow moving in sync in the wrong way, and his whole body ends up moving up and down with me instead of me moving independently. I don't know if that makes sense, but it almost feels like I'm bouncing both him and myself rather than actually riding him. 😂 We're usually on a fairly soft mattress, so maybe that contributes to it, but it's honestly so frustrating because I can't seem to find a rhythm that feels natural.

I also find it difficult to maintain the movement for more than a little while without feeling awkward or getting tired. I start thinking about what I'm doing instead of actually enjoying the moment, and then I feel even more clumsy. I want to be able to move confidently and find a rhythm that feels good for both of us, rather than constantly feeling like I'm trying to figure out the mechanics of it.

I've also tried thinking about sitting more upright or getting into more of a squat position, but I feel really uncomfortable and awkward doing that. I much prefer leaning forward against him because it feels more intimate and natural to me, so I'd especially appreciate advice on how to make that position work better.

So, for those of you who are good at riding your partner: what movements are you actually making? Are you using your thighs, your hips, your core, or a combination of everything? How do you find a rhythm that feels natural? How do you avoid that weird feeling where your partner's whole body moves along with you?

Fashion ? Work-appropriate shoes that are ACTUALLY comfortable?

Help. Do these exist? I have been wearing clean white sneakers with business casual but was told I need a professional shoe. I have terrible arches/back pain so I need shoes that are actually comfortable, not manageable. Help.

Health ? From one woman to another, how do you protect yourself while outside alone?

Long story short Yesterday I was walking my dog and saw a man who was bouta walk by me but ended turning another way towards these stores, I thought he was going to go into the buildings but as I was walking away I saw him end up skipping them and walking in between them into the alley, weird but ok. About twenty minutes later I am heading back in that direction not paying attention, texting on my phone white my AirPod in, and I glance over my shoulder and hes about fiifteen feet away from me staring directly at me. I freak out and start speed walking away and pretend to call someone otp. when I glance back over my shoulder he’s gone. I am always very paranoid and wary of men when I am on walks especially alone. I’m a 4’11 20 year old 130lbs and pretty weak and my dog is a mini daschund. I’m usually pretty hyper vigilant on my walks because I get scared n I just can’t believe the one time I’m not that something like this happened. Anyway all of this to ask how do u guys protect urself on walks? I have pepper spray but I didn’t bring it with me because i didn’t think of it, but I will be from now on.

Health ? I can't stop chafing

This is my first post on reddit so please bare with me. About two or three months ago I noticed that both of my armpits are chafed. I switched deodorants (degree men's sensitive skin to degree outlast) and my shaving routine (tree hut shave oil to edge sensitive skin) and there has been little improvement.

Last year, my cleavage area despite not having big boobs by any means, chafed and cracked really bad to the point of bleeding. I was prescribed nyastin by my dr and it worked.

I had to change pad brands bc i was chafing really bad on my period bc of them. I used the nyastin then and it worked.

Anyway, i've used cornstarch to dry it out, cerave healing chafing and cracked skin cream and the medicated cream and absolutely nothing is helping. i don't wear tight clothes and it's not where my body hair is. it's all around it on both pits. I've never had this problem before here and idk what to do anymore it's super itchy and sore. i feel disgusting.

Is there a well kept girl secret for this or am i gonna have to deal with this for awhile?

Health ? I don't know how to handle the monthly nightmare

At first gynecologist suggested Xanax. I insisted on tests and she prescribed one MRI that found something and polyps. She said that the polyps shouldn't be a problem, but unfortunately I can't have surgery due to other illnesses that make it all a nightmare either way. I am on antibiotics for a UTI. It cleared but I am still terrified of peeing, it triggers a ton of lasting pain.

Other than the antibiotics and the antifungal pills afterwards, she just told me to get magnesium. It has done absolutely nothing.

I still need painkillers that work for a while, if they are... a lot and combined. The problem is, they only last for a short time. And I have been noticing weird symptoms the last two months that I've needed even more - I get dazed. My reactions are slower. I space out and take longer to recognize someone. I get forgetful, too. I see an object and think it's something else. I watch something in my side vision, moving etc, but there's nothing there. Once the period is over and I don't need painkillers anymore, all that is gone.

I should find another way to deal with it. The pain begins a week prior and lasts all 7 days. The cramps are a 10/10.

I have tried heat to the point of burning my skin, and heat patches but they are too expensive and really don't do much. I don't know what else to do.

Discussion How do I stop raiding my pantry everytime my period hits?

I’m currently trying to stay on a healthy diet as I have started going to the gym. However, whenever my period comes, all I end up doing is shoving myself with a bunch of sweets and junk. This discourages me so much because my cravings always ends up taking the better of me. Is there any tips on how I can prevent binging on my period?

’m not an expert on the BP scale but I def want to look noticeably pretty.Ive lost 40 pounds so far and duh I need to lose about 100 more to lose all face fat and “bring out” my features so the gym is obvious but is there anything else? Might my makeup be to light? To heavy? Ditch the glasses? Hair color suggestions? I’m getting a nose job and maybe a forehead reduction when I have enough money but any non life altering cosmetic surgeries that would make me look noticeably attractive?

(Tell me if this is allowed, new to Reddit hope I read all the rules right)

Social ? formal event etiquette

hi girls. i feel a little embarrassed not knowing about this but it’s even more embarrassing to ask irl i think lol, so here i am.

how do you exist in a social event? like in general. i had an important event last week where i was confident about the dress and heels i wore but i felt so unexpectedly out of water.

it was at a theatre so while we were watching the play i didn’t have the space to cross my legs, so my choices seemed to be just keep them bent like in a regular sit down (which left my knees ridiculously high because of the heels) or kind of bend them inwards (which put the sides of my shoes on the floor). the whole room was at a slant too which was unfortunate because it was so much harder to stand around after the show and mingle.

also i wasn’t sure what to do with my hands? my dress had pockets but i didn’t think of that as an option in this context. but crossing my arms feels like I’m trying to draw attention so i can’t win really.

TLDR what do you do with your arms and legs when you are actually required to act and dress fancy?

Tip How do people layer a bed without it turning into a pile of laundry?

Layered beds look great in photos, but I do not want five pieces of bedding to wash every week. I am thinking about using one bedsure comforter with a lighter throw and two extra pillows. What is the simplest setup that still looks finished?

Discussion Do you have any advice on storing wristbands?

Thumbnail

I found such a great solution for my fun earrings (some are missing and will be added as I find them, including the second silver leaf one, some are part of sets so stored as a set and some are more expensive and thus stored in proper containers) but I'm just at a loss when I comes to wristbands. I used to just put them in a box but that feels messy. You only see few of them at a time and never end up using the ones at the bottom. I've thought about hanging them all up on a long string but i would need to unstring them every time I pick out one so that's not ideal. Maybe cardboard +toothpicks? What do y'all do?

Health Tip Nipple Piercings

I’m not super confident in my boobs but I’ve heard that getting them pierced makes them look perky 24/7. I had a few questions and would appreciate some insight!
-How long should you wear sports bras after?
-If you remove them, do they go back to how they looked before?
-How long do they hurt after getting them pierced for?
-Did they help with your confidence?
TIA!

Social ? What’s the normal Instagram etiquette between friends?

I have a friend who posts a LOT like around 15 stories a day on her main Instagram and even more instants, mostly food, drinks, places she visits, etc. I like and comment on ALL of her posts, but I don’t interact with every story and instant unless I genuinely like the picture or photography because she doesn’t respond to every interaction or reaction either.

Nevertheless, I wonder what’s the normal balance?

If you are the sort of person who posts A LOT of instants, think back on how your besties interact with them. Do you prefer it when they interact all of then or about half of them.

I wanna come off as cool and aloof without making her feel like I’m not that close with her. I want her to feel that I am her best friend, I notice what she is upto and I care.

She is also on snapchat and pinterest, what’s the ideal etiquette there?

Tip Planning Bachelorette party in Korea

I want to plan a small surprise party for my friend, her wedding is in 2 weeks. I was thinking of buying balloons and maybe one of those things you put around your chest saying bride, then dinner and karaoke but seems a bit simple. Any tips? First time planning something and have never been to a bachelorette party

Beauty ? When do you workout and shower?

Do you always shower right after working out? When do you style your hair for the day? I’m new to regularly working out in this phase of my life (mom of a preschooler) and am trying to figure out how to be put together. Right now I’m speedrunning preschool drop off, gym, shower, teeth/face/lotion, a hairstyle that tolerates wet hair (braids, claw clip, etc), then making it back just in time for preschool pickup.
