Before & After Went to a Rezo Salon and asked for what the Hairstylist thought was best

Routine

1st pic I used NYM curl talk shampoo, conditioner, AG Care Leave-On, NYM curly talk gel.

2nd pic was after the cut and styled by her.

3rd pic was the same shampoo and conditioner. Though the Hairstylist recommended I mix the leave in, mousse and gel together. I mixed some AG Care Leave-On and mousse-gel, scrunched gently, micro plopped with an old t-shirt and then diffused in all directions including upside down.

4th pic is day 2 after I slept in a satin bonnet.

Help! hair not curling like before, please help!!!

For the last almost year or so, I have noticed some changes in my hair. I have included the photos here for reference and I am hoping someone can help me with why my curls (especially my bangs that are typically the MOST well behaved curls) are not holding shape like they used to.

  1. December 2024 — I remember finger coiling the front pieces and around the side as well
  2. September 2025 — this was right before I went and got my hair cut into a mullet that I then grew out for the better part of a year
  3. April 2026 — been growing my hair out since it was cut in the previous photo, curls are well defined and mostly without frizz, and the bangs look great.
  4. Today (October 2026) after I spent time finger curling most of my head using the same products I always do. Notice how there’s so much more frizz and the curls don’t have the same shine and hold.

I got my hair cut into July 2026 to even out some of the layers from the mullet and shape up my bangs. She cut them shorter than I wanted but that’s fine, hair grows.

My routine goes as follows: Ouidad Clarifying Shampoo. I used to use Rhyme and Reason conditioner from target and my hair LOVED it but I think it has been discontinued and I am using a Suave one right now. Then I go in with Marc Anthony Strictly Curls Defining Cream and scrunch in Marc Anthony Mousse. I plop my hair in a cotton towel for 30 minutes and then diffuse. I always wear a satin bonnet to bed.

I’m just SO frustrated because I miss how my hair used to look. Any help is appreciated!!

My routine!

  1. Shampoo: trader joes bonding shampoo

L'Oreal elvive hyaluronic plump hydrating conditioner

  1. Trader joes leave in conditioner

not your mother's curl talk mousse

not your mother's curl talk gel

this is my freshly diffused day 1 hair, usually by day 2 I get a bit more volume from sleeping on it pineappled (and some good ole' hair grease and buildup, don't ask me about my scalp flaking), but by day 3 it is a MESS to detangle in the shower and it gets all knotted. Usually I'd wash every other day but rn 'm doing every 2 days.

4.I got layers this time, wear my hair in a bonnet, and diffuse upside down. No refresh for me

I just want volume! It just looks stringey and thin, I guess when I was younger my hair looked thicker.

Help! How can I get more volume and defined curls without a cast?

My routine:

  • Wash with a Mercadona shampoo and condition with the same brand of conditioner. It is a local supermarket chain. Detangle.
  • On soaking wet hair I put John Frieda or Garnier Fructis Mousse, raking or with praying hands.
  • Micro plop and diffuse.

If I put something bigger than a golf ball on my hair it becomes hard and thin strands that won't go away.

I have tried gels because it is what hairdressers prefer to use on me, and I always end with wiry hair. I feel like my curls used to curl much more a while ago, but now not even witth my routine, diffussing or air drying they look nice. And the next morning (2nd photo) you see thay I have nothing. I wear a silk bonnet to sleep but I move a lot. The first photo is after washing.

Please help me to have soft define curls with volume :(

Help! Can't afford curly hair cut

So I am finally growing out my hair and taking proper care of my curls. Yet I have a pretty bad triangle head where it's relatively flat on the top and poofs out at the ends. I know I need to get a cut for layers but all of the specialist where I live are charging 200-250 for a proper cut. I can't afford that and I don't trust any cheaper salons as they have ruined my hair before. Should I try to do it myself? I have 3B hair if that helps.

My current routine is Aussie miracle curls extra moisture shampoo and conditioner with Aussie instant freeze gel. Shea manuka honey hair mask and kinky curly knot today moisturizer. I use shampoo about once a week and the rest of the products right after. I usually have to do a touch up and recondition my hair midway through the week. I air dry and use a silk bonnet.

Help! Help figuring out what my low porosity fine Irish curls need

I can't seem to figure out a good middle ground for my hair.

I'd say I probably have a mix of 2c/3a hair with flat roots

Shea moisture products weigh it down but make the curls super defined but leave residue and more prone to frizz.

Verb Ghost line makes it nice and shiny and light, but very undefined curls, but stays clean longer and less frizz

My hair seems to really like protein but can become brittle and dry fast.

Current routine:

Verb Ghost S&C, SM JBCO leave in conditioner, and Nexxus Mousse.

Other routine is either SM JBCO S&C or SM Manuka Honey and Mafura oil. Plus the leave in and mousse for both. Both leave a lot of residue but make my curls so nice, but it gets messy and dirty fast.

I always air dry and sleep on a silk pillowcase.

Any guidance would be wonderful

day 2 hair pic...

i started taking care of my wavy hair 5 months ago, before that it went through bleach, dye and a couple of straightening treatments. I know growing it out and cutting it is the only way of getting rid of the damage, but maybe someone here has some insight. I want my curls to curl more and more evenly. Some spots on my head as well as the roots dont form a curl like the rest, a lot of my hair is limp and even basically straight (there might be some irish curlage but i'm not sure). my hair is fine and not very dense.

Routine:

shampoo: garnier hair food avocado (AFAIK this is only sold in LatAm, sorry), twice a month detox with tresemme detox shampoo. i've tried sulfate free shampoos and none of them have worked much for me in the past because my scalp is normal to oily.

conditioner: elvive glycolic gloss, skala grape or skala watermelon

masks: elvive oil extraordinary, l'oreal everpure bond pre-shampoo, dove bond repair, usually switch between the oil one and a bond repair one 2x a week

leave-in: elvive oil extraordinary for curls (another latam product oops) or skala watermelon. i rarely use mousse (tresemme)

oil: lola danos vorazes

i scrunch with a microfiber towel and air dry most times, sometimes i do use a diffuser. and i sleep with a satin bonnet.

Help! Has rosemary oil or any other hair growth option worked for you?

• Upvotes

3b/3c hair. My salon lady thinned my hair down when I didn't ask now it feels lacking. 4 months of progress in the shitter. Heard rosemary oil is good for promoting hair growth but Im confused how to use it. How much should i use? Should i use it with an other oil or just water? how long do I leave it in? How often should I use it?

Current routine: redken mega soft curls shampoo & conditioner; rizzos curl custard, airdry.

Help! White woman, newly curly/wavy hair - Help!!

I’m a 35F white woman who has recently (last 2-3 years) developed curly hair. I do color it, trying to embrace the grey hair that I’ve had since middle school, but am dealing with tangles that are driving me insane!

I wash it about every other day, and since I’m suffering with chronic illness, I don’t have the energy to use a diffuser to dry it. This is my routine:
1. Double wash with Redken acidic bonding for curls shampoo
2. Generous amount of Redken acidic bonding for curls conditioner, I use a wet in-shower brush to work out tangles and distribute the conditioner
3. Spray and rinse with the Redken acidic bonding treatment
4. After washing, I’ll either use the Redken for curls leave in conditioner or the Paul Mitchell mouse while my hair is still really wet.
5. I do the slow ā€œcrunchā€ all over then use a microfiber or t-shirt towel to put it up.
By the end of the day, or the next day, it’s awful and the tangles hurt.
Does anyone have a good recommendation on detanglers, or anything else that will help??? I’ve tried different materials for pillow cases, but haven’t tried satin. All the refresh treatments (Ouidad, Ouai) just make my hair feel sticky and greasy.

Help! Fine low density hair help

My hair often used to look like hanzcurls on instagram. Did not curly until like between my ear and chin and was bra strap length.

routine:
milkshake curly shampoo and conditioner, detangled, squish the conditioner out and then scrunch out the excess water upside down, and then all with my hair styled upside down I glazed and scrunched in cream (milkshake spray leave in or umberto gianni curl creme) and then gel (love ur curls Irish Sea moss gel, or umberto gianni curl gel). I would get nice big clumps, plop with a microfiber towel, and then diffuse to 80% and scrunch it out with umberto gianni serum once I was at work. I never really gos my hair to curl more at the roots, or separate. After trying a bunch of methods off of instagram, it does curl better at the top when I rake in products, but weirdly not when I use the bounce curl brush?? Which is too bad because that’s what I typically see recommended.

I would love to try and enhance my curls because I do get the 3a ringlets but only at the bottom of my hair and I even went for a recent curly cut to shape it better, add in more layers and cut it shorter - it is curling a bit more at the top now but it’s hard to keep consistent. I’ve found that sectioning my hair out of the shower doesn’t really work especially since it’s not thick, and it curls just okay by sectioning and brush styling. I’ve so far had my best success at getting it to curl more at the top by raking my products through my hair starting close to the route. I’m also not sure what products would work best, and I’m also in the mid-west of Canada for reference so we don’t get everything here easily. I’ve so far tried the Doux mousse (don’t know if I’m using this right), not your mothers freeze gel, cake mousse, not your mothers mousse, LUS Irish Sea moss gel, and curls it’s in shower style fixer and air dry crĆØme, in addition to the ones I’ve listed above.

I’m happy to try new things and take advice and would just love to know from others with similar hair types or experiences what worked for them! I am struggling between being low porosity, fine haired, and then also looking for light weight products that actually have hold. Any help is appreciated!!!

Help! Looking for a cheap hair oil

So i just need a cheap lightweight hair oil that I can put in when my hair just has a few frizz spots orneeds a little bit of moisture on the in between days.im not sure which priducts are good as ive never used oils or serums.

I dont want to spend a lot and I like products that last a long time. Like $10 max for a month supply minimum.

I have shoulder length 2a-3a curls, pretty thick, semi course, and im not sure on porosity, but it doesn't get oily unless i use way too much product or dont wash it for over a week. But even then it's only oily on the roots

Routine

All cantu products (head and shoulders for clarifying, once every 3-4 washes or as needed)

Shampoo, condition

Leave in conditioner

Curl defining cream

Curl custard gel

Brush style with bounce curl slick flex

Plop in a cotton cloth or air dry

Help! I need help with shampoo.

Hi! It's my first time posting here, I need some help with my hair. I used to have really curly hair that was really soft as well, but over the years the kind of faded, the curls are still there but they're not all over my head like they used to be. I don't know how to properly take care of my hair, for my routine, I have been using the Loreal Paris Elvive extraordinary shampoo and conditioner, i first go in with the shampoo, rinse it out them go in with the conditioner, leave that in for 5 minutes then rinse it out. and I can't really tell if its working for my hair or not, i don't have any volume at the top of my head, its just flat, also after a day or two of washing my hair, it gets dry, especiall at the ends. Lately I found out about clarifying shampoos, not they are really expensive where i live so i resorted to using a apple cider vinegar and water solution, but I also can't tell if it's working or not... I'm really lost on what to do to get my soft curly hair back with the volume. Please help

Help! Hairdryer in Europe (150€ budget)

I fried my hair dryer by getting hair stuck into the fan :') and now I'm overwhelmed looking for a replacement. I've been lurking on this sub for a while and I see a lot of Dyson recommendation. However I cannot get myself to spend 500€ into a hairdryer as it seems too excessive. Instead I'm considering:

  • Rowenta Curl Harmony (50€)
  • Bellissima 11799 My PRO DF1 (60€)
  • Bellissima 11824 DIFFON SUPREME (140€)
  • Laifen SE 2 (150€)
  • Laifen Neo (145€)

I have no brand preference. Honestly any recommendations from European curly girls would be a great help! I have 2C/3A hair, shoulder length bob and my hair can handle only very light products.

Routine:

  • MyVeg Protein + Hydra bath shampoos
  • MyVeg Conditioner
  • Leave-in MyVeg Beautifying Duo Cream
  • Occasional hairspray.
  • Sleep with a bonnet

(I blindly follow my stylist recommendation as I'm tired of testing products haha)

Discussion How do people with curly/wavy hair do different hairstyles without getting tangles?

Do other people experience this and if they do what did help? When i try even a simple hairstyle for example a loose braid, or half pony i end up with crazy tangles in my hair just after a single outing even on wash day!?

Also for my routine,i have 2C hair and i use
Cleansing shampoo (aveeno apple cider vinegar cleansing) paired with a hydrating shampoo and conditioner (amika hydro rush shampoo and conditioner).

I even use leave in conditioner paired with curl gel but still end up with crazy tangles.

Help! anyone recommend the wavy talk air sculpt 5 in 1?

Post image
3 Upvotes

i'm looking for new hairdryer because mine is very old and super heavy, and the diffusers fall off no matter how much i squish them on lol. i like the look of the wavy talk sculpt 5 in 1( well really i like the look of the dyson and shark ones but thats way out of budget lol). i like the idea of having different attachments, and the shape of the actual dryer looks like it will be quiet comfy too use. does anyone have anyone experience with the dryer and would you recommend it?? if you wouldn't recommend it what else would you recommend in the same price range, the normal wavy talk dryer?

routine:
I-shampoo twice using the aveeno oat shampoo and every other wash with the apple cider blend then condition with whatever i have(currently john frieda dream curls)
I-once out the shower i leave it to dry a little then use the not your mothers leave spray and detangle with a wide tooth comb
I-then i section my hair and depending on how bothered i am/ how much time ill either brush style or just scrunch and separate with the wide tooth comb
I-i rake a small amount of umberto giannini curl jelly cream then either mousse(pantene)and style/scrunch and the scrunching gel (umberto scrunching jelly)after or gel first then mousse(i switch it up all the time lol)
I-then i towel it dry with a microfibre towel and then diffuse until ideallv about 50-75% dry
I-once all dry i add kerastase oil

Help! Routine Help! Hair is frizzy and matted at the top.

Thumbnail

Good morning! I’m having problems with my curls. I have high porosity hair. This is freshly washed. This routine used to work for me, but the curls have been frizzy and the top seems to get matted. It’s hard to refresh. I think I need a stronger hold gel, so I’m primarily looking for recommendations for gel. Any suggestions are welcome!

Routine:
Shampoo: Kirkland Signature Moisture Shampoo
Clarifying Shampoo (once every ~two weeks at my hairdresser’s recommendation): Suave Essentials Daily Clarifying Shampoo
Conditioner: Pureology Hydrate Conditioner
Mousse: Gabriel Fructis Curly Construct Creation Mousse
Gel: Miss Jessie’s Jelly Soft Curls

A after washing with hair sopping wet still in the shower, I flip over, and prayer hand the mousse through my hair, then the gel. I gently use my whole palm with additional gel to clump the curls together. I plop for ten minutes, then diffuse on medium heat until 80% dry.

Help! Best option for a color-safe clarifying shampoo?

Hey y'all, I tend to prioritize volume so I used to be married to my clarifying shampoo, but I've recently started dyeing my hair pink and need one that's color safe. I'm aware most clarifying shampoos contain a lot of sulfates because.... sulfates DO the clarifying..... but I'm a lil bit desperate figured I'd leave the question here.

Current routine:

  1. Garnier Pure Clean Conditioner

  2. Garnier Curl Conditioner

  3. air dry

  4. L3vel3 Sea Salt Spray

Help! Curly hair cut/layers

Hi! I've been thinking about getting layers. My only worry is that I have fine hair which looks basically see through when I'm up against any sort of lighting, so I'm worried layers will make my hair look even thinner. Does anyone have a similar situation and can let me know what they did or if there are any alternative solutions?

Routine: I rake in Miss Jessie's pillow soft curls and marc anthony grow long leave in conditioner on soaking wet hair. I then part my hair into two sections and style with my hands and rake through to create clumps (I repeat with the crown of my head and do a no-part style). I scrunch in miss jessie's jelly soft curls and then leave to airdry. I scrunch out the gel cast with olaplex N7 bonding oil. I protect my hair with a silk pillowcase and put it up into a bun, but I still have to do a fresh routine every time I want to wear my hair down.
