Question Looking for a stroller and didn’t think it would be this difficult here.
I just moved back to Portland with my two boys as we left our previous one with only what would fit in the car and that meant leaving behind a wagon and stroller. I figured it would be easy to pick one up inexpensively here but in a week I can’t get anyone to respond on marketplace or find a kids resale shop with one. I’m looking for, ideally, a jogging stroller but at this point I’m open as long at it’s reliable for an 11 month old. I don’t have a car myself yet and my son is heavy and growing out of the baby carrier. I spent a lot of what I had just to get here from another state but have about $100 to spend on a stroller if anyone has one or an idea of where I could find one.
I hope it’s okay to post this here.

Event Avast ye, landlubbers! A crew of fearsome pirates be sailing towards Portland!
The pirates be raiding the shores of Portland and will be docking in Woodlawn this Friday. The scurvy crew shall be ready to receive all brave souls willing to venture near these pirate-infested waters!
Let it be known that those bold enough to face these salty sea dogs shall earn the respect of the crew, the admiration of their fellow villagers, and perhaps even a place among the ranks of the bravest souls to ever walk the plank!
But beware, ye faint of heart! Those who dare not approach, who tremble at the sight of a Jolly Roger, or who flee at the first thunderous roar of a pirate cannon shall be branded cowards and scallywags for all to see! May the chickens in their coops show greater courage than they!
So polish yer boots, steel yer nerves, and bring yer bravest mates. The seas be treacherous, the pirates be ruthless, and the cannons be primed!
Will ye stand tall against the terror of the seven seas, or will ye be scuttling home with yer tails between yer legs?
1201 NE Holland St, across from Woodlawn Elementary
Schedule:
Oct-16 through Halloween (and maybe longer)
Fri, Sat: 5:00PM-10:00PM
Sun-Thu: 5:00PM-9:00PM

PSA dogs being poisoned in NE Portland ( Piedmont/King )
One of my neighbors had someone toss poisoned treats over the fence near Ainsworth/Rodney. His dog had to be rushed to the emergency vet in the early morning hours after vomiting all night and losing control of his rear legs.
Some of my more nearby neighbors report the same thing, nearer to Alberta / MLK.
This sh*t, again. Be vigilant, and lets catch this asshole. This is the same crap that happened around Mt. Tabor ( rat poisoned dog treats )

Oregon polling on data centers in September
Poll finds split between Portland and the rest of the state, between parties, and between July and September.
Downtown Portland data centers are small but may require PGE upgrades. Forest Grove and Hillsboro residents are debating data centers.
No link yet to crosstabs, but more discussion of the July poll at https://www.dhmresearch.com/oregonians-want-limits-on-data-centers-and-ai-they-disagree-about-whos-offering-them/

🏛️ Government Postin’! 🏛️ Oregon Democrats' gun control record and what to expect in 2027
With November approaching, it's worth looking at Oregon Democrats' recent gun legislation and what could happen next session.
Measure 114 requires permits to purchase firearms and bans magazines over 10 rounds. It also allows police chiefs and sheriffs to deny permits even when applicants pass background checks, based on a subjective determination of whether they pose a danger. This creates opportunities for discrimination, personal bias, and unequal enforcement, particularly against marginalized communities.
Meanwhile, HB 3075 (2025) and the original HB 4145 (2026) proposed exemptions allowing law enforcement to avoid permit requirements and magazine restrictions, including in their personal lives. Essentially, police could be exempt from laws imposed on everyone else.
Those provisions were removed before HB 4145 passed, but Democratic Sen. Lisa Reynolds, who carried the bill, explained in an email that the Senate scaled it back to avoid a Republican walkout. She wrote:
"WE still MUST make the changes in the House version of HB 4145, and we will do so in 2027."
Michael Bloomberg's Everytown for Gun Safety spent $200,000 supporting Measure 114 and continues advocating for firearm restrictions in Oregon.
Democrats currently control the governorship and both legislative chambers. If they retain their trifecta, Reynolds has made clear she intends to bring these changes back in 2027.
Regardless of where you stand on gun control, why should police have discretion to deny firearm purchases while potentially receiving exemptions from the same restrictions they're enforcing?

jumping spider
i recently bought a bold jumper, and i adore him. however, because of my current mental state and other personal issues, i just can't care for him in the way that i should be able to. if anyone in the east side would like to have him, i don't want any money and i'll provide his enclosure and fruit fly culture. i need him off my hands as soon as possible. his name is chuddy and he's extremely well tempered, and good for handling.
solved! he's taken :)

Self Promotion Film Prints by Local Artist
Hi my name is Josie and I’m a transplant from Washington. I’ve been in SE Portland for going on 4 years and it’s been difficult to make a living with my disabilities. I would love for you to take a look at my ko-fi where I sell my art, prints, and zines!
Any and all feedback is appreciated, as I know the art profession can be cutthroat for young, inexperienced artists.
Pictured are my film prints, but I have many more products on ko-fi. To reach my shop, go to ko-fi.com, and search Run Rabid Press. You’ll find my page and my store should be easy to access from there.
Big thank you! Josie

Anyone know of any jobs hiring?
I had to quit my job as a homecare worker recently because I had only been paid once in the full 3 months I was working with my client and now I'm jobless and can't pay for my essentials without begging people on the internet for money. I admittedly don't have a ton of experience nor did I finish high-school which I know doesn't help much for finding jobs. I worked at a call center for like 2 weeks prior to working as a HCW for 3 months, I don't expect much as a result but I am new to Portland and don't know what's really around here. I will say I have some issues with standing for long periods of time and heavy lifting due to possible fibro (I'm undiagnosed but it does run in my family and I share many symptoms) so I would prefer to find a job without those things but I think I could thug out the pain at least with standing.
